While, chief minister Mamata Banerjee has already virtually inaugurated 69 puja pandals in 10 districts, Prime Minister Narendra Modi&nbsp;will virtually attend&nbsp;Durga Puja being organised by the BJP's Mahila Morcha

With elections just months away, Durga Puja has turned all political in West Bengal. While, chief minister Mamata Banerjee has already virtually inaugurated 69 puja pandals in 10 districts, the BJP has deployed Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Prime Minister will participate virtually in a Durga Puja being organised by the BJP's Mahila Morcha. Last year, home minister Amit Shah had inaugurated a Durga Puja in Kolkata's Salt Lake amid much controversy. There are some 37,000 Puja pandals in the state and the Chief Minister has announced a grant of 50,000 rupees to each.

Biplab Deb, Tripura's Chief Minister believes that the BJP-led government would remain in power for another 30-35 years if 80% houses in the state hung Swami Vivekananda. He further asked the Mahila Morcha of the BJP to distribute pictures of Swami Vivekananda to every household in the State. The BJP Chief Minister elaborated that this observation comes from his own experience from his village where people hung photos og Jyoti Basu, Joseph Stalin, Mao Zedong and others just next to the pictures of gods. He asked his people if they did this, the party will keep its ideologies and sanskars and remain in power. In August, Deb delivered Swami Vivekananda's books to Covid-19 patients with an intent to keep then "mentally strong and motivated".
