Malayalam film industry veteran Mohanlal has resigned from the post of Association of Malayalam Movie Actors (AMMA) president after the massive storm of allegations against multiple members. Besides, the executive committee has been dissolved as many members face sexual misconduct allegations. A new committee will be formed after an election in two months.&nbsp;
AMMA executive committee has been facing severe criticism for failing to act on the findings of the Justice Hema committee report. For the unversed, Siddique and Baburaj who held the positions of general secretary and joint secretary respectively, have been accused of sexual misconduct. Siddique had quit following the allegations while Baburaj continues to hold the position. &nbsp;
The Justice Hema committee report mentions a powerful nexus in Malayalam film industry and a systematic sexual abuse of female actors. The report also points out &lsquo;casting couch&rsquo; and incidents of exploitations of women at different levels in the Mollywood. &nbsp;
Actor Prithiviraj Sukumaran spoke out on the matter and admitted lapses on AMMA&rsquo;s part. Several women including actors have been speaking out since the report came into public domain. However, the bigwigs of the industry like Mammootty and Mohanlal have maintained defeaning silence on the burning issue.

In the new poster, Mohanlal appears in a sleek all-black ensemble, donning a T-shirt layered with a leather jacket and matching trousers. His salt-and-pepper hair, coupled with orange-tinted aviator sunglasses, adds to his tough demeanor. Mohanlal is captured with an intense expression, surrounded by suited bodyguards carrying guns, while he stands unarmed, emphasizing his power and authority.
The poster also announced that &lsquo;L2: Empuraan&rsquo; will be released in five languages: Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi. Mohanlal shared the poster on his Instagram handle.

About &lsquo;L2: Empuraan&rsquo;
&lsquo;L2: Empuraan&rsquo; is the sequel to Mohanlal&rsquo;s 2019 blockbuster Lucifer. It is the second installment of the planned trilogy, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran. Earlier, in an interaction with Film Companion, the director revealed that Mohanlal will portray an unconventional role in the film, unlike his action-oriented stints. &lsquo;You are not going to see Mohanlal wind up as mund and beat up people in a closed-down factory, that is not what I&rsquo;m making. Maybe I&rsquo;ll do one of those Bollywood-ish end title songs,&rsquo; he confirmed.
&lsquo;L2: Empuraan&rsquo; features Prithviraj Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Sachin Khedekar, Saniya Iyappan, Fazil, and Indrajith Sukumaran in important roles alongside Mohanlal. The film is slated for a theatrical release in 2025.

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal&rsquo;s forthcoming film &lsquo;Monster&rsquo; has stirred controversy. The film, which is set to release worldwide on October 21, has reportedly been banned in the Gulf countries due to the LGBTQ content.
According to Indian Express report, the filmmakers will be re-submitting the movie to the censor board after making necessary changes, and the film might not release in Gulf on the same day as India.
&lsquo;Monster&rsquo; will then release in the Gulf countries release next week or on a suitable date following a green signal from the Censor Board.
The makers haven't shared any statement regarding the same so far.
For the unversed, the Gulf countries are one of the major markets for Malayalam film industry.
The investigative thriller has been directed by Vysakh and penned by Uday Krishna. Produced by Antony Perumbavoor of Aashirvad Cinemas, the film also stars Lakshmi Manchu, Siddique, Lena, Honey Rose, Sudev Nair, KB Ganesh Kumar and Johny Antony in supporting roles.

&lsquo;Marakkar Arabikadalinte Simham&rsquo; and &lsquo;Jai Bhim&rsquo; are among the 276 films that have been eligible for the 94th&nbsp;academy awards&nbsp;list.&nbsp;
Not just this, Priyanka Chopra Jonas-starrer &lsquo;The Matrix Resurrections&rsquo; has also made it to the Oscars list.&nbsp;
While the list of films eligible for the Best Picture race is out, the nominations will be announced on February 8.&nbsp;
Meanwhile, the 94th Academy Awards are scheduled to be held on March 27 in the Dolby Theatre at the Hollywood &amp; Highland Centre.&nbsp;
