The initiative aims to promote the importance of Ranji Trophy and &lsquo;fostering the growth of red-ball cricket in MCA&rsquo;s jurisdiction&rsquo;, the governing body said.

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) on Saturday announced that it will top up BCCI's existing match fee in domestic cricket by equal amount for its senior team players from the upcoming 2024-25 season, president Amol Kale said on Saturday.
The initiative aims to promote the importance of Ranji Trophy and &lsquo;fostering the growth of red-ball cricket in MCA&rsquo;s jurisdiction&rsquo;, the governing body said.
The proposal to match the BCCI's domestic fee was put forth by MCA president Kale, which was unanimously accepted by state unit's apex council.
"MCA will be paying additional match fees per Ranji Trophy game to each player from next season onwards. We felt that the players should earn more, especially those who play Ranji Trophy cricket," Kale said.
"For us, red-ball cricket matters the most as Ranji Trophy holds a special place for everyone in Mumbai," he added.
The announcement comes a little over a week after Mumbai won India&rsquo;s premier domestic competition Ranji Trophy for a record-extending 42nd time.
Notably, the MCA had also matched BCCI&rsquo;s prize money of Rs 5 crore after Mumbai&rsquo;s win.
"By aligning with BCCI's fees and providing additional support, apex council aim to create a conducive environment for young cricketers to excel and hone their skills,&rdquo; MCA secretary Ajinkya Naik said.
The BCCI had revised the match-fee structure for First-Class cricket in 2021 to Rs 40,000 per day for 1-20 matches, Rs 50,000 for 21-40 matches and Rs 60,000 for 50 or more matches.
So a player, who gets Rs 2.40 lakh per Ranji match will now get Rs 4.80 lakh from next season.
While the move will boost the earning for the Mumbai players, it would especially benefit those such as Mumbai opener Bhupen Lalwani, who ply their trade in domestic circuit and do not have lucrative IPL contracts as yet.
Lalwani, who played 10 games and finished as Mumbai&rsquo;s highest run-scorer with 588 runs in the last Ranji Trophy season, would earn double the money compared to the 2023-24 season, in which he got Rs 17.20 lakh.

India U-19 World Cup star Musheer Khan came to Mumbai's rescue with his maiden first-class hundred as the hosts recovered from a precarious position to reach 248 for five on the opening day of their Ranji Trophy quarterfinal against Baroda, here Friday.
The 18-year-old Musheer, who was among the leading run-scorers in the recently-concluded U-19 World Cup in South Africa, was at the forefront of Mumbai's recovery, who were jolted multiple times after electing to bat here at the BKC Ground.
Musheer raised a well-calculated 128 not out off 216 balls, studded with 10 fours, while putting on two crucial partnerships to lead the recovery for Mumbai who were reeling at 99 for four at one stage.
Musheer, the younger brother of India batter Sarfaraz Khan, came into the playing eleven as a replacement for the injured all-rounder Shivam Dube.
Baroda veteran Bhargav Bhatt (4/82) struck thrice to jolt Mumbai early in the contest, accounting for Prithvi Shaw (33), Bhupen Lalwani (19) and Ajinkya Rahane, whose ordinary form with the bat persisted.
The swashbuckling Shaw appeared to be in his elements, cracking six boundaries to get 33 from 46 balls, but he was stumped by Baroda wicketkeeper Mitesh Patel off Bhatt's bowling in the 14th over.
Shaw seemed to have done his job, having given Mumbai a confident start, while putting on 57 runs for the first wicket with Bhupen Lalwani. But once they were separated, it all went south for the home side playing in favourable conditions.
Baroda did not have to wait long for further inroads as Mumbai's in-form opener Lalwani perished for just 19 from 41 balls with three fours, caught by Shivalik Sharma off Bhatt.
Rahane's ordinary run with the bat continued when the Mumbai captain was cleaned up by Bhatt for 3, whereas Ninad Rathva piled up further pressure on the 41-time champions by removing all-rounder Shams Mulani for 6.
Coming in to bat at No. 3, Musheer did well to stop the slide with a 43-run stand for the fifth wicket with Suryansh Shedge (20), followed by a splendid unbeaten 106-run stand for the sixth wicket with Hardik Tamore.
Mumbai wicketkeeper-batter Tamore dropped anchor to play the perfect second fiddle to Musheer, scoring an unbeaten 30 off 163 balls in their unbroken century stand.
"My job is far from done but I am very happy since it is my first (first-class) hundred. I will try to take the game as far as possible," Musheer told the media after the match.
"My mindset was to keep speaking with my partner and play for the remainder of the day. It was not an easy wicket and the idea was to go for the boundary balls or else keep working with the singles," he added.
Earlier in the day, the players observed a two-minute silence on the passing away of former Maharashtra chief minister and Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) president Manohar Joshi.
Mumbai players also took the field wearing black armbands in his memory.

Delhi descended into hall of infamy on Saturday as five of their top six batters got out for ducks, making the scoreboard at the PCA Stadium unsightly in a Ranji Trophy Group D match against Uttarakhand in Mohali.
Continuing their winter of woes, Delhi's second innings began in the worst possible manner as their first four batters were back in the dressing room without opening their account.
Skipper Himmat Singh, however, averted a bigger disaster for Delhi with a spectacular, counterattacking 109 and, in the company of Lakshay Thareja (36 batting), lifted the team to 145/5 after they had lost five wickets with just 11 runs on the board in their second dig.
Vaibhav Kandpal, slotted at number six in the Delhi batting line-up, too was dismissed for nought.
Playing the lone ranger, Himmat found the fence 16 times and cleared it once while getting his runs off just 91 balls.
The duo of Himmat and Thareja added 134 runs for the sixth wicket, helping Delhi avoid more embarrassment a day after the team's best batter Ayush Badoni, who is going through a rough patch, was asked to stay back in the team hotel at the behest of powerful officials, who wanted to teach the "IPL star" a lesson.
Doing the bulk of the damage for Uttarakhand was Deepak Dhapola (4/43), who bagged a hat-trick to leave Delhi tottering at zero for three.
Thanks to Himmat and Thareja's efforts, Delhi were ahead by 53 runs at stumps on the second day.

Resuming on their overnight score of 98 for four, Uttarakhand found their man in the seasoned Aditya Tare, who top-scored for the team with 83 off 114 balls while hitting 10 boundaries.
Tare found an able ally in Swapnil Singh, who chipped in with an useful 47 as Uttarakhand ended their first innings with a significant lead of 92 runs, opening up possibilities for an outright win with plenty of time left in the match.
Avneesh Sudha (64) could add just nine runs to his overnight score of 55 before being bowled by pacer Navdeep Saini, who was Delhi's most successful bowler on the day with figures of 4/57 in 15 overs, while off-spinner Hrithik Shokeen picked 3/57.

Hyderabad opener Tanmay Agarwal broke the world record for the fastest triple-hundred in the history of first-class cricket in a Ranji Trophy Plate Group match against Arunachal Pradesh in Hyderabad on Friday.
The 28-year-old reached the milestone off only 147 balls, beating the previous record of South African cricketer Marco Marais, who had achieved the feat in 191 balls during the game between Border and Western Province in 2017.
However, the lopsided contest against a north-eastern side once again raised questions about directly integrating them into Ranji Trophy where records are being broken at monotonic regularity.
The match, which was played on the outskirts of the city at 'Gen-Next' cricket ground and Hyderabad, witnessed a whopping 529 for 1 in just 48 overs with Tanmay's undefeated 323 off just 160 balls at the end of the day's play.
This was after Arunachal scored 172 in 39.1 overs.
The left-hander's innings was studded with 33 fours and 21 sixes. He added 449 for the opening stand with Rahul Singh, who smashed 185 in just 105 balls.
"I feel good and grateful. After I completed 150, I just started hitting and luck was in my favour. I always found middle of the bat and balls went out. I just kept batting and kept hitting," a composed Agarwal told PTI, his voice rarely giving away any emotions.
So when did he come to know about the world record? "After the end of the day's play... From teammates to my family, everyone is very happy," Agarwal, who already has 11 first-class tons before this record, added.
So what does he make of his triple hundred considering the quality of opposition? "When you compare with Elite teams, this kind of feat is not possible, but I didn't think about quality of opposition and kept playing the way I had to.
"The world record just happened. Nothing was planned. There were no plans that I would do this and that. It just happened," said Agarwal, who has played all his cricket for Hyderabad.
The highest Indian first-class score is 443 by BB Nimbalkar, who hit it in a Ranji Trophy match between Maharashtra and Kathiawar.
The world record for highest individual first-class score is 501 not out by the legendary Brian Lara for Warwickshire in an English county game against Durham.
Is he looking at both the records? "No, I am not because I don't know how much longer we will be batting on Saturday. As long as I bat tomorrow, I will try to play like I started the innings today. If it happens, it happens. I don't have in mind that I have to achieve this or that," Agarwal sounded nonchalant.
Agarwal said he does not have one specific coach.
"I have had a lot of coaches over the years not one coach." Divyanshu Yadav (0/117 in 9 overs) and Techi Doria (0/101 in 9 overs) are two bowlers, who conceded more than hundred runs in less than 10 overs.

On Friday two teams claimed to be the Ranji Trophy squad of Bihar, turned up for the match against Mumbai. The confusion subsequently led to a delayed start to the game after heated exchanges and a scuffle between the officials of the Bihar Cricket Association, which required intervention from the local police. The match eventually began around 1 pm.
Of the two teams that reached the ground early in the morning, the one picked by the BCA president c played the game. The other that had the blessings of Secretary Amit Kumar was left high and dry.
BCA later released a statement on Friday blaming suspended secretary Amit for the chaos, which included picking a fake team and attacking an official of the board. &ldquo;There was a life-threatening attack on BCA&rsquo;s OSD Manoj Kumar by those involved in the fake team. The miscreants have been identified and action will be taken against them,&rdquo; the statement read.
Talking about the match, put to bat first, Mumbai finished the opening day with 235 for nine, where three batters - opener Bhupen Lalwani, Suved Parkar and Tanush Kotian - scored their respective fifties. Veer Pratap Singh was the pick of the bowlers for Bihar with his 4 for 32 while Sakibul Gani and Himanshu Singh picked two apiece. Historically, Alimuddin holds the record as the youngest debutant in a recorded first-class match in India. He made his entry into first-class cricket in the 1942-43 season at only 12 years and 73 days old, playing for Rajputana against Baroda. Apart from Alimuddin, SK Bose and Mohammad Ramzan also debuted at an age younger than Suryavanshi.
In the 2023 Cooch Behar Trophy, Suryavanshi showcased his exceptional talent while playing for Bihar. Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, whose place in the Test squad against Australia was subject to fitness, made a fantastic comeback to competitive cricket with a 7-wicket haul in the Ranji Trophy.
Jadeja achieved the feat in the game against Tamil Nadu. Opening the bowling on a spin-friendly track, the left-arm spinner finished with 7/53 as Tamil Nadu were bowled out for 133 in the second innings.
With the 34-year-old giving a good account of his fitness in the match, he will most likely be part of the Indian XI in the first Test that starts on February 9.

Returning to competitive cricket after almost a 5-month period due to a knee injury, Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has returned to training for his Saurashtra Ranji team and tested his knee in an extended session for the 34-year-old on Monday.

Returning to competitive cricket after almost a 5-month gap due to a knee injury, Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja returned to training for his Ranji team Saurashtra.
He tested his knee in an extended session for the on Monday. Jadeja said that his priority was to be 100% match fit ahead of India's crucial test series against Australia.
"I am feeling good to be back on the field. Very excited. Hopefully it will come good as a team and as an individual also," Jadeja said
The all-rounder will be a part of Team India's preparatory camp in Nagpur starting February 2 ahead of the Australia Test series.

On Day 1 of Mumbai's Ranji game against Assam, Shaw slammed a double ton and registered his career-best first-class score.
