Delhi High Court will hear a plea on Monday seeking disqualification of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for six years for allegedly seeking votes in the name of religious deities and places of worship for Lok Sabha polls, LiveLaw outlet reported.
It comes a day after the Election Commission flagged Prime Minister Modi and Rahul Gandhi for the alleged hate speeches made during an election rally.&nbsp;
The letters from the EC to the two-party presidents did not directly name either Modi, Gandhi or Kharge, but the representations received by it were attached to the respective letters and they contained details of allegations against the three leaders.
The EC has also asked the Congress to respond to complaints filed by the BJP against the main opposition party's president Mallikarjun Kharge and its senior leader Rahul Gandhi regarding their remarks.
In the notice sent to Nadda, the Election Commission sought his response by Monday to the complaints filed by the Congress, CPI, CPI (ML) and civil society groups regarding the remarks made by Modi on April 21 in Banswara.
These complaints had referred to Modi's allegations that the Congress wanted to redistribute the wealth of the people to Muslims and that the opposition party won't even spare the 'mangalsutra' of women.
The speech led to a major political slugfest with the Congress and other opposition parties accusing the prime minister of making false claims and the BJP alleging that the Congress was nursing an agenda of Muslim appeasement at the cost of weaker sections of the society.
The EC also asked Nadda to bring to the notice of all star campaigners of the party to "set high standards of political discourse and observe provisions of model code of conduct in letter and spirit".
The poll panel also said that campaign speeches made by those holding high positions have more serious consequences.
Officials said it is the first time that the panel has taken cognisance of a complaint against any prime minister.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the EC had given a clean chit to Modi on complaints lodged by the opposition parties. Then election commissioner, Ashok Lavasa, gave a dissent note on some of the decisions taken by the EC on complaints against the prime minister.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleged on Sunday that the TMC desires a free license for corruption and violence in West Bengal, which is why central agencies investigating such cases face attacks in the state.

"The TMC government seeks to have a free pass for looting and terror in Bengal. To shield its extortionist and corrupt leaders, the TMC orchestrates attacks on central investigative agencies when they come here," he said.
Modi's comments come a day after an NIA team was allegedly attacked by a mob on Saturday when attempting to arrest two main suspects in a 2022 blast case in West Bengal's Purba Medinipur district.
"The TMC is a party that disrespects India's constitution and Rule of Law," he said.
The attack on NIA on Saturday evoked memories of January 5 when a team of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) was attacked by a mob in North 24 Parganas district's Sandeshkhali during a search at the house of TMC leader Shajahan Sheikh, who was later suspended, in connection with alleged irregularities in the public distribution system.
Modi mentioned that the situation in the state is such that "the court has to intervene" in various matters.
The prime minister accused the TMC government of impeding the implementation of the Centre's welfare schemes for the poor in the state.
"The TMC is not allowing the central funds to reach the poor people of the state. They want the central funds in their own account first. The syndicate Raj of TMC is going on across West Bengal. The TMC government is putting brakes on central schemes for the welfare of the poor," he said.
Claiming that the Enforcement Directorate has attached properties worth Rs 3,000 crore from corrupt leaders of the TMC in various corruption cases in Bengal, Modi said suggestions are being taken on ways to return the money to those who have given it.
"I guarantee you that the money looted by corrupt leaders will be given back to the poor people who had to give money to get jobs," he said.
Modi alleged that the opposition alliance is busy indulging in politics of lies and deceit.
"I am saying remove corruption; the opposition is saying 'save the corrupt.' I will ensure the corrupt are punished, and the poor get justice. After June 4 (when Lok Sabha poll results will be announced), more stringent action will be taken against the corrupt," he said.
The prime minister said, "The TMC, Left, and the Congress have formed INDI Alliance to protect the corrupt." Referring to recent incidents in Sandeshkhali, where allegations of sexual abuse against TMC leaders emerged, Modi assured people that the culprits of Sandeshkhali will spend the rest of their lives in jail.
"The entire country has witnessed what happened in Sandeshkhali. Don't you think Sandeshkhali culprits should get strong punishment?" he remarked.
During a rally at Cooch Behar on April 4, Modi had said that the culprits of Sandeshkhali will have to spend the rest of their lives in jail.
Urging people to elect a strong and stable government, Modi said, "The stronger the central government, the stronger the trust of the world in Bharat." "I work 24x7 for 2047. The past 10 years of the NDA government were dedicated to easing the lives of marginalized communities. You supported me, and I decided to transform the landscape of India. What you have seen in the last 10 years is just a trailer," he said.
The prime minister also came down heavily on AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge, without mentioning him by name, who recently objected to raising the issue of the abrogation of Article 370 by BJP leaders during poll campaigns in other states.
"The Congress president thinks Article 370 has nothing to do with other states. Is Jammu and Kashmir not an integral part of the country? This reflects their divisive mindset. It was Syama Prasad Mookerjee, a Bengali, who fought against Article 370 and gave his life for the cause," said Modi.
Reaching out to the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe population of the Jalpaiguri constituency, he said the BJP has facilitated the empowerment of all during the last decade, including the SC/ST community and women.
"TMC is against the interests of the poor and the SC/ST community," he said.
To woo lakhs of tea garden workers in the region, Modi blamed the TMC for being &ldquo;responsible for the woes of the tea industry in West Bengal." "TMC is against the interests of the tea garden workers of West Bengal and has consistently exploited them. The TMC leaders have bungalows, but the tea garden workers are deprived of benefits,&rdquo; he said.
The TMC dubbed Modi's allegations as baseless.
"The prime minister was speaking of corruption, but the BJP shelters corrupt people. And regarding attacks on central agencies, these agencies are working as frontal organisations of the BJP and are targeting TMC leaders," TMC leader Santanu Sen said.
At the beginning of his speech, Modi expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in a storm in Jalpaiguri last week.

Later speaking to ANI news agency, Nazim said he was happy about sharing his journey with PM Modi. &ldquo;Today, there are several schemes of the Govt that support India&rsquo;s entrepreneurs but when I started, there was just one scheme&hellip;I am really happy that I was chosen to speak with PM Modi today&hellip;PM Modi asked me about my journey and he also gave some suggestions. In the end, I requested PM Modi to take a selfie with me and he fulfilled my request. That was really beautiful.&rdquo;
Nazim Nazir, who is an apiculturist, narrated his journey as an entrepreneur began. He said that when he was in Class 10, he started his beekeeping business.
"I had kept two bee boxes on my terrace. After returning from school, I used to go to my terrace and take care of the bees. After completing my Class 10, I started thinking about how to turn this into a business," he said.
Nazim said he later took a Rs 5 lakh loan under the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Program (PMEGP) and bought 25 bee boxes with a 50% subsidy.
"At first, I extracted 75 kg of honey. I sold this honey in my village and earned Rs 60,000, my first earnings. My family was happy. I became very motivated," Nazim said.
Nazim then decided to extend his presence online and launched his website in 2020. He now sells over 1000 kg of honey every year.
"In 2023, I had 2000 bee boxes and sold over 5,000 kg honey," said Nazim, who now has over 100 people working with him.
Hearing this, PM Modi lauded Nazim, saying, "We have heard about the White Revolution and Green Revolution. But today, due to youngsters like Nazim, our Kashmir is witnessing a Sweet Revolution."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a roadshow and address a public meeting after inaugurating an airport in the temple town of Ayodhya on December 30, officials said on Sunday.
He will also inaugurate the redeveloped railway station in Ayodhya. The airport will be inaugurated ahead of the consecration ceremony at the Ram temple on January 22.
According to an official, the roadshow will cover a distance of about 15 km between the airport and the railway station and pass through Dharam Path, Lata Mangeshkar Chowk, Ram Path, Tedhi Bazaar and Mohabra intersection.
Ayodhya District Magistrate Nitish Kumar told PTI, "The prime minister will inaugurate the Ayodhya airport first and then he will move to the railway station in a roadshow." At the railway station, he will flag off Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat trains. The prime minister will then return to the airport by road and address a public meeting there.
On the route of the roadshow, cultural programmes will be staged at 51 places and sages and sants will bless the prime minister.
The first flight to Ayodhya is scheduled to reach at 11.20 am after taking off from Delhi at 10 am.
The prime minister will also lay the foundation of a five-kilometer-long flyover between the railway station to the airport.
Modi is also expected to visit the famed Hanuman Garhi Temple.&nbsp;

Prime Minister has issued a statement ahead of his departure for the BRICS summit in South Africa

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that the BRICS summit will provide a useful opportunity for its members to identify future areas of cooperation and review institutional development.
In his departure statement ahead of visiting South Africa to attend the 15th BRICS summit, he said BRICS has been pursuing a strong cooperation agenda across various sectors. &nbsp;"We value that BRICS has become a platform for discussing and deliberating on issues of concern for the entire Global South, including development imperatives and reform of the multilateral system," he said.
This summit will provide a useful opportunity for BRICS to identify future areas of cooperation and review institutional development, he said.
Noting that he will also participate in the 'BRICS&ndash;Africa Outreach' and 'BRICS Plus Dialogue' events that will be held as part of the summit activities, Modi said he looked forward to interacting with a number of guest countries that have been invited to participate in this event.
"I also look forward to holding bilateral meetings with some of the Leaders present in Johannesburg," he said.
Modi is visiting the South African city from August 22 to 24 to attend the 15th BRICS summit at the invitation of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.
It will be the first in-person summit of BRICS comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, since 2019. &nbsp;From South Africa, the prime minister said, he will travel to Athens, Greece on August 25 at the invitation of his Greece counterpart Kyriakos Mitsotakis, he noted that this will be his first visit to this ancient land.
"I have the honour to be the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Greece after 40 years," he said.
Contacts between our two civilizations stretch back over two millennia and, in modern times, our ties have been strengthened by shared values of democracy, rule of law and pluralism, he said.
Cooperation in diverse sectors such as trade and investment, defence, and cultural and people-to-people contacts have been bringing our two countries closer, he added.

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi on Tuesday said the opposition bloc INDIA was forced to bring the no-confidence motion against the government to break Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "vow of silence" on Manipur.
Initiating the debate on the motion in the Lok Sabha, Gogoi alleged that a government which talks about "one India has created two Manipurs -- one living in hills and the other in the valley".
As the lower house took up the motion moved by Gogoi, there were heated exchanges between the opposition and treasury benches after Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi wondered why Rahul Gandhi's name as lead speaker was withdrawn last minute.
Gogoi's response that should the remarks made by the prime minister in Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla's chamber be revealed in the House evoked a sharp retort from Home Minister Amit Shah who said the member cannot make unsubstantiated claims about the PM.
Gogoi submitted his motion -- 'This House expresses want of confidence in the council of ministers' -- before the House and then made his statement.
He said the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) parties were forced to bring the no-confidence motion as this was never about numbers but about justice for Manipur.
"Manipur demands justice. Martin Luther King Jr had said injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. If Manipur is burning, the whole of India is burning, if Manipur is divided, the country is divided. It was our demand that as the leader of the country, Prime Minister Modi should come to the House and speak about Manipur. However, he kept a 'maun vrat (vow of silence) that he will neither speak in the Lok Sabha nor in the Rajya Sabha," Gogoi said.
"Through the no-confidence motion we want to break his vow of silence," he said.
Gogoi said he would like to ask the prime minister why had he not gone to Manipur, when Rahul Gandhi had gone as had Home Minister Shah and the minister of state for home (Nityanand Rai).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday that the no-confidence motion brought by the opposition is a reflection of mutual distrust among INDIA bloc parties as they want to test who is with their proposal and who is not, sources said.
In his address to party MPs at the BJP parliamentary meeting, he described the opposition alliance as 'ghamandia' (marked by arrogance) and congratulated the party's Rajya Sabha members for the "semi-final" win in voting on the Delhi services bill.
Modi, sources said, noted that some opposition members had described the voting in Rajya Sabha as a semi-final before the 2024 Lok Sabha polls as he exuded confidence about the BJP's prospects in the national elections.
The Delhi services bill secured parliamentary approval on Monday after the Rajya Sabha passed the contentious measure that will give the Centre control over bureaucracy in the national capital, with the BJP-led NDA thwarting opposition challenge in the keenly-watched numbers game.
With the ruling party certain to defeat the no-confidence motion in Lok Sabha, where it enjoys a strong majority, Modi told party MPs hit "sixers" on the last ball before the 2024 polls.
He also referred to his 2018 speech in which he had wryly wished to the Opposition to bring a no-confidence motion against his government in 2023.
In a swipe at opposition parties, the prime minister said their leaders speak of social justice but harmed it most with their dynastic, appeasement and corrupt politics.
He reiterated his call for corruption, and dynastic and appeasement politics to quit India.

The tweets claim that during a no-confidence motion speech in 2018, the Prime Minister had said that the Opposition will bring a similar notice against him in 2023.
The clip posted with the tweets is however from Prime Minister Modi's speech in Lok Sabha on February 07, 2019. The speech was a Motion of Thanks to the address made by the President at the beginning of the Parliament session.&nbsp;
However, during the reply to the no-confidence motion debate on July 20, 2018, the prime minister did touch upon the issue of the Opposition bringing in another such notice. The year mentioned by him however was 2024.&nbsp;

The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on July 25had said the facility, built following an overhaul of the old and outdated structures at Pragati Maidan, was developed as a national project at a cost of about Rs 2,700 crore and has a campus area of approximately 123 acres.
The IECC complex has been developed as India's largest MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) destination. In terms of the covered space available for events, the complex finds its place among the top exhibition and convention complexes in the world, it said.
It comprises multiple state-of-the-art facilities including the convention centre, exhibition halls and amphitheatres among others, the PMO said, adding the new facility is in line with Modi's vision of having a world-class infrastructure for hosting meetings.&nbsp;

The constitution of both countries begins with the "three words -We the People- as President Biden just mentioned", said Modi, who is on his first state visit to the US.
Thanking Biden, his wife Jill Biden and the US administration for a warm and grand welcome, Modi said this is the first time the gates of the White House have been opened for Indian-Americans in such large numbers.
"This grand welcome ceremony at the White House today is an honour and pride for the 1.4 billion people of India. It is also an honour for more than 4 million people of Indian origin in the US," Modi said.

Modi met Biden one-on-one in the Oval Office of the White House before holding delegation-level talks.
This is the second interaction between the two leaders within 24 hours.
President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden hosted Prime Minister Modi for an intimate dinner at the White House a day earlier during which they discussed a range of issues, exchanged gifts and enjoyed a musical tribute to the regions of India.
The day began with President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden greeting Prime Minister Modi for the Official Arrival Ceremony on the South Lawn. The two national anthems were played along with a 21-gun salute to the visiting leader.
In his remarks at the welcome ceremony, Modi said he will soon hold talks with President and discuss regional and global issues. "I am sure our talks will be positive." Modi said India and US are committed to working together for global good and peace, stability and prosperity.
