The route is already served by several trains like the Chhattisgarh Express, Amritsar-Mumbai Frontier, Shan-e-Punjab, Garib Rath, Dadar Express, and the Delhi-Pathankot Express via Amritsar, enhancing connectivity between these major cities. According to media reports, the Vande Bharat train running between Katra and Delhi will operate regularly from January 1st. On its route, it will make stops at Udhampur, Manwal, Jammu Tawi, Kathua, Pathankot Cantt, Mukerian, Dasuya, Ludhiana, and Karnal. Meanwhile, the train from New Delhi to Amritsar will halt at Ambala, Ludhiana, and Jalandhar.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;

Windowpane of an executive class coach of the Rourkela-Bhubaneswar Vande Bharat Express was damaged due to stone pelting in Odisha on November 26.
The incident was reported by the on-duty RPF Escorting Staff after which local police were also been informed.
No one was hurt in the incident. In a statement, the railways said that police are trying to trace the culprits and strict action will be taken against them.
This is not the first time such an incident has occurred. Similar incidents have been reported in the past in which the premium train was vandalised.

The Railway Ministry shared pictures of the blue and tangerine Vande Bharat trains, both of which were photographed at Vellayil Station in Thiruvananthapuram- Kasaragod section of Kerala.

The driver applied emergency brakes to stop the train just in time. The incident occurred around 9.55 a.m. near Chittorgarh district on October 2.
A video has surfaced showing railway staff removing the stones from the tracks.
The railway police force and the district police are conducting an investigation into what appears to be a 'deliberate act of sabotage'.

As per the officials, the ticketless passenger boarded the train from Tirupati and locked himself in the toilet, where he started smoking.

An unauthorised passenger's smoking activity inside a toilet on Tirupati&ndash;Secunderabad Vande Bharat Express triggered a false fire alarm, smoke-like extinguisher and halted the train for some time on Wednesday evening, a railway official said.
The incident happened in coach C &ndash; 13 on Train No. 20702 after passing Gudur, said the official.
"An unauthorised passenger boarded the train from Tirupati and locked himself in the toilet of C-13 coach... The passenger smoked inside the toilet which resulted in automatic activation of aerosol fire extinguisher present inside the toilet," an official from South Central Railway (SCR) Zone's Vijayawada Division said in a press release.
Following the false alarm, the aerosol fire extinguisher started emitting powder-like smoke to douse the flame and in that process, the passengers in that coach panicked.
Later, they relayed the information to the train's guard through an emergency phone connection inside the coach, leading to the train getting halted at Manubolu around 5 pm.
Mistaking the false alarm to be a fire accident, the Railway police rushed to the coach with a fire extinguisher and broke the toilet's window to save the passenger who was smoking inside it.
Railway police detained him at Nellore for appropriate action as per the Railway Act, the official added while the train resumed its journey later.

A group of people pelted stones at the Vande Bharat Express near Ayodhya on Tuesday, cracking its windowpanes as they vented their anger days after the train mowed down a herd of goats, police said. Three men have been arrested in this regard, they said.
"The windowpanes of two coaches of the Vande Bharat Express were partially damaged as it passed through Sohawal area of Raunahi police station area here around 9 am on Tuesday," Inspector of Railway Protection Force (RPF) Sonu Kumar Singh said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the train connecting Gorakhpur and Lucknow on July 7.
Singh said the information about the incident was passed to the Ayodhya Cantt RPF post. The train, however, continued its onward journey till Lucknow, he said.
Speaking about the incident, SSP (Ayodhya) R K Nayyar noted, "It was found during investigation that on Sunday, a herd of goats belonging to one Nanhu Paswan were killed after being hit by the Vande Bharat train while they were grazing on the railway track. So, Paswan and his associates targeted the train." "We have arrested Paswan and his sons Ajay and Vijay in this connection,"&nbsp;

&nbsp;A BJP MP in Bihar on Tuesday ended up thanking "Prime Minister Nitish Kumar" for the Vande Bharat train between Patna and Ranchi.
Sushil Kumar Singh, who is serving his third Lok Sabha term from Aurangabad, had come to Gaya where the semi-high-speed train has a stop.
Singh, whose parliamentary constituency covers a part of Gaya district, told reporters: "I thank Prime Minister Nitish Kumar for this precious gift to people of south Bihar".
In a video clip that has now gone viral, Singh can be seen standing beside Prem Prakash Chintu, the Gaya district chief of the BJP, who embarrassedly points out the faux pas to the MP.
Singh takes a few seconds to correct himself and repeat his statement with Prime Minister Narendra Modi&rsquo;s name.
Singh joined the BJP in 2014, ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, a year after Nitish Kumar first broke up with the saffron party.

There will be three versions of Vande Bharat trains by February-March next year, Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Thursday.

These indigenous semi-high-speed trains are being prepped to replace Shatabdis, Rajdhanis and local trains.&nbsp;

There will be three versions of Vande Bharat trains -- Vande Chair Car, Vande Metro and Vande Sleepers -- by February-March next year, Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Thursday.
These indigenous semi-high speed trains, which are being prepped to replace Shatabdis, Rajdhanis and local trains, are being made at the Integrated Coach Factory in Chennai.
In an interview with PTI, the minister said in the next three to four years, railway tracks will be upgraded to support the maximum speed of 160 kmph of Vande Bharat trains.
"There are three formats of Vande Bharat. Vande Metro for less than 100 kilometres, Vande Chair Car for 100-550 kilometres and Vande Sleepers for a journey beyond 550 kilometres. These three formats will be ready by February-March (next year)," Vaishnaw said after the launch of a Vande Bharat train from Uttarakhand's Dehradun to the Anand Vihar Terminal Railway Station in Delhi.
The Delhi-Dehradun Vande Bharat Express was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Equipped with state-of-the-art amenities for passengers, the first such train for Uttarakhand reduces the journey time between state capital Dehradun and the national capital to four and a half hours from the six hours and 10 minutes it took the Dehradun-New Delhi Railway Station Shatabdi Express.
Vaishnaw said the rail connectivity project between Rishikesh and Karnaprayag will be completed in two years and the railways is also working to connect villages located in border areas.
The minister said almost every state will get a Vande Bharat train by mid-June. The production of these trains is being expedited, he said.
"Every eighth or ninth day, a new train is coming out of the factory. Work is going to start at two more factories. We will have a new train coming out of these factories once their supply chain gets stabilised," Vaishnaw said.
Vande Bharat trains are designed with a top speed of 160 kmph but they will run at a speed of up to 130 kmph according to track capacity.
"Old tracks were designed to support speeds between 70 and 80 kmph. Around 25,000-35,000 kilometres of tracks are being upgraded to support speeds of 110 kmph, 130 kmph and 160 kmph. It will be done in the next three to four years," Vaishnaw said.
By 2027-28, 20,000-30,000 kilometres of track will be capable of running Vande Bharat trains at a speed of 160 kmph, he said and added that railway overhead power lines are also being upgraded to support high speed trains.
Vaishnaw said the railway is working on fencing along tracks to check cattle runover by trains.
"Very unique design has been developed for fencing. The height is about five feet and it has two horizontal barriers. It has been installed on a stretch of about 250 kilometres between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, and there has been zero-cattle casualty since the time it has been installed. We are working on all the factors for high-speed trains," he said.
The minister said the budget for the railways has been increased from Rs 1 lakh crore to Rs 2.4 lakh crore at present. "It is going up based on the capacity of the railways to do projects. We have to scale up the capacity of the railways to execute projects," Vaishnaw said.
The minister said the railways are expeditiously working on rail connectivity projects for border areas. Steps are also being taken to provide 4G-5G services to train passengers, Vaishnaw said.
The minister said 4G-5G towers are getting expeditiously installed by the railways. At many places, they have been installed and work is going on continuously, he said.

"It is the fastest train between the two cities with a travel time of 5 hours and 50 minutes, saving more than an hour of journey time," an official release said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday flagged off two Vande Bharat trains from Mumbai to Shirdi and Solapur.
At an event at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in south Mumbai, Modi first flagged off the CSMT-Solapur Vande Bharat Express and later another semi-high-speed train linking the financial capital to Sainagar Shirdi temple town in Ahmednagar district.
The Mumbai-Solapur Vande Bharat Express will cover the 455 km distance between Mumbai and the textile city in 6 hours and 30 minutes, a saving of nearly one hour in current timings.
The Mumbai-Sainagar Shirdi Vande Bharat Express will take 5 hours and 25 minutes to cover the 343 km distance to the temple town.
The one-way fare without catering service on the CSMT-Solapur Vande Bharat train will be Rs 1,000 for chair car and Rs 2,015 for executive chair car, while the fares for the two classes with catering will be Rs 1,300 and Rs 2,365 respectively, a CR official said.
The one-way journey ticket without catering service for CSMT to Sainagar Shirdi will be Rs 840 and Rs 1670 for chair car and executive chair car respectively, while the ticket prices with catering service will be Rs 975 and Rs 1840 respectively.
This is Modi's second visit to the city in less than a month. On January 19, the PM inaugurated and laid foundation stones for infrastructure and healthcare projects worth more than Rs 38,000 crore in Mumbai.
His visit assumes significance in view of the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation polls.&nbsp;

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee earlier said that legal action will be taken against those who spread "fake news" that the incident took place in this state.

The newly-launched Vande Bharat Express train in West Bengal faced a second stone-pelting attack in two days.
Rocks were thrown at a Vande Bharat train in north Bengal on 3 January 2023, and two window panes in two coaches were damaged. A day earlier, the train was attacked in Malda, and the glass pane on a coach door suffered major cracks due to the impact of the stones.

The Vande Bharat Express between Howrah and New Jalpaiguri was inaugurated on 30 December 2022 by PM Narendra Modi. Commercial operations began on 1 January 2023.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday claimed that the Vande Bharat Express was pelted with stones in neighbouring Bihar, and not her state.
She said legal action will be taken against those media outlets that spread "fake news" that the incident took place in West Bengal, bringing a bad name to the state.
"Vande Bharat was pelted with stones in Bihar and not in West Bengal. We will take legal action against those media outlets that telecast fake news that the incident took place in West Bengal and brought a bad name to our state," Banerjee told reporters before leaving Sagar Island.
"Vande Bharat is nothing special. It is just an old train refurbished with a new engine," Banerjee, a former Railway minister herself, said.
The Vande Bharat Express was on Tuesday pelted with stones for the second consecutive day. It was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 30.
Railway authorities on Thursday claimed they have identified those who threw stones at the train.
Eastern Railways CPRO Ekalabya Chakraborty told PTI that after scanning video footage, it was found that Monday's stone-pelting incident on Vande Bharat Express took place in Malda district and Tuesday's happened in Kishanganj district of Bihar, and efforts are underway to nab the perpetrators.
The first incident caused a glass door to crack, while the second damaged windows. No injuries to passengers, however, were reported in the incidents.
"After scanning the footage, it was found that the first incident took place in Malda district of West Bengal and the second in Kishanganj district of Bihar. Further scanning of available footage is underway to pinpoint the exact location and identify the perpetrators," he said.
FIRs have been lodged in both cases and an awareness campaign started to prevent a recurrence of such incidents, the official said.

The saffron party stuck to its demand for a probe by National Investigation Agency (NIA).
"Probe is not yet over. We stick to our demand for an NIA probe to bring out the truth. We believe the stone-pelting incidents were a fallout of an incident that took place during the inauguration of the train in Howrah station last week," BJP state spokesperson Samik Bhattacharya said.
BJP workers had raised 'Jai Shree Ram' slogans at the inauguration ceremony, following which Banerjee refused to get on the dais from where the train was flagged off.
TMC had criticised the raising of a "political slogan" at a government function, while BJP leaders had tried to downplay the incident.&nbsp;

The incident occurred near Samsi Kumarganj of Kathia Division of the Indian Railways. Though the impact of stones caused crack in the wind sheild on the door of the train, passengers did not suffer any injury.
