In line with his commitment to make air travel safe, affordable and accessible to all, PM Modi laid the foundation stone of Maharaja Agrasen Airport's new terminal building to be built at an estimated cost of over Rs 410 crore.
It will include a state-of-the-art passenger terminal, a cargo terminal and an ATC building. The project is targeted to be completed in two years.
About Modi flagging off the inaugural flight from here to Ayodhya, a statement had earlier said that scheduled flights from Hisar to Ayodhya twice a week, and three flights in a week to Jammu, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Chandigarh will mark a significant leap in Haryana's aviation connectivity.
Modi is in Haryana to launch several development initiatives worth Rs 10,000 crore in the state on Monday to mark the birth anniversary of Bhim Rao Ambedkar, an iconic figure known for his role in Dalit emancipation and framing the Constitution.

Addressing a gathering after laying the foundation stone of 44 projects worth Rs 3,880 crore here, he said, "Our guiding mantra in serving the nation has always been 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas'. With this spirit, we continue to move forward for the betterment of every citizen".
He said in contrast, those who are power hungry play political games day and night, driven not by national interest but by a single-minded focus on family-based support and family-centric development.
"Those who play games day and night only to grab power, their principle is 'parivar ka saath, parivar ka vikas' (family support, family development)," the prime minister said in his Parliamentary constituency.
Modi, who began his speech by greeting the people in Bhojpuri, also paid tribute to Dalit reformer Mahatma Jyotiba Phule on his birth anniversary, recognising his contributions to social equality and women's empowerment.
"Today, we are carrying forward their ideas with new energy," he said while reiterating his government's focus to all round development.
Elaborating on his constituency's makeover over the last decade, he said, "Earlier, Purvanchal lacked health facilities but today Kashi is becoming the region's health capital." "About 10-11 years ago, there were problems related to availing medical treatment in the region. Today, my Kashi is becoming the health capital too." "Major hospitals from Delhi and Mumbai have now not only become accessible for people in the region, but have also ensured dignity for patients," he said referring to the opening of branches of several prominent hospitals here.
Highlighting the city's transformative journey over the past decade, he stated, "In the last 10 years, the development of Banaras has gained a new momentum. Kashi has always preserved its heritage and has taken steps towards a bright future. Today, Kashi is not just ancient, but my Kashi is also progressive." Speaking on the region's contribution to development, PM Modi remarked, "Today Kashi is pulling the chariot of development of Purvanchal." "Today, India is moving ahead with both development and heritage together and our Kashi is becoming the best model for this," he said, adding, "The soul of India resides in its diversity and Kashi is its most beautiful picture".
He also spoke about initiatives like the Kashi Tamil Sangamam that help strengthen national unity.
On the economic front, PM Modi underlined Uttar Pradesh's changing trajectory. "Uttar Pradesh is no longer just a land of possibilities, now it is capable and the land of resolution," he said, noting how "Made in India" products are gaining global recognition.
"Today, UP is number one in GI tagging in the whole country. That means our culture, our things, our skills are rapidly getting international recognition," he said observing that dozens of products from Varanasi and its surrounding districts have received GI tags, including the city's famous tabla and shehnai, wall paintings and sweets like red peda and barfi.
Modi also said that his government is working to ensure that the 2036 Olympics take place in India.
Addressing the youth, the PM said, "There is also a lot of emphasis on the fact that the youth of Kashi should get continuous opportunities to progress in India and now we are working towards ensuring that the Olympics are held in India in 2036." Urging the youth of Varanasi to work hard so that they "win medals" in the 2036 Olympics, PM Modi spoke about how the sports infrastructure in his constituency was being developed with an eye on the future.
"Today, new stadiums are being built in Banaras, new facilities are being created for the youth, a new sports complex has opened, hundreds of players from Varanasi are getting trained there," he said.
He concluded with a call to preserve the ancient soul of Kashi while advancing into the future.
"One who saves (sahejta) Kashi also saves the soul of India. We have to keep making Kashi strong. We have to keep Kashi beautiful and ensure that it becomes modern while preserving its ancient soul," he said.
Among the projects inaugurated by Modi were schemes focused on rural development, including 130 drinking water projects, 100 new anganwadi centres, 356 libraries, a polytechnic college in Pindra, and a government degree college, Varanasi Divisional Commissioner Kaushal Raj Sharma said.
The prime minister also inaugurated a transit hostel at the police lines and police barracks in Ramnagar and four rural roads.
Earlier on his arrival, the prime minister received a detailed briefing on the alleged gang-rape of a young woman in his constituency and asked officials to take the strictest possible action against those involved, according to a state government statement.
The prime minister was briefed by the police commissioner, divisional commissioner and district magistrate on the "recent criminal rape incident in the city", the statement said.
"He instructed them to take the strictest possible action against the culprits and to implement appropriate measures to prevent such incidents in the future," it said.
The case involves the alleged gang-rape of a 19-year-old woman by 23 individuals over six days.
This was Modi's 50th visit to Varanasi after becoming prime minister in 2014, according to BJP Metropolitan President of Varanasi Pradeep Agrahari.

Anandpur Dham is located in Anandpur village of Isagarh tehsil. It is about 30 km from Ashoknagar district headquarters and about 215 km from Bhopal.
PM Modi will take darshan and perform pooja at Guru Ji Maharaj temple in Isagarh around 3.15 pm. An hour later, he will participate in a public programme at Anandpur Dham and address a gathering on the occasion, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) said in a release.
Anandpur Dham has been established for spiritual and philanthropic purposes. Spread over an area of 315 hectares, it houses a modern gaushala (cowshed) with over 500 cows and runs agricultural activities under Shri Anandpur Trust campus, it said.
The trust has been operating a charitable hospital in Sukhpur village, schools in Sukhpur and Anandpur and various Satsang Centers across the country, the release added.
This is PM Modi's second visit to MP this year. Earlier, he visited Bageshwar Dham in Chhatarpur district on February 23, and inaugurated the Global Investors Summit in state capital Bhopal the next day.

The Congress on Wednesday alleged that the celebration of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties by India and China is a clear signal that the Modi government has decided to accept the "greatest loss of Indian territory in decades, surrendering over 2,000 sq km of land in Ladakh in the guise of disengagement".
In a statement, Congress General Secretary, Communications, Jairam Ramesh demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should take the people of the country into confidence and explain why he is normalising relations with China.
He said there is consistency in the prime minister's approach which started with his "clean chit" to China after the Galwan incident and alleged that the government has failed to assuage widespread concerns over the India-China agreement that represents a major "setback to India&rsquo;s territorial integrity and national interest".
"We reiterate our demand that the Prime Minister take the people into confidence on this issue of critical national importance and explain why we are normalising relations with China and deepening our economic dependence on them even as our territorial integrity remains so gravely compromised," Ramesh said in his statement.
He said yesterday, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Chinese Ambassador Xu Feihong jointly cut a cake to celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and China and President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi exchanged greetings with their respective Chinese counterparts President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang.
"What takes the cake is how this is a clear signal that the Modi government has decided to accept the greatest loss of Indian territory in decades, surrendering over 2,000 sq km of land in Ladakh in the guise of disengagement.
"There is a consistency in the PM&rsquo;s pusillanimous approach to China. It started with the infamous public clean chit he gave to China, when he declared 'Na koi hamari seema mein ghus aaya hai, na hi koi ghusa hua hai' on live television, only four days after 20 of our brave soldiers made the supreme sacrifice in Galwan on 15 June 2020," the Congress leader said.
"It continues today in the Modi Government&rsquo;s failure to safeguard our sovereignty while pursuing normalisation with China. More than four months after the signing of the disengagement agreement of 21 October 2024, the Indian government has failed to assuage widespread concerns that the agreement represents a major setback to India&rsquo;s territorial integrity and national interest," he said.
In this regard, he cited several "disturbing facts" that have been reported and alleged that the Modi government has emasculated the very idea of the patrol as a signal of territorial assertion.
Today, he said, Indian patrols need Chinese concurrence to access five locations in the strategically important Depsang Plains (Patrolling Points 10, 11, 11A, 12 and 13).
Chinese concurrence is also reportedly required for patrols in Demchok and Chumar.
"In Galwan, the 'buffer zone' that Indian troops are prevented from entering has been set 1 km inside the Indian claim line. This means Chinese troops are posted close to our claim line while Indian troops are more than 2.4 km away.
"In Hot Spring, the buffer zone has in effect moved the LAC 1-3 km inside the Indian claim line. In Pangong Tso, the &ldquo;buffer zone&rdquo; prevents our troops from going beyond Finger 3 when earlier they could go 10 km further to Finger 8," he said.
This, the Congress leader said, is nowhere close to the status quo that existed prior to April 2020 &ndash; which has been the consistent demand made by our Armed Forces and defence establishment.
Instead, it represents significant territorial losses for India vis-&agrave;-vis our position before April 2020, he claimed.
"Even amidst the Chinese incursions on our sovereignty, our economic dependence on China continues to grow. Chinese imports have exceeded USD 100 billion and are headed higher in 2024-25, with our trade deficit vis-&agrave;-vis China also hitting record highs...," Ramesh said.
India and China have made "promising" beginnings to repair their ties in the last five months and a "durable base" for rebuilding the relations depends on a threefold formula of mutual respect, mutual sensitivity and mutual interest, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said on Tuesday.
As two large neighbours in an important part of the world, a stable bilateral relationship between India and China would contribute to humanity as a whole, he said.
The foreign secretary was speaking at an event hosted by the Chinese embassy on the occasion of the establishment of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
It was for the first time that a high-level Indian official attended an event hosted by the Chinese embassy since the ties between the two neighbours came under severe strain following the clash at Galwan Valley in eastern Ladakh in June 2020.

The minister also said the Waqf Bill will be renamed as Unified Waqf Management Empowerment, Efficiency and Development (UMEED) Bill.
According to the Bill, the Waqf tribunals will be strengthened, a structured selection process will be maintained, and a tenure will be fixed to ensure efficient dispute resolution.
It also proposes that non-Muslim members will be included in the central and state Waqf boards for inclusivity.
A centralised portal will automate Waqf property management, improving efficiency and transparency, according to the legislation.

In a recent appearance on the podcast hosted by American scientist Lex Fridman, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed strong criticisms of international organizations, particularly the United Nations, amid escalating global tensions.
He described these institutions as "almost irrelevant" due to their lack of reform and inability to mitigate ongoing conflicts, such as those in the Middle East and the strained relations between China and the United States.
"The international organizations created to maintain global order have become nearly irrelevant. There is no reform within them, and they fail to fulfill their intended roles.
Those who disregard laws and norms act with impunity, and no one seems capable of restraining them," Modi remarked during the podcast.
Reflecting on the COVID-19 pandemic, Modi emphasized how it showcased the vulnerabilities of even the most advanced nations, highlighting a need for greater unity in a globally volatile climate.&nbsp;
"COVID-19 laid bare our limitations. Regardless of how progressive or scientifically advanced we may consider ourselves, during the pandemic, every country was brought back to reality.
We believed the world might emerge more united, moving towards a new order. Instead, we encountered increasing discord and uncertainty, exacerbated by conflicts," Modi observed.
He promoted a vision of cooperation over conflict, urging nations to adopt a development-focused approach. "In an interconnected and interdependent world, expansionism is unsustainable.
All nations need one another; no country can thrive in isolation. At every international forum I attend, the worry about conflicts is palpable. Hopefully, we'll soon see respite," he added.
Previously, in an address to the UN's 'Summit of the Future', Modi stressed the importance of reform for the UN's continued relevance, insisting that global actions must align with global ambitions.

India has long advocated for a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), asserting that the council, established in 1945, does not reflect the current geopolitical landscape.
India last served as a non-permanent member in 2021-22 and criticizes the UNSC for not meeting the challenges of the 21st century.
Currently, the UNSC consists of five permanent members&mdash;Russia, the UK, China, France, and the United States&mdash;who hold veto power, along with 10 non-permanent members elected for two-year terms by the UN General Assembly.

Earlier on Tuesday, Mauritian Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam announced that Modi will be conferred with the nation&rsquo;s highest honour, 'The Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean'.
At a community event, Modi termed Mauritius as a bridge between India and the Global South, and said that the island nation is part of India's family and not just a partner country.
&ldquo;Mauritius is like 'Mini India',&rdquo; Modi told the Indian diaspora at the community event in Port Louis, which was also attended by Ramgoolam, his wife and cabinet ministers. &ldquo;This bond is deep and strongly rooted in history, heritage and the human spirit.&rdquo;
Modi also met Mauritius President Dharam Gokhool and exchanged views on deepening the special and close bilateral ties.

"Today, I will be meeting President Dharam Gokhool, PM Navinchandra Ramgoolam and addressing a community programme in the evening," the post said.
He was welcomed at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport by his Mauritius counterpart Navinchandra Ramgoolam with a garland.
Ramgoolam was joined by the Deputy Prime Minister, Chief Justice of Mauritius, Speaker of the National Assembly, Leader of the Opposition, Foreign Minister, Cabinet Secretary, Chairperson of Grand Port District Council and many others.
There were a total of 200 dignitaries present to welcome Modi.
During the visit at the invitation of Ramgoolam, the two countries will sign several pacts providing for cooperation in the areas of capacity building, trade and tackling cross-border financial crimes.
Before leaving for Mauritius, Modi on Monday said that his visit would open a "new and bright" chapter in the ties between the two nations.
Modi will call on the president of Mauritius, meet the prime minister, and hold meetings with senior dignitaries and leaders of political parties in the island nation.
He will also interact with the members of the Indian community, and inaugurate the civil service college and the area health centre, both built with India's grant assistance.
In his departure statement, the prime minister said he was looking forward to engaging with the leadership of Mauritius to elevate "our partnership in all its facets and strengthen our enduring friendship for the progress and prosperity of our peoples".
A contingent of Indian armed forces will participate in the celebrations on Wednesday along with a warship of the Indian Navy and the Akash Ganga skydiving team of the Indian Air Force.
"Mauritius is a close maritime neighbour, a key partner in the Indian Ocean, and a gateway to the African Continent. We are connected by history, geography and culture," Modi said.
"Deep mutual trust, a shared belief in the values of democracy, and celebration of our diversity are our strengths," he said.
The prime minister said the close and historical people-to-people connection between the two sides is a source of shared pride.
Modi last visited Mauritius in 2015.
India is amongst the largest trading partners of Mauritius, a former British and French colony that gained independence in 1968.
A key reason for the special ties is the fact that Indian-origin people comprise nearly 70 per cent of the island nation's population of 1.2 million (12 lakhs).
Ahead of the Prime Minister's visit, India on Saturday said it supports the island nation in its efforts to reach a mutually beneficial deal with the UK over the Chagos Islands in the Indian Ocean.
The issue is expected to figure in Modi's talks with Mauritian Prime Minister Ramgoolam.
In October last year, the UK announced its decision to hand over the sovereignty of the Chagos Islands to Mauritius after more than half a century under a historic agreement.

It comes a day after the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs headed by him approved two major ropeway projects to Kedarnath and Hemkund Sahib worth over Rs 6,000 crore.
The Uttarakhand government has initiated a Winter Tourism programme this year to promote religious tourism and boost the local economy, homestays and businesses, among others.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami extended a warm welcome to the prime minister in a post on X.

The Congress on Wednesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already declared the Adani issue to be a personal matter and asked whether he would oblige the US Securities and Exchanges Commission's (SEC) request in the ongoing probe against the business group.
The opposition party's assertion came after the SEC told a federal judge in New York that its efforts to serve its complaint on Gautam Adani and Sagar Adani in the alleged bribery scheme are &ldquo;ongoing&rdquo;. This included a request for assistance to the Indian authorities. &nbsp;
Congress general secretary in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh said the SEC has just informed a New York district court that it has sought the assistance of the Modi government to serve complaints on the violations of US laws by Gautam Adani and some of his colleagues. &nbsp;
"The PM has already declared the Modani issue to be a personal matter. Will he oblige the SEC?" Ramesh said on X. &nbsp;
To a question on whether the issue relating to Adani figured in the talks, Modi said at a joint media briefing with Donald Trump in Washington last week: "India is a democracy and our culture is 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam'. We consider the whole world as one family. I believe every Indian is mine." &nbsp;
"Two prominent leaders of two countries never discuss such individual issues," he said. &nbsp;
The SEC submitted a status update Tuesday to Judge Nicholas Garaufis at the United States District Court, Eastern District of New York, regarding its efforts to serve its complaint on Gautam Adani and Sagar Adani. &nbsp;
It said both "are located in India, and the SEC&rsquo;s efforts to serve them there are ongoing, including through a request for assistance to the Indian authorities to effect service under the Hague Service Convention for Service Abroad of Judicial and Extrajudicial Documents in Civil or Commercial Matters." &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;
The SEC said its complaint dated November 20 last year alleges that Gautam Adani and Sagar Adani violated the anti-fraud provisions of the federal securities laws by "knowingly or recklessly making false and misleading representations concerning Adani Green Energy Ltd in connection with a September 2021 debt offering by Adani Green".
In a parallel action, the US Attorney&rsquo;s Office for the Eastern District of New York unsealed criminal charges against Gautam and Sagar Adani, among other individuals connected to Adani Green and Azure Power.
