India's Covid-19 tally nears 60 lakh, over 88,000 new cases in 24 hrs

A single-day spike of 88,600 new Covid-19 cases and 1,124 deaths were reported in India, in the last 24 hours, pushing the overall tally to nearly 60 lakh. The case tally stands at 59,92,533 which includes over 9.5 lakh active cases, 49 lakh recoveries and over 94,000 deaths. The ICMR has said 71 million samples were tested up to September 26, of these, 9 lakh were tested on Saturday alone. India has reported higher number of new recoveries than new cases for several consecutive days. 24 States/UTs recorded more recoveries than positive cases.

NCB summons Deepika, Sara, Shraddha & Rakul in drug case

The Narcotics Control Bureau on Wednesday issued summons to Bollywood&nbsp;actor&nbsp;Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Shradhha Kapoor and Rakul Preet Singh in a drug case.
Reports are the actresses have been issued summons after their names&nbsp;reportedly emerged in various drug-related chats.
NCB&nbsp;also summoned Deepika&nbsp;Padukone's&nbsp;manager Karishma Prakash for questioning.
The NCB&nbsp;who is probing the alleged Bollywood-drug nexus summoned have also interrogated&nbsp;co-founder of KWAN,&nbsp;producer&nbsp;Madhu&nbsp;Mantena, COO of Kwan.&nbsp;

The Narcotics Control Bureau on Wednesday issued summons to Bollywood&nbsp;actor&nbsp;Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Shradhha Kapoor and Rakul Preet Singh in a drug case.&nbsp;Deepika Padukone has been summoned on September 25 while Shraddha Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan have been summoned on September 26.
Following Sushant Singh Rajput&rsquo;s untimely death and the consequent questioning of his girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty in the drug angle probe, the NCB has learnt of wider drugs nexus in Bollywood.&nbsp;
NCB had also summoned Deepika&rsquo;s manager, Karishma Prakash and the CEO of the Kwan talent management agency Dhruv Chitgopekar&nbsp;after drug chats surfaced.

According to India&rsquo;s envoy to the UN Ambassador T S Tirumurti, the PM&rsquo;s speech will be "truly significant" as it comes ahead of India taking a seat at the powerful UN Security Council as an elected non-permanent member for a two-year term beginning January 1, 2021.
