The Elephant Whisperers&rsquo;, directed by Kartiki Gonsalves and produced by Guneet Monga, scripted history at the 95th Academy Awards as it bagged the Oscar in the Best Documentary Short category. After the Oscar win, Kartiki arrived in Chennai holding the Oscars statuette. She met Bomman and Belli, who played the lead roles in the documentary and shared an adorable picture of them holding the trophy.
Sharing the picture, Kartiki wrote, &lsquo;It&rsquo;s been a long four months since we&rsquo;ve been apart and now I feel like I&rsquo;m home&hellip;.. @theelephantwhisperers.&rsquo;

Bomman and Bellie made headlines after the Netflix documentary 'The Elephant Whisperers' based on their journey to foster elephant calves won the prestigious Academy Awards this year

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin felicitated Bomman and Bellie, the couple featured in the Oscar-winning documentary 'The Elephant Whisperers'
The chief minister announced an award of ₹1 lakh to each of them and presented them with a shield and shawl. He has also awarded ₹1&nbsp; lakh to all 91 workers at the two elephant camps in Tamil Nadu.
Directed by Kartiki Gonsalves and produced by Guneet Monga, 'The Elephant Whisperers' is a tale of two orphan baby elephants and their foster family.&nbsp;
Kartiki Gonsalves expressed joy over Stalin meeting the couple.
"Overjoyed and so proud to see Bomman &amp; Bellie honoured by our honourable Chief Minister @mkstalin after 'The Elephant Whisperers' won the first academy award for India for an independent film at 95th Academy Awards," she said in a tweet.&nbsp;

AR Rahman thinks India sends the wrong films to the Oscars 

This year Two Indian films, one in Tamil and one in Telugu, won Oscar awards which include , 'The Elephant Whisperers' and 'RRR'.

According to AR Rahman, India has been submitting the incorrect movies to the Oscars. He thinks it it is important to put ourselves in the shoes of the 'Westerners'.

Music director AR Rahman believes that India is not sending the right movies to the Oscars. He said that despite being nominated Indian films don't win the award because Indian filmmakers fail see the film from a Westerner's perspective.&nbsp;
&ldquo;I occasionally observe that despite being nominated for an Oscar, our films are unsuccessful. Wrong movies are being nominated for the Oscars from India. And all I can say is DON'T. We must put ourselves in the shoes of others. To understand what is going on, I must put myself in the position of a Westerner. To understand what they are doing, I need to be in their position," he said.&nbsp;
Rahman, an Oscar winner himself, made the remarks in an interview to musician L Subramaniam conducted in January but the video of the conversation has been released now.&nbsp;
AR Rahman &nbsp;was invited to become a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) which hosts the Oscars after his historic win in 2009. The singer-composer is now a regular voter and has been watching the films that qualify and get nominated. &nbsp;

In a recent interview, Jr NTR and Ram Charan were asked about their thoughts on why their blockbuster film &lsquo;RRR&rsquo; was not chosen as India's official entry at the Oscars.
Jr NTR told Variety, &lsquo;I don&rsquo;t think there is a lot of politics going on with what films should go. I think the panel, which is sitting down there knows what they do the best... Hindi has primarily been a national language for a very long time and that&rsquo;s why it has taken prominence. For us, choose RRR or don&rsquo;t choose RRR, RRR has already made us proud.&rsquo;
Ram Charan, in a light-hearted fashion, said, &lsquo;He (Jr. NTR) is being really humble but I want these two awards... I just don&rsquo;t want to jinx it.&rsquo;
Jr NTR was also asked if both the actors could see themselves swapping their roles in the film. He said that his co-star Ram Charan is more of an introvert in real life, so he can definitely see him in more of the 'water' zone for the movie.

RRR also stars Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in pivotal roles. The film was released in theatres in March this year. The film collected over ₹1200 crore worldwide.

Saim Saqid's critically-acclaimed film 'Joyland' has been banned by Pakistani authorities allegedly over 'highly objectionable material'. The film is Pakistan's official entry to Oscars 2023 and has been acclaimed world over in film festivals.&nbsp; &nbsp; A certificate was issued by the government clearing the movie for public viewing on August 17 this year. However, recently, objections were raised over its contents which led the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to ban the film to avoid backlash by conservative elements in the country.&nbsp; &nbsp; The ministry in its notification of November 11 said that written complaints were received regarding film's highly objectionable material which do not conform with the social values and moral standards of society and is clearly repugnant to the norms of decency and morality as laid down in Section 9 of the Motion Picture Ordinance of 1979.&nbsp; &nbsp; Saim Sadiq's directorial debut was scheduled to release in theatres in Pakistan on November 18. The film narrates the story of a family's youngest son who secretly joins an erotic dance theatre and falls for a transwoman. &lsquo;Joyland&rsquo; stars Sania Saeed, Ali Junejo, Alina Khan, Sarwat Gilani, Rasti Farooq, Salmaan Peerzada and Sohail Sameer.&nbsp; &nbsp; Several people have criticised the film&rsquo;s ban.
