The Indo-Australian duo of Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden marched onto their second Masters 1000 title as a team on Saturday.&nbsp; Bopanna-Ebden defeated Ivan Dodig and Austin Krajicek 6-7(3), 6-3, 10-6 to complete their career Sunshine Double at the Miami Open.&nbsp; With this win, the pair consolidate their number 1 spot on the ATP Men's Doubles Teams Ranking.&nbsp; Last year Bopanna became the oldest Masters 1000 champion after their Indian Wells triumph. With the Miami title, 44-year-old Bopanna rewrote his own record.&nbsp; This is the Indian's 6th Masters 1000 title of his career. He also has two Grand Slams to his name.&nbsp;

The men's doubles duo of India's Rohan Bopanna and Australia's Matthew Edben stormed into the final of the ongoing Miami Open tennis tournament on Thursday. The duo of Bopanna and Edben sealed a solid win over Spain's Marcel Granollers and his Argentine partner Horacio Zeballos by 6-1 and 6-4. Bopanna and Ebden dominated the game from the very first moment. In the first set, the Indo-Aussie duo clinched a 6-1 win. In the second set, the opponents tried to make a comeback but Bopanna and his teammate kept their nerves cool and sealed a 6-4 win. "Grand entry in the #MiamiOpen final! The legend and #TOPSchemeAthlete Bopanna and his Australian doubles partner Ebden enter their third final of the season beating Spain's M. Granollers &amp; Argentina's H. Zeballos 6-1 6-4. Recapping the quarterfinal match of the Bopanna-Edben, in the first set for the India-Aussie duo was nothing short of a horror show, as numerous unforced errors put them on a backfoot and they lost it. But the experience and chemistry of this duo were evident in how they put the first-set loss aside to secure the next two sets. They beat Australia's John Patrick-Smith and his Netherlands' partner Sem Verbeek in the QFs by 3-6, 7-6(4), 10-7.

The victory for the 44-year-old Bopanna, currently ranked No. 2 in the world, will help him stay in the in top-10 in the ATP doubles ranking.

Indian tennis stalwart Rohan Bopanna and his Australian teammate Matthew Ebden advanced to their third men's doubles semi-final this year, defeating Dutchman Sem Verbeek and Aussie John-Patrick Smith at the Miami Open in Miami.
The duo, who had won the Australian Open earlier this year, overcame several unforced errors in the first set to win the gruelling quarterfinal 3-6 7-6 (4) 10-7.
The victory for the 44-year-old Bopanna, currently ranked No. 2 in the world, will help him stay in the in top-10 in the ATP doubles ranking and ensure direct qualification for the Paris Olympics in July-August.
The cut-off date for rankings to be considered for direct Paris qualification is June 10.
The Bopanna-Ebden pair, seeded No.1 here, didn't enjoy a dominant first and second-serve percentage but came up with breaks at crucial junctures in the second set to take the match into the tie-breaker before winning it and drawing level.
Bopanna, who won his maiden grand slam at the Australian Open this year, had attained a career-high world No. 1 ranking following the success but has slipped to second spot after a quarterfinal loss at the Dubai Championships and a round-of-32 exit at the Indian Wells Masters.
The Indo-Australian pair will meet the winners of the match between Marcel Granollers (Spain)/Horacio Zeballos (Argentina) and Lloyd Glasspool (UK)/Jean-Julien Rojer (Netherlands) in the last-four.
Bopanna and Ebden had also reached the semifinal of the Adelaide Open in January this year and made the title round before losing to Rajeev Ram (USA) and Joe Salisbury (UK).
The American-British duo, though, will not meet the Indio-Australian pair in the semifinals in Miami after they lost in the quarterfinals.&nbsp;

However, India's challenge in men's singles ended after the country's top player Sumit Nagal exited in the round of 32.

The Australian Open was won by India's history-making Rohan Bopanna and his partner Matthew Ebden in Melbourne on Saturday, making him the oldest number one in men's doubles history.
At the Rod Laver Arena, the second seeds defeated the unseeded Italian duo of Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori 7-6 (7/0), 7-5. It was Bopanna's first men's doubles triumph and their first as a team, setting a record for the most attempts before a victory. Bopanna became the oldest man to win a Grand Slam title with the triumph.
"A couple of years ago I said in a video message, I am going to call it a day because I was not winning matches. I went five months without winning a match. I thought that was the end of my journey but my perseverance, and something inside me kept me going," Bopanna said after his triumph as quoted by PTI.
As soon as the ATP rankings are published on Monday, Bopanna will undoubtedly take the top spot. He'll be the oldest player at the top of the rankings, standing at 43.
Bopanna acknowledged the contribution of his Australian partner Ebden and his American coach Scott Davidoff in his success story.
"It was not possible if I had not this fantastic Aussie partner by my side, so thanks to Matty. We had a fantastic season last year and for me to win my first men's Grand Slam men's doubles Grand Slam here at the Asia-Pacific is special.

It was such hard-fought battle at the Rod Laver arena that the contest featured only one break of serve when Vavassori dropped his serve at love in game 11 of the second set. There were not many break points on offer either.
The second seeds had breakpoints in successive games in the beginning of the contest. However, the Italians saved both to stay on even terms.
In game two, off Bolelli's serve, Vavassori hit a volley at 30-30 but Bopanna hit a return long.
In game four, the Italians were again down a break point when at 30-30, a return from Bopanna jumped off the net chord to give the second seeds a free point. However, Vavassori served well to save that point as well.
Serving 4-5, and 30-all, Bolelli was under pressure again but pulled off a powerful cross court forehand which was away from Bopanna's reach and then served huge to make it 5-all.
Ebden's serve came under pressure in game 11 in which he faced a breakpoint, but, after playing deuce points, the Australian closed the game with an ace.
In the tie-breaker, Bolelli's serve was broken twice as the second seeds zoomed to a 5-0 lead without losing a point on their serve.
Vavassori too lost his serve to hand their rivals six set points. They converted the first, Ebden finding a forehand winner down the line.
Bopanna will be crowned the new number one on Monday when the ATP rankings will be updated. At 43, he will be the oldest player to be perched on top of the ranking pile.
Bolelli had won the Australian Open men's doubles in 2015 with partner Fabio Fognini.

"It (the feat) means a lot not to just me but to Indian tennis also. You need something to inspire the next generation. Sumit (Nagal) also had a great Australian Open. He won a round," Bopanna told PTI in an exclusive interview from Melbourne.
And the star player said the feat came with a lot of sacrifices.
"Extremely proud of this (world no.1 ranking in men's doubles). It's a special moment. A lot of sacrifices have gone into this. My coaches, family everyone. My family is travelling with me, so different feeling," he said.
In fact, he is more happy that for the past week, Indian tennis has been in the news.
"Nothing at all was happening in Indian tennis. You (journalists) also did not have much to write about, so this has happened at the right time." Earlier, Rajeev Ram of the USA was the oldest player to be ranked world no. 1 when he achieved the top ranking in October 2022 at the age of 38 for the first time in his career.
Ebden, on the other hand, is set to reach the world no 2 spot.
Bopanna twice reached the US Open final but never won a men's doubles major.
He, however, has a mixed doubles trophy at the French Open when he and his partner Gabriela Dabrowski of Canada won the crown at the 2017 French Open, defeating Anna-Lena Gr&ouml;nefeld and Robert Farah in the final 2&ndash;6 6&ndash;2 12&ndash;10.
But Bopanna's desire to win a men's doubles title at the Slam still remains unfulfilled, something which we wants to achieve before hanging up his racquet.
"That's a personal goal (winning men's doubles title at a Grand Slam). It's no one else's goal," he said.
For the veteran, it is always one step at a time.
"When you reach the second round, next you want is the third round then the fourth, quarters, semi-final. So, yes I have been in two Slam final and now want to win but it's a natural. You always try to go one better," Bopanna said about his future goal.
Bopanna, who had achieved the highest of world No. 3 for the first time in 2013, is the fourth Indian after Leander Paes, Mahesh Bhupathi and Sania Mirza to take the world number one rank in doubles.
He also didn't forget to acknowledge the contribution of his long-time coach Scott David of the USA in his breathtaking journey in the game.
"I am probably fifty world number one of coach Scott David. It's a proud moment for him also. I switched to doubles in 2010 and since then I have been with him only," Bopanna said.
Bopanna and Ebden have been one of the most consistent pairs on the tour over the last 12 months. The duo reached the final of US Open 2023, their best result so far in Grand Slams.
En route the semifinals here, the second seeded Bopanna and Ebden, had to over come two close contests in the first and third rounds to book their place in the semifinals.
Their first hurdle came in the opening round against wildcards James Duckworth and Marc Polmans of Australia, whom Bopanna and Ebden defeated 6-7(5) 6-4 6-7(2).
Their next steep challenge came in the third round where they overcame 14th seeds Wesley Koolhof of the Netherlands and Croatian Nikola Mektić 7-6(8) 7-6(4).
And Bopanna attributed the ability to finish close matches to his experience on the circuit.
"Experience is a great factor in getting those wins. Ever since, I started focussing only on doubles in 2010, it has taken me 13-14 years to reach this. I have been a journeyman," said Bopanna, who will take over the top position from USA's Austin Krajicek, who and his Croatian partner Ivan Dodig lost in the second round.
The Indo-Australian pair will play unseeded Tomas Machac of Czech Republic and Chinese Zhizhen Zhang in the semi-finals.
His former Davis Cup teammates Mahesh Bhupathi and Somdev Devvarman termed it as one of the greatest stories in Indian sport.
"Rohan Bopanna getting to World Number 1 today after 20 years on tour in my opinion is one of the greatest stories in Indian Sport!!!," Bhupathi wrote on 'X'.
"Bops first told me he was contemplating retirement 5 years ago, then 4 years ago, then 3 years ago...Moral of the story is.... Who cares... He's number 1! Couldn't be happier for the Bopanna family! rohanbopanna is the best story in indian sport," Devvarman wrote. (With PTI and AP inputs)

Bopanna, who was forced to pull out of the Davis Cup and few other events due to a knee injury last year, was ranked 19th at the start of the season.
His career-best ranking is world number 3 which he achieved in 2016. This season he has competed in 13 tournaments so far.
Bopanna became the oldest player to win ATP Masters 1000 torunament when he and his Australian partner Matthew Ebden emerged champions at Indian Wells Masters in March.
Bopanna and Ebden also won the Qatar Open in February and reached the Madrid Open final in May.
In singles, Sumit Nagal was placed at world No. 256 as the top-ranked Indian men's singles player in ATP Rankings, while Asian Games bronze medallist Ankita Raina was the best India women's singles player at world No. 212.
She is also India&rsquo;s highest-ranked player in women&rsquo;s doubles at world No. 149
