The Delhi High Court has rejected real estate baron Sushil Ansal&rsquo;s plea seeking a stay on the Netflix web show &lsquo;Trial By Fire&rsquo;

A major relief for the makers &lsquo;Trail By Fire&rsquo;. The Delhi High Court has rejected real estate baron Sushil Ansal&rsquo;s plea seeking a stay on the Netflix web show, which is based on 1997 Uphaar Cinema tragedy.
Ansal is one of the accused in the tragedy that led to the death of 59 people in 1997. The series stars Abhay Deol and Rajshri Deshpande.
In his plea, Sushil had sought a permanent and mandatory injunction restraining the production company and others from releasing the film.
His lawyer, senior advocate Siddharth Aggarwal submitted that Sushil was held guilty under Section 304A of IPC (causing death by negligence), and not murder. He added that the series labels him as a 'murderer', and that the &lsquo;book is grossly defamatory and wilfully false&rsquo;. Sushil also sought restraint of further publication and circulation of the book, published by Penguin Random House Ltd.
The web show is based on the book &lsquo;Trial By Fire: The Tragic Tale of the Uphaar Fire Tragedy&rsquo; that was written by Neelam Krishnamoorthy and Shekhar Krishnamoorthy.
Justice Yashwant Varma rejected Sushil Ansal&rsquo;s plea, saying that the book was published in 2016 and he never sought action against it for so many years. The court also noted that it had no time to view the web series and granting injunctive reliefs before it is viewed would be inappropriate, according to a Live Law report.

Netflix recently released the trailer of the latest series ‘Trial by Fire’ which is based on the story of one of the worst fire tragedies in the history of the country, the Uphaar Fire Tragedy.

‘Trial By Fire’ also stars Rajesh Tailang, Ashish Vidyarthi, Anupam Kher, Ratna Pathak, Shilpa Shukla and Shardul Bharadwaj, and will stream on Netflix from January 13.

Streaming giant Netflix has released the trailer of its latest series, &lsquo;Trial by Fire&rsquo;, based on the Uphaar Cinema fire. The trailer highlights how the the blaze that killed 59 people and left over 100 injured changed the lives of some families and their 25-year-long battle for justice.

Taking to Instagram, Abhay shared the trailer and wrote, &lsquo;The trailer is here! 13 June, 1997 altered the lives of hundreds of families. #TrialByFire traces the story of parents, Neelam and Shekhar Krishnamoorthy, who alongside other families have fought for justice. Catch their story in #TrialByFire, releasing January 13 only on @netflix_in.&rsquo;
The series is directed by Prashant Nair and produced by Endemol Shine India and House of Talkies. &nbsp;&lsquo;Trial by Fire&rsquo; also features Rajesh Tailang, Ashish Vidyarthi, Anupam Kherr, Ratna Pathak, Shilpa Shukla and Shardul Bharadwaj.
Based on the book &lsquo;Trial by Fire: The Tragic Tale of the Uphaar Fire Tragedy&rsquo; written by Shekhar and Neelam Krishnamoorthy, the series is all set to stream on Netflix from January 13.
The Uphaar Cinema fire tragedy took place in Delhi's Green Park on June 13, 1997 during the matinee show of the film &lsquo;Border&rsquo;.&nbsp;
