Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Manish Tewari are set to be among the Congress representatives in the parliamentary panel that will scrutinise the two bills proposing simultaneous Lok Sabha and state assembly polls, while Kalyan Banerjee of the Trinamool Congress and P Wilson of the DMK are also expected to be its members, sources said.
The BJP, which will have maximum representatives in the joint committee of Parliament, remained tight-lipped about its choices amid a buzz that its seasoned MPs Ravi Shankar Prasad and Anurag Thakur are being considered for the job.
Among the BJP's allies, Shrikant Shinde of the Shiv Sena and Sanjay Jha of the JD(U) may be members of the key panel which is expected to have 21 MPs from Lok Sabha and 10 from Rajya Sabha, the sources said.
Most of the parties have conveyed their choices to the government which will move a motion in Lok Sabha to send the bills to the joint committee. The Speaker will take a final call on the names for the panel and its chairperson.
Sukhdeo Bhagat and Randeep Surjewala are the Congress' other choices for the joint committee of Parliament. Saket Gokhale of the TMC and T M Selvaganapathi of the DMK are also expected to be part of the panel.
The sources said P P Chaudhary is also being considered as the probable BJP choice for the panel in which the saffron party and its allies will be in a majority due to their numerical superiority in Parliament.
While Prasad, a well known lawyer, has held the portfolio of law minister in the previous Modi government, Chaudhary was a deputy minister in the crucial ministry.
From the Telugu Desam Party, the BJP's biggest ally, either Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu or G M Harish Balayogi is likely to be in the panel.
The two 'one nation, one election' (ONOE) bills, including one requiring an amendment in the Constitution, lay down the mechanism to hold simultaneous elections and were introduced in Lok Sabha on Tuesday after a fiery debate.
Opposition parties dubbed the draft laws -- a Constitution amendment bill and an ordinary bill -- as an attack on the federal structure, a charge rejected by the government.
Speaking to reporters on the Parliament premises, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi had termed the bills "anti-constitutional".
"It is against the federalism of our nation. We are opposing the bill," she had said.
The BJP and its allies such as the TDP, JD(U) and Shiv Sena have stoutly defended the bills, saying frequent elections are an obstruction to development programmes and simultaneous polls will boost them by cutting down on election expenditure.

Earlier in the interview on Tuesday, Modi, after ing his nomination for UP's Varanasi Lok Sabha seat, said that the day he resorted to such methods, "us din main sarvyajanik jeevan me rehne yogya nahin rahunga (I won't be fit for public life)".&nbsp;
"I am shocked. Who told you that whenever one talks of people with more children, the inference is they are Muslims? Why are you so unjust towards Muslims?" Modi said. "Main 'Hindu-Mussalman' nahin karunga; yeh mera sankalp hai (I won't play 'Hindu-Muslim' card; that's my vow)."

Lord Ram respected the common people and was committed to fulfilling their wishes, she said.
"What kind of leader do you want? The one who walks for 4,000 km and comes to you to understand your problems or a leader on whose kurta you will not find marks of dust and is scared to come near you. Do you want a leader who wipes your tears or the one who sheds crocodile tears on stage? Do you want a leader who is fearless and speaks the truth irrespective of the pressure or the one who lies throughout," she asked.
She also asked people if they want politics of principles, service and dedication or politics of power and self glory.
Invoking her family's old ties with Nandurbar, she said her grandmother and former PM Indira Gandhi always began her election campaigns from this place.
"She would preserve whatever you gave to her out of love. My mother learnt how to respect you from Indira Gandhi. Sonia Gandhi worked to safeguard your rights over water and forests," she said.
Indira Gandhi used to visit people's houses with bowed head to understand their problems, she said, adding that Rahul Gandhi went across the country to understand people's aspirations and feelings.
"But show me one photograph of Modi ji visiting the houses of tribals and poor people to understand their problems. He comes to you only to achieve his political motives. If the PM said Rs 15 lakh will be deposited in your bank accounts and two crore people will get employment, it should have been done in 10 years," she said.
The Congress general secretary said it is the duty of political leaders to respect the culture and tradition of adivasis, she said, adding that the BJP does not have any respect for these things.
"President Droupadi Murmu, who belongs to the adivasi community, was neither allowed to inaugurate the new Parliament building nor participate in the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. When it comes to actually giving respect, Modi ji backs out," she alleged.
"He says he is fighting alone against corruption...You (PM) have all the power and official machinery at your disposal. Your party leaders say you are the biggest leader in the world enjoying support of heads of state across the globe...You cry like a child during elections saying you have been subjected to abuse.... Have guts Modiji, this is public life," she said.
"Learn from Indira Gandhi...The woman, like Durga, who broke Pakistan into two. Learn from her bravery, courage and determination. But when you call her anti-national, what can you learn from her," she said.
Instead of listening to people's hardships, the prime minister complains about how he was being targeted, Gandhi alleged.
"Politics is a medium of serving people, while Modiji has made politics a means to gain power for himself," she said.
Describing PM Modi as the "messiah" of billionaires and not of the poor, she accused him of lowering the dignity of the top post.
"It is time to see the reality and vote accordingly. Choose your government carefully, choose what kind of leader and government you want. If you make a wrong decision, no one can stop the direction in which the country is going," she told the gathering.
She said the foundation of Congress' politics is to walk on the path of truth and keeping in mind that people of India are supreme.
That foundation was laid down by Mahatma Gandhi and several leaders of the Congress have followed that principle, she said.
"Why do several BJP leaders speak of changing the Constitution. It is because they have been allowed by PM Modi," she claimed.&nbsp;

Sharma was the key person who looked after the two prestigious constituencies on behalf of the Gandhis.
While addressing the people of Amethi before going to Raebareli to attend her brother Rahul Gandhi filing nomination papers, Priyanka said, "I am in a rush because I have to leave for Raebareli to attend the nomination filing of 'bhaiya' (Rahul Gandhi). Kishori Lal Sharma is going to contest from Amethi. You all have known him for the last 40 years. He is very well aware of all the issues faced by Amethi. He has served you for the last 40 years, and I have seen him doing his work diligently. We will fight together and will ensure Kishori Lal Sharma's victory."
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who has been an MP from Amethi thrice, will contest the Lok Sabha election from the Rae Bareli, the constituency held by his mother Sonia Gandhi earlier.
The two seats will go to polls on May 20 in the fifth of the seven-phase general election. In the run up to the polls, speculations were rife that Priyanka Gandhi may contest from either Amethi or Raebareli.
Ending days of suspense, the party early Friday announced the candidates from the two seats. Deliberations had been going on in the party since Thursday on the names of the contenders for the two seats, which have been traditionally held by the members of the Gandhi-Nehru family.
The BJP had on Thursday announced Dinesh Pratap Singh as its candidate from Rae Bareli. He had lost to Sonia Gandhi in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
