A tiger entered the Atkona village in Kalinagar from the Pilibhit district on Monday night. As the tiger entered the village, it sat on a wall and refused to move from there. Later, the forest officers tranquilised the tiger and rescued it.&nbsp;
Videos of the tiger also went viral in which the majestic animal was seen sleeping on the wall and the area around the animal was barricaded using ents so that no one could come to the animal.&nbsp;
The villagers reported that the tiger had been sleeping on the wall since last night he didn't move from the place even after it woke up. In the dark, light was also flashed at it but that didn't make the tiger move from the wall.&nbsp;
As per reports, no one was attacked by the animal. But, the villagers are angry with the forest department and they alleged that it is due to their negligence that the tiger could get into the village.&nbsp;

Prime Minister Narendra Modi went on a "safari" at the Bandipur Tiger Reserve in Karnataka on Sunday, as part of programmes to mark 50 years of "Project Tiger ''.
The Tiger Reserve is located partly in Gundlupet taluk of Chamarajanagar district and partly in H.D.Kote and Nanjangud taluks of Mysuru District.

According to the state forest department, the National Park was formed by including most of the forest areas of the then Venugopala Wildlife Park established under the government notification dated February 19, 1941 and the area was enlarged in 1985 extending over an area of 874.20 Sq.Km and named as Bandipur National Park.
This reserve was brought under 'Project Tiger' in 1973. Subsequently, some adjacent reserve forest areas were added to the reserve extending to 880.02 Sq. Km. The present area under the control of Bandipur Tiger Reserve is 912.04 Sq. Km.
An area of 39.80 sq km of KFDC (Karnataka Forest Development Corporation) plantation area was handed over to this division during 2007-08. During 2010-11, the Nugu Wildlife Sanctuary was handed over to the Wildlife Division, Mysuru, the department said.
Located amidst the picturesque surroundings of the towering Western Ghats on the Mysuru-Ooty highway in Karnataka, it is an important part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve that constitutes Karnataka&rsquo;s Rajiv Gandhi National Park (Nagarahole) to its Northwest, Tamil Nadu&rsquo;s Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary to its South, and Kerala&rsquo;s Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary to its Southwest.
Once the private hunting grounds of the erstwhile Maharajas, and nestled in the foothills of the Nilgiris, Bandipur has had a long tryst with tigers. One of the thirty reserves identified across the country to save the Tiger and its habitat, it&rsquo;s also one of the last refuges of the endangered Asiatic wild elephant, according to the state Tourism department.
Apart from the two famed residents (tigers and elephants), a number of other endangered species such as sloth bears, gaurs, Indian rock pythons, jackals, muggers, and four-horned antelopes can be spotted in this national park.
Over 200 species of birds and a diversity of flora add to its attraction. Bandipur also supports a wide range of timber trees including teak, rosewood, sandalwood, Indian-laurel, Indian Kino tree, giant clumping bamboo.&nbsp;

Facing the challenge of retaining the status of India&rsquo;s &ldquo;tiger state&rdquo;, Madhya Pradesh lost 34 big cats in 2022 as compared to just 15 in Karnataka, its nearest competitor in housing the number of tigers in the country, according to official data.
The deaths were reported in the survey year for the country's tiger census, whose results will be announced later in 2023.
A senior forest department official said it is a &ldquo;mystery&rdquo; as to why Madhya Pradesh has recorded higher tiger deaths than the southern state though both had almost the same number of big cats as per the 2018 count.
Karnataka, home to 524 tigers as per the 2018 census, is competing with Madhya Pradesh (526) for the tag of India&rsquo;s &lsquo;tiger state&rsquo;.
The national tiger census is conducted once in every four years. The latest All India Tiger Estimation (AITE) was conducted in 2022 and its report is scheduled to be released this year, a forest department official said.
As the country eagerly awaits findings of the quadrennial count to know which state stands where in terms of tiger population, data on how many big cats India lost in the year just gone by is now available.
Madhya Pradesh lost 34 tigers in 2022, while its nearest rival for the &ldquo;tiger state&rdquo; status, Karnataka recorded the death of 15 big cats, according to data uploaded on the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) website.

The causes of these deaths were not mentioned.
The NTCA is a statutory body under the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change constituted under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, for strengthening tiger conservation.
Total tiger deaths in India in the previous year stood at 117, as per the NTCA website.
&ldquo;We (MP) have the maximum number of tigers and we take into account all the carcasses found in our state. It is a mystery for us why lesser tiger deaths were reported there (Karnataka) when the number of big cats is almost the same,&rdquo; Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Wildlife) J S Chauhan told PTI when asked about the wide gap in mortality figures in the two states.
He said the average age of tigers is 12 to 18 years.
If longevity criteria are taken into account, then about 40 deaths annually should be considered natural as the state had recorded the presence of 526 tigers in the last estimation conducted in 2018, he said.
In 2021, Madhya Pradesh lost 42 tigers out of 127 fatalities recorded in the country that year.

Authorities at the Van Vihar National Park here have started an investigation after Bollywood actor Raveena Tandon shared a video and claimed that some miscreants were throwing stones at a tiger enclosure.
The park is located on the banks of Bhopal's Upper Lake.
&ldquo;Van Vihar, Bhopal. Madhya Pradesh. Tourists (ruffians) pelting stones at the tiger in closures. Having a good laugh when told not to do so. Screaming, laughing, shaking the cage- throwing rocks. No security for the tiger. humiliation they are subjected to,&rdquo; Tandon tweeted on Monday.
In reply, the park management said it was already investigating the incident. Such acts are punishable under the Wildlife Protection Act, it added.
In another tweet, the park management said, &ldquo;Van Vihar National Park follows Zero Tolerance policy against any kind of action which can lead to physical harm to animals. We urge the public to refrain from indulging any such Activities which are punishable under Wildlife Protection Act.&rdquo; The park's director Padma Priya Balakrishnan told PTI that the video shared by Tandon did not show anyone actually throwing stones, but someone is heard shouting from behind &ldquo;why are you throwing stones?&rdquo; "Two men seen in the video were misbehaving, shouting and ringing the bell (of a bicycle). We have put up their pictures at the park's gates and banned their entry," she added.
A case has been registered against them and further action will be taken after they are identified, the official said.
&ldquo;Besides, we are also seeking an explanation from our staff for their carelessness in keeping a watch," Balakrishnan said, adding that CCTV cameras are being installed across the park to prevent such incidents.

The Maharashtra forest department on Thursday tranquilised and captured 'conflict tiger' CT-1 after it had killed 13 persons in Gadchiroli and Chandrapur districts in the state's Vidarbha region, an official said.
The tiger was moving in Wadsa forest range here in Gadchiroli and was becoming a threat to human lives, he added.
"The tiger had killed six persons in Wadsa, four in Bhandara and three in Brahmapuri forest range in Chandrapur district. The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Nagpur had, in a meeting on October 4, directed that conflict tiger CT-1 be captured," he said.
"Accordingly, the Tadoba Tiger Rescue team, the Rapid Response Teams of Chandrapur, Navegaon-Nagzira and other units worked on war-footing to capture the tiger. It was tranquilised and captured from Wadsa forest range on Thursday morning," he informed.
It has been sent to Gorewada rescue centre in Nagpur, some 183 kilometres from here, for rehabilitation, the official added.

Indian police have shot dead a tiger dubbed the "Man-eater of Champaran" that killed at least nine people, in a major operation involving 200 people including trackers on elephants, officials said Sunday.
The big cat had terrorised locals on the fringes of the Valmiki Tiger Reserve in Champaran in eastern India, killing at least six people in the past month including a woman and her eight-year-old son on Saturday.
Even before the two latest kills, authorities had designated the tiger, reportedly a male three or four years old, as a "man-eater", meaning that it could be shot.
Earlier attempts to tranquillize the animal had failed.
"Two teams went into the forest on two elephants on Saturday afternoon and the third one waited where we thought the tiger would exit -- and we fired five rounds to kill it there," local police chief Kiran Kumar told AFP.
With local villagers beating tin containers, it took about six hours for the team -- with eight shooters and about 200 forest department officials -- to complete the operation, Kumar said.
Officials said that large sugarcane fields made it easier for the tiger to stay hidden and attack local villagers and their livestock.
The victims included a 12-year-old girl dragged from her bed on Wednesday night, reports said.
Locals in the impoverished villages around the reserve in Bihar state stopped moving out in the evening after the tiger's first attack maimed a teenager in May.
But "despite the lurking fear of tiger, it was not possible for us to confine ourselves in our homes as we needed to feed our cattle," Ram Kisun Yadav, a local villager told the Hindustan Times newspaper.
Conservationists blame the rapid expansion of human settlements around forests and key wildlife corridors for animals like elephants and tigers for an increase in man-animal conflict in parts of India.
Nearly 225 people were killed in tiger attacks between 2014 and 2019 in India, according to government figures.
More than 200 tigers were killed by poachers or electrocution between 2012 and 2018, the data showed.
India is home to around 70 percent of the world's tigers and the tiger population was estimated at 2,967 in 2018.

They are in stable conditions.
"We were informed that the tiger is roaming out (outside the tiger reserve) and people were coming to see the tiger. But the woman wasn't aware of the tiger. Both of them were injured in the attack and admitted to a government hospital. Later, they were shifted to Jabalpur Medical College. Currently, both the mother and child are fine," Lavit Bharti, manager, Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve told news agency ANI.  
The one-and-a-half years old boy was attacked by the tiger when his mother was taking care of their farm. The woman shielded her child and kept facing every attack by the tiger. It may be noted that the woman had no weapon to save herself from the tiger.

Bhola Chowdhary, the husband of the injured woman, said she had taken the child to the farm when the tiger attacked her. "She didn't have any idea about the tiger being outside. She took the child to the farm where the tiger was hiding. It attacked her and she was severely injured," he said.

Body camera footage released by authorities showed a man screaming in pain and pleading for help just before a sheriff's deputy shot a Malayan tiger that had grabbed the man's arm at a Florida zoo.
The Collier County Sheriff's Office said the man was seriously injured Wednesday evening when he entered an unauthorized area near the tiger's enclosure at Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens. The 8-year-old tiger named Eko later died.
The man worked for a third-party cleaning service contracted to clean restrooms and the gift shop, the sheriff's office and the zoo said. He was hospitalized and his condition was not available on Friday.
The body camera video released Thursday by the sheriff's office appeared to show the tiger's jaw wrapped around the man's arm between his hand and elbow .
“Please, please help me, please,” the man screamed during a nearly 9-minute call with a sheriff's office dispatcher. The dispatcher is heard mistaking the man's screams for a woman and calling him m'am during the call.
The man could be seen on video bracing his body against the enclosure with his leg in the air and his shoulder in the dirt.
A zoo statement said that after the facility had closed Wednesady to the public, 26-year-old River Rosenquist jumped a public barrier fence into an unauthorized area in front of the tiger habitat.
“It is believed that he was trying to feed or pet the tiger through the enclosure fence to the point where the tiger was able to reach him and pull his arm into the enclosure,” the statement said, adding a deputy rushed to the scene.
“After the deputy initially tried to get the tiger to release the arm, he was left with no option but to shoot the animal to save the young man's life. The tiger was confirmed dead by Naples Zoo's veterinarian,” the statement added.
According to the sheriff's office, the tiger had retreated back into its enclosure after being shot.

A zoo statement said that after the facility had closed Wednesady to the public, 26-year-old River Rosenquist jumped a public barrier fence into an unauthorized area in front of the tiger habitat.

&ldquo;It is believed that he was trying to feed or pet the tiger through the enclosure fence to the point where the tiger was able to reach him and pull his arm into the enclosure,&rdquo; the statement said, adding a deputy rushed to the scene.
&ldquo;After the deputy initially tried to get the tiger to release the arm, he was left with no option but to shoot the animal to save the young man's life. The tiger was confirmed dead by Naples Zoo's veterinarian,&rdquo; the statement added.
According to the sheriff's office, the tiger had retreated back into its enclosure after being shot.

Observed on 29th July every year, International Tiger Day was first created in November 2010 during the Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit in Russia. The day aims at creating awareness about the diminishing population of tigers and the ways of conserving them the world over. The thirteen tiger range countries resolved to help recover and double up the numbers of tigers by 2022, the next tiger lunar year.&nbsp;
According to the World Wildlife Fund, there are around just 3900 tigers in the wild. One of the major reasons behind the decline in the tiger population is poaching and hunting activities. WWF also highlighted that due to the pandemic and the consequent collapse of eco-tourism, a lot of communities that depend on tiger tourism have lost their livelihood. This economic setback led to an increase in poaching activities and a decline in conservation activities. Even the act of forest encroachment by humans has put the lives of these endangered species at risk.
Even though several steps have been taken to help protect and conserve&nbsp;the tigers, there is&nbsp;still a long way to go. Now more than ever is the need to prioritise tiger conservation activities before we lose them all.&nbsp;
