Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra delivered her maiden speech in Parliament, using the occasion to highlight constitutional issues and criticize the BJP-led government. In a session commemorating the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution, Gandhi described it as a &ldquo;protective shield of justice, unity, and freedom of expression&rdquo; and accused the ruling party of making attempts to undermine it over the last decade.

 Gandhi began by invoking Babasaheb Ambedkar, crediting him for empowering citizens to demand justice and hold the government accountable. She shared an emotional story of Adnan and Uzair, sons of a tailor killed in Sambhal, who dream of fulfilling their late father&rsquo;s aspirations thanks to the hope instilled by the Constitution.
&ldquo;This dream and hope was instilled in his heart by the Constitution of India,&rdquo; she said, emphasizing the role of the document in shaping the nation&rsquo;s aspirations.
Criticism of BJP Policies
 Gandhi accused the government of attempting to weaken reservations through privatization and lateral entry, asserting, &ldquo;The government is working to dilute the reservation policy, which ensures social justice for marginalized communities.&rdquo; She also highlighted the public demand for a caste-based census, accusing the ruling party of avoiding critical issues during the Lok Sabha elections.
Targeting Corporate Favoritism
 Gandhi did not hold back on the issue of corporate favouritism, particularly naming industrialist Gautam Adani. She accused the government of creating policies that benefit a single individual at the expense of millions of Indians.
&ldquo;All businesses are being handed over to one person&mdash;railways, airports, cold storages&mdash;while 142 crore Indians are being ignored,&rdquo; she alleged. She also mentioned the plight of apple growers in Himachal Pradesh, blaming policies favouring private interests for their struggles.
A Call for Accountability
 Gandhi questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi&rsquo;s response to instances of injustice, including violence in Sambhal and Manipur.
&ldquo;The Prime Minister bows before the Constitution, but when cries for justice echo from Sambhal and Manipur, there isn&rsquo;t a wrinkle on his forehead,&rdquo; she remarked. She also took a swipe at Modi&rsquo;s ideological affiliations, stating, &ldquo;It seems the Prime Minister hasn&rsquo;t understood that it is &lsquo;Bharat ka Samvidhan,&rsquo; not &lsquo;Sangh ka Vidhan.&rsquo;&rdquo;
Appeal for Transparent Elections
 Gandhi concluded by advocating for greater transparency in the electoral process. &ldquo;Conduct elections through a ballot, and the truth will be revealed,&rdquo; she said, challenging the government&rsquo;s credibility.

After casting her vote Priyanka Vadra said that unemployment and inflation are the major issues and everybody wants the election should be fought on these issues.
On being asked about Rahul Gandhi voting for AAP and Arvind Kejriwal voting for Congress in the elections, Priyanka said, "We are keeping aside our grievances and casting votes for our Constitution and democracy. 'Mujhe iss baat par garv hai' (I am proud of this)."
The mother-son duo also clicked a selfie outside the polling station after casting their votes. The riveting contest in Delhi has AAP and Congress jointly taking on the BJP, which won all seven Lok Sabha seats in the national capital in the last two elections. While Congress is contesting on three seats in the national capital, AAP is contesting on four. The two parties are part of the INDIA bloc.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra addressed a public rally in Dausa district on Friday as part of the party's awareness campaign on the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP).
The campaign was launched by party president Mallikarjun Kharge in Baran on Monday.
Speaking at the rally, the Congress leader hit out at the BJP and alleged that the party is working for their industrialist friends, "There is a Congress government in your state... If you see the journey of the last five years, you can say that the Rajasthan Congress tried to make the journey of your life easier... The leaders who truly want that state and country should go forward; they do not look only at themselves; they look for what is good for people... BJP leaders work for themselves and their industrialist friends..."
Polling in all 200 constituencies of the state will be held on November 25 and the counting of votes will be taken up on December 3.

An FIR has been registered here against Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's personal assistant on a complaint from party member and actor Archana Gautam's father who alleged that his daughter was threatened with death, police said on Wednesday.
On a complaint from Gautam's father, Sandeep Singh has been booked under Indian Penal Code sections 504 (intentional insult), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult modesty of a woman), Meerut Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rohit Singh Sajwan said.
He has also been charged under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, the SSP said and added that the case has been registered at the Partapur police station.
In his complaint, Gautam Buddha said Singh had called his daughter to Raipur in Chhattisgarh during the party's plenary session last month saying Priyanka Gandhi wanted to meet her. There he misbehaved with her and also "threatened with death", he said in his complaint.
Gautam Buddha also alleged that Singh made casteist remarks against Archana Gautam, police said and added that he claimed a video of the incident can be obtained from a camera person in Raipur.
Actor-turned-politician and Big Boss-fame Archana Gautam had unsuccessfully contested from the Hastinapur reserved seat in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh assembly polls on a Congress ticket and was considered a Dalit face of the party in the region.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Sunday said that ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, there are expectations from Opposition parties to unite but most expectations are from the Congress.
She also exhorted Congress workers to take the message of the party and the "failures" of the government to the people.
"Now only one year is left for us, there are expectations from us (Opposition), that we will unite. All the Opposition parties and people whose ideology is opposed to them (BJP), must fight unitedly. There are expectations from everyone but the most expectations are from the Congress," the Congress general secretary said at the 85th plenary session of the Congress here.
She hailed the struggles of the Congress workers for fighting for the party.
"We know you have courage to fight BJP, time has come to display that courage for country," Gandhi said.
She said the Congress has to build and strengthen the organisation right from the 'mandala' level.

On the same day, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and former AICC chief Sonia Gandhi will address leaders, as well as political, economic and international affairs resolutions will be deliberated upon at the party's 85th plenary session. A "thanksgiving" statement for former Congress president Sonia Gandhi will also be read out at the session following which she will deliver her address.
On the first day of the session, the Congress steering committee unanimously decided not to hold elections to the CWC and authorised the party chief to nominate its members. The decision was taken at the Kharge-led steering committee meeting which members of the Gandhi family skipped.

Days after Lalu Prasad Yadav was convicted in a corruption case, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra came out in defence of the former Bihar Chief Minister.

24 people were acquitted by the court in the case regarding embezzlement of funds meant for cattle fodder in 1995-96 during Yadav's reign as Chief Minister of undivided Bihar. The quantum of punishment would be announced by the court after arguments on February 21.
The RJD chief has reportedly been convicted in 4 other related cases.

 The Congress leader tweeted that one of the main features of BJP's politics is that whoever refuses to bow before the party is ill-treated in every possible way. Priyanka added that Lalu Yadav is being attacked under this kind of politics, and she hoped that the Rashtriya Janata Dal chief would get justice soon.

 On February 15, Lalu Yadav and 74 others were reportedly pronounced guilty by a CBI court in Ranchi in a case related to the illegal withdrawal of Rs 139 crore from the Doranda treasury. It was the fifth case in the sordid fodder scam saga. 24 people were acquitted by the court in the case regarding embezzlement of funds meant for cattle fodder in 1995-96 during Yadav's reign as Chief Minister of undivided Bihar. The RJD chief has reportedly been convicted in 4 other related cases. The quantum of punishment would be announced by the court after arguments on February 21.

Out of 117 constituencies, the BJP is contesting on 65, while Amarinder's PLC has 37, and the other member of the alliance, Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt) has 15 seats.
Punjab votes on February 20, with results being announced on March 10.

The issue recently came under the spotlight again after Prime Minister Narendra Modi cited it to attack Congress in Parliament.&nbsp;In a speech in Lok Sabha, PM Modi had accused Congress of instigating migrant labourers to leave the cities in which they were working to go to their home states when the first Covid wave struck. PM Modi said that Congress had distributed free tickets to migrants in Maharashtra to relieve the Covid burden on the state.
