Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) President Sanjay Singh has announced that there will be no trials for wrestlers who have already secured the Olympic quota for the Paris Games. Speaking to news agency ANI, Singh confirmed, "All the members of the selection committee were present, and it was decided that whoever got the quota would go for the Paris Olympics."
This announcement has significant implications for the wrestlers who have secured Olympic quotas. Vinesh Phogat, who had aspirations to compete in the 53kg category, will now have to participate in the 50kg category as per the quota secured. Consequently, Antim Panghal will represent India in the 53kg category.
In a notable development, Olympic silver medallist Ravi Dahiya will not be part of the Indian contingent for the Paris Games. This is because Aman Sehrawat secured the quota in the 57kg category, making him the sole Indian male wrestler to earn an Olympic quota thus far for Paris 2024.

A total of eight candidates were in the fray for the seven positions and after polling, conducted on ballot paper, seven members got elected. They then chose Narsingh as chairman of the commission.

A total of eight candidates were in the fray for the seven positions and after polling, conducted on ballot paper, seven members got elected. They then chose Narsingh as chairman of the commission.
Ahead of the 2016 Olympics, the Games-bound Narsingh had grabbed headlines when two-time Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar, who missed the qualification event due to an injury, requested for a trial bout against him.
Sushil moved the Delhi High Court and only after his appeal was rejected, it was confirmed that Narsingh would go to the Rio Olympics.
However, in a shocking turn of events, Narshingh failed two dope tests prior to the Games and was banned for four years by the Court of Arbitration for Sport even though the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) had cleared him on the plea that his failed test was the result of sabotage.
The CAS decision came a day before his opening bout, forcing him to leave Rio de Janeiro without competing. The ban came to an end in July 2020 and he has maintained that the entire episode was a case of sabotage.
The other elected members of the Athletes Commission were Sahil (Delhi), Smitha AS (Kerala), Bharti Bhaghei (UP), Khushboo S Pawar (Gujarat), Nikki (Haryana), and Sweta Dubey (Bengal).
United World Wrestling (UWW), the international body for the sport, while lifting the suspension of WFI had stated that the move was subject to the Sanjay Singh-led national federation constituting an athletes' commission to resolve the grievances of the grapplers.
Six top wrestlers, including Olympic Games medallists Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik and Asian Games gold-medallist Vinesh Phogat, sat on a protracted protest at the Jantar Mantar here last year demanding the arrest of then WFI president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, accusing him of sexually harassing women wrestlers.
The sports ministry had then suspended the WFI and instituted an IOA ad-hoc committee to manage the day-to-day functioning of the federation.
UWW too placed the WFI under provisional suspension on August 23 after the Indian body failed to hold fresh elections in due course.
But after the elections were held in December and Sanjay Singh, a close aide of Brij Bhushan was elected president, he wrote to UWW to lift the suspension.
The UWW Bureau met on February 9 and revoked the ban, with the pre-condition that the WFI has to constitute its athletes' commission before July 1, 2024.
It had mandated that the commission should have active or retired athletes for no longer than four years.
The WFI had also immediately provided UWW with a written guarantee that all the wrestlers, including those who protested at Jantar Mantar, would be considered for participation in competitions, in particular the trials for the Olympic Games and any other major national and international event.
Narsingh, an Arjuna awardee and Asian Championships gold medallist in 2010, competed at the 2012 London Olympic Games and lost the opening bout in the 74kg category.

Delhi High Court asks for Sports Ministry's response to WFI's challenge against suspension

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday sought the Centre's response to a plea by the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) challenging its suspension.

Justice Subramonium Prasad issued notice to the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and asked it to file its reply to the petition within four weeks.
The high court listed the matter for further hearing on May 28.
The Centre had suspended WFI on December 24, 2023, three days after it elected new office bearers, for allegedly not following the provisions of its own constitution while taking decisions.
Senior advocate Dayan Krishnan, representing WFI, submitted that no show cause notice was issued to the federation before taking the decision to indefinitely suspend it.
He said the ministry&rsquo;s decision violates the constitutional provisions of WFI as well as the National Sports Code which contemplates issuance of show cause notice before such action and added that this was against the principles of natural justice.
While suspending the WFI, the government had cited its "hasty announcement" of organising the U-15 and U-20 nationals "without following due procedure and not giving sufficient notice to wrestlers" for preparations.
The ministry felt the new WFI body was working under the complete control of its former office-bearers, which was not in conformity with the National Sports Code.
The union sports ministry had suspended the Wrestling Federation of India in December 2023. Sanjay Singh, a close associate of multiple-term BJP Lok Sabha MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who got embroiled in a sexual harassment case following a complaint by women wrestlers, had succeeded him to the post.
A coordinate bench of the high court is scheduled to hear on Wednesday a plea by four wrestlers including Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist Bajrang Punia seeking directions to the ministry to not revoke WFI&rsquo;s suspension and appoint a one-man committee to take over the federation&rsquo;s management and administration.

The Indian Olympic Association on Monday dissolved the ad-hoc committee for wrestling, saying "there is no further need" for it to continue after the revocation of the suspension on the national federation, which now gets complete administrative control of the sport.
The IOA said that the decision was also guided by the successful conduct of the selection trials for next month's Olympic qualifying tournament for which the panel collaborated with the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI).
The ad-hoc committee was formed in December last year after the sports ministry suspended the WFI, which got a shot in the arm when the suspension imposed on it by the global governing body -- United World Wrestling -- was lifted in February.
"The decision to dissolve the Adhoc Committee comes in light of the lifting of the ban on the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) by the United World Wrestling (UWW) and the successful completion of Selection Trials by the Adhoc Committee appointed by the IOA as per the directives of the Hon'ble High Court of Delhi," said the IOA order issued on March 10.
WFI chief Sanjay Singh thanked the Indian Olympic Association for giving his elected panel control of the national federation.
"We thank IOA for giving us full-fledged control of the WFI. We will give all the facilities to the wrestlers. We will soon organise a national camp and if the wrestlers want to train abroad we will facilitate that as well. The focus is now on the Olympics. We are hoping that 5-6 wrestlers will qualify," Singh told PTI.
The three-member committee, under the chairmanship of Bhupender Singh Bajwa, was constituted on December 23 after the newly-elected WFI, led by Sanjay Singh, had allegedly flouted its own rules.
Earlier this month, the ad-hoc panel organised the trials to select the teams for the Asian Championships and the Asian Olympic Qualifiers in Kyrgyzstan to be held next month.
The protesting duo of Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia competed in the trials and the former cut Olympic qualifiers in the 50kg category.
Following the successful completion of the trials, the reins of the sport have now been formally handed over to WFI despite the continuing suspension imposed by the sports ministry.
The IOA instructed WFI to appoint a "Safeguarding Committee" to address concerns of sexual harassment and other issues such as adherence to rules.
"...as instructed by the UWW, it is imperative that the WFI appoint a Safeguarding Committee / Officer at the earliest to address the concerns of abuse and harassment and to ensure adherence to all rules, regulations, and guidelines set forth by the UWW and other relevant authorities," the IOA letter added.
"Furthermore, the WFI is also directed to conduct the elections of the Athletes Commission in a time-bound manner, in accordance with the established procedures and guidelines.
"This step is essential to promote athlete representation and participation in the decision-making processes of the WFI." The order also instructed the WFI to "repay the loan" provided by the IOA to the ad-hoc panel for managing wrestling affairs when the national body was under suspension.
"The day I won elections, you know that it was a crown of thorns for me. Despite limitations, we tried everything, whether it was organising the Nationals (in Pune), or providing officials and referees to the ad-hoc panel for the recent trials after (the Delhi High Court) court stopped us from organising trials (in New Delhi). I am sure that it is the end of the struggle for us," added Sanjay Singh.
A source close to the developments said he was "surprised" by the IOA's move to dissolve the ad-hoc panel.
"The Sports Ministry had suspended the WFI in December last year and it hasn't yet issued orders for revoking the suspension. Besides, the case is sub-judice, so it's surprising why ad-hoc panel was dissolved by the IOA," he said.&nbsp;

The Delhi High Court on Monday sought responses of the Centre and the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) on a petition filed by wrestlers Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik and her husband Satyawart Kadian for declaring as illegal the December 2023 elections held by the sports body and setting it aside.
Justice Sachin Datta issued notice to the Central government, WFI and Ad-Hoc Committee of WFI on the petition.
The court granted time to the central government's standing counsel Anil Soni to get instructions in the matter and listed the plea for further hearing on March 7.
The wrestlers, represented through senior advocate Rahul Mehra, were at the forefront of last year's protest at Jantar Mantar here demanding the arrest of former WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh for alleged sexual harassment of seven women grapplers.

The plea contended that the WFI elections, held on December 21, 2023, were in blatant violation of Sports Code and sought a direction to the federation to "cease and desist" from undertaking any activity pertaining to the sport of wrestling.
Sanjay Kumar Singh, a close associate of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, was elected as the new president of the WFI during the election.
"The petitioner prays the court may be pleased to set aside and declare elections held by R2/WFI on December 21, 2023 as illegal and void ab-initio since the same has been held in blatant violation of the sports code," the petition said.
The petitioners have accused the WFI of several wrongdoing.
"The present writ petition is being filed by the petitioners inter alia assailing, challenging, and seeking directions against the illegal action of the suspended Wrestling Federation of India conducting selection trials for the Senior Asian Wrestling Championships 2024 and Asian Olympic Games Qualifier Wrestling Tournament notified through its circular dated February 26, 2024 against the directives of the ad-hoc Committee for Wrestling Federation of India," the petition said.
"The petitioners would like to place on record that apart from them, there are many other athletes/wrestlers who are also facing similar harassment owing to their upright/honest stand against respondent no. 2/WFI and its officials over the illegalities by respondent no.2 in collusion and under instructions of respondent no. 2's/WFI former President and member of Parliament from Kaiserganj constituency namely Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
The petitioners have accused the WFI of trying to silence and sideline them, impacting their prospects of participating in international events.
"Every possible means have been deployed by respondent no. 2/WFI to muffle the voices of the protesting petitioners and deprive them from any future scope of participation at the international level irrespective of their merit and competence," it added.
The petitioners have sought a direction to the ad-hoc committee to continue taking care of the day-to-day affairs and management of the WFI or, in the alternative, appoint a retired Supreme Court judge as an administrator to take over the affairs and management of the body.

The Ad-hoc Committee, managing the wrestling affairs in the country on Saturday announced that it will organise the National U15 and U20 Championships in Gwalior from February 11-17.
"The event is scheduled to take place at the prestigious Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education on Racecourse Road, LNUPE Campus, Shakti Nagar, Gwalior. Around 1200 Wrestlers &amp; 300 Officials will take part in the competitions," panel head Bhupender Singh Bajwa said in a press release.
A power struggle is on in Indian wrestling with both ad-hoc panel and suspended Wrestling Federation of India announcing separate National Championships.
WFI had announced to host 2023 age group Nationals in Gonda, UP in the last week of December but the Sports Ministry suspended the Federation on December 24, three days after it held much-delayed elections.
The WFI has also announced that will host Senior Nationals in Pune from January 29 while the ad-hoc panel said it will organise them in Japiur from February 2-5.

The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) has chosen a path of reconciliation with the Sports Ministry, aiming to reverse its suspension through dialogue rather than legal confrontation. This decision emerged from the WFI's Executive Council meeting, presided over by President Sanjay Singh and attended by 12 other elected members. Notably, Secretary General Prem Chand Lochab and Senior Vice President Devender Kadian were absent from the meeting.
Initially inclined to seek judicial intervention, the WFI has now opted for a more conciliatory approach. "We do not want a clash with the government. We are not moving court as of today. We will seek time from the ministry and a delegation will try and speak with the government," Sanjay Singh explained to PTI post-meeting.
Singh expressed a desire to understand the prerequisites for lifting the suspension, similar to the conditions set by UWW when it suspended the federation. The WFI is also committed to holding the Nationals in Pune, as per its constitution, despite the ad-hoc panel's plans to organize a separate event in Jaipur.
25 state associations have reportedly backed the WFI's Nationals in Pune, expressing this in communications to the ministry and UWW. Wrestlers selected through state trials have already secured travel arrangements for Pune, where the WFI's Nationals are scheduled from January 29-31. Meanwhile, the ad-hoc panel intends to hold senior Nationals from February 3 in Jaipur and age group championships in Gwalior.

The WFI has reminded United World Wrestling that as per the international body's rules and the IOC charter, the Indian Olympic Association "cannot exercise any control" on the newly-elected body, and asked the UWW to immediately lift the provisional suspension it imposed in August last year.
The newly-elected Wrestling Federation of India chief Sanjay Singh, whose body was suspended by the sports ministry three days after it came to power and an IOA ad-hoc panel was re-instituted to run the sport, in his letter to UWW president Nenad Lalovic has also said that any influence by the IOA in wrestling should be deemed "illegal" by UWW.
"Pursuant to the election, the newly-elected body has taken charge of the WFI and is managing its affairs, and we await the lifting of the provisional suspension imposed by the UWW," said Sanjay Singh in his letter to Lalovic on Friday, a copy of which is with PTI.
"We understand that we continue to be an affiliated member of the UWW. However, there is a provisional suspension imposed by the UWW which was to be vacated after holding of the elections of the WFI as mentioned in your letter dated 23rd August 2023." Sanjay, who won the polls on December 21 by a huge margin, also drew UWW's attention to a Delhi High Court order which prohibits IOA's interference in the affairs of the National Sports Federations.
"We would also like to draw your attention to a judgment of the High Court of Delhi against the IOA which was passed on l6th August 2023, which stated that the IOA cannot exercise any control of authority over a National Sports Federation. Any influence by the IOA would be illegal, NSF's are independent entities." Sanjay, a close associate of former WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, also pointed out that when the Indian courts, the UWW rules and the Olympic charter all profess autonomy of NSF's how could the IOA breach those rules.
"As can be seen whether it's the Courts in India, the UWW rules or the Olympic Charter, all three mandate the autonomy of the NSF's and the IOA even otherwise cannot be any controlling factor to accept or reject an election of a NSF which would be as per its own constitution.
"Hence, we request you to accept the elections of the WFI as has been done in the past many decades by the UWW and lift the provisional suspension of the WFI. The IOA also does not and cannot approve any election of any other NSF in India as well. It would not be fair to put the WFI as an exception for something that is not even legally correct," he added.
He said the elections were held in a free and fair manner under the directives of the Supreme Court and the IOA was notified at every step.
"All this (elections) was done transparently and the IOA was well aware of the entire process as the same was being done from the office of the IOA only. All successful candidates were also issued due certificates of election by the Returning Officer," he said.
Sanjay also pointed out that the ministry had issued a letter confirming the successful completion of the poll process.
"The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports issued a letter just after 3 days of the election and confirming that the elections were held on 21.12.2023, in which Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh has been elected as President and Shri Prem Chand Lochab as Secretary General and other office-bearers. The copy of this letter is also attached herewith for your perusal," wrote the WFI chief.

The wrestling federation crisis in India deepended further on January 01 when the suspended national body refused to recognise the Indian Olympic Association-constituted ad-hoc panel.&nbsp; On the same day, the Bhupender Bajwa-led panel announced the commencement of senior men's and women's national camps from February 09.&nbsp; The national camps begin four days after the national championships conclude.&nbsp; But, Sanjay Singh, the newly elected WFI president told news agency PTI, 'We got elected democratically. The Returning Officer had signed the papers, how do they ignore that. We do not recognise this ad-hoc panel.'&nbsp; He added that the wrestling federation does not recognise Sports Ministry's suspension either and vowed to conduct national championships.&nbsp; 'How will they (ad-hoc panel) organise Nationals if our state associations will not send the teams. We will organise our National Championship soon. We are soon calling the Executive Committee meeting. The notice of the EC meeting will be sent in a day or two and we will have the Nationals organised before they do it,' Singh said.&nbsp; If the WFI goes on to organise its own Nationals the crisis will take a turn for the worst. The ad-hoc panel has already announced dates for the national championships from February 02-05.&nbsp;

The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) on Friday moved its office out of the residence of its former president and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, after the sports ministry had recently raised serious objections to it.
"The WFI will operate from a new address in New Delhi after vacating Brij Bhushan's premises," a source told PTI on condition of anonymity.
The new WFI office is located in the Hari Nagar area of New Delhi.
The ministry, while suspending the newly-formed WFI panel under president Sanjay Singh on December 24, three days after he was elected its head, had cited the office running from Brij Bhushan's residence as one of the reasons for taking the stringent action.
"The business of the federation is being run from the premises controlled by former office bearers (Brij Bhushan) -- which is also the alleged premises wherein sexual harassment of the players have been alleged and present(ly) the court is hearing the matter," the ministry had said in its letter.
The ministry also said the new body was working under the "complete control of former (WFI) office-bearers", which was not in conformity with the National Sports Code.
Several top wrestlers, including Olympic medallists Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik and World Championship medallist Vinesh Phogat have levelled allegations of sexual harassment against Brij Bhushan and the case is being heard in the Delhi High Court.
After Sanjay Singh, a close aide of Brij Bhushan, was elected WFI chief on December 21, Sakshi decided to retire from wrestling, while Bajrang returned his Padma Shri and Vinesh decided to give her Khel Ratna and Arjuna Award back, alleging they did not want any close associate of the BJP MP to run the federation.
The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has once again instituted a three-member ad-hoc committee under the chairmanship of Wushu Association of India chief Bhupender Singh Bajwa to run the affairs of the sport.

The newly-elected body of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) on Thursday cancelled all the decisions taken by the Bhupender Singh Bajwa-led ad-hoc panel, that had recently changed the Olympic selection criteria and announced hosting of senior National Championship in Jaipur.

The new Secretary General Prem Chand Lochab and Senior Vice-President Devender Singh Kadian did not attend the meeting. Both are from the Anita Sheoran panel that could win only two of the 15 posts.
"The ad-hoc panel had announced that senior nationals will be held in Jaipur in January but this decision has been cancelled. All the decisions taken by the ad-hoc panel have been cancelled," a WFI source told PTI.
"The Olympic selection trial criteria which was announced by the ad-hoc panel does not stand. We will host the U15 and junior Nationals in Gonda from December 28 to 30," added the source.
The first General Body Meeting (GBM) of the newly-elected federation will be held either on January 11 or 12, 2024, in New Delhi.
The Bajwa-chaired ad-hoc body had announced that the Olympic quotas won by the wrestlers will not belong to individuals but to the country and the quota-winning wrestler will also have to undergo selection trials to book his or her place in the national team for the 2024 Paris Games.
The ad-hoc committee under Bajwa came into existence on May 4 earlier this year, and it was formed by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to look after the crisis-ridden WFI.

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) on Friday requested the UWW to "keep in abeyance" the WFI suspension, insisting that it was making efforts to resume the election process.
The United World Wrestling (UWW) had suspended the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) for not holding its election on time.
The letter was signed by IOA President PT Usha, Secretary General Kalyan Chaubey and ad-hoc panel chief Bhupender Singh Bajwa.
The IOA gave the details how it made efforts to hold the elections on time but multiple court cases arising out of disputes in the rivals factions of several state bodies had led to the delay.
IOA said its endeavour now is to get the stay on the elections vacated.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court had stayed the August 12 elections on a petition by disaffiliated Haryana Wrestling Association, a day before the polls.
"All our efforts are being made to vacate the stay and resume the election process. In view of the above, the IOA requests that provisional suspension be held in abeyance," the letter read.
"The IOA also requests for an early meeting to discuss the way ahead," it added.
UWW's decision to suspend WFI on Thursday for not conducting elections will result in Indian grapplers not being allowed to compete at the upcoming World Championships under the Indian flag.
The World Championships will commence in Belgrade on September 16.
The Indian wrestlers will have to compete as 'neutral athletes' at the Olympic-qualifying World Championships as the IOA-constituted ad-hoc panel, led by Bhupender Singh Bajwa, could not honour the 45-day deadline for conducting the elections as the matter is sub-judice.
The IOA had appointed the ad-hoc panel on April 27 and the ad-hoc committee was supposed to hold elections within 45 days. UWW had on April 28 warned that it could suspend the Indian federation if the deadline to hold elections is not honoured.&nbsp;

Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and his son Karan are not part of the electoral college for the upcoming Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) elections but the list surprisingly includes members who are not associated with the existing state bodies.
According to the WFI Constitution, only members of the state executive can be part of the electoral college for the elections.
"The affiliate unit shall nominate only the executive members of their Unit to represent in the elections," reads the WFI Constitution.
Anita Sheoran, who is one of the witnesses in the sexual harassment case against Singh, has been named in the list as Odisha representative for the August 12 polls.
The 38-year-old Sheoran, the 2010 CWG gold medallist, hails from Haryana and is employed with the state police.
Similarly, Prem Chand Lochab's name figures as a representative from Gujarat when he is actually the secretary of Railways Sports Promotion Board (RSPB).
Also, Assam has been given voting rights following the ad-hoc panel's surprise decision to grant membership to the state.
"How can an ad-hoc panel grant membership to a state. It's a decision that is taken by the General Council. It's difficult to understand how this decision has been taken," said a WFI source.
"This is a clear violation of WFI Constitution that people who are not part of the state bodies have been nominated and approved in the electoral college list," added the source.
Sports minister Anurag Thakur had promised to the protesting wrestlers led by Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia that none from Brij Bhushan's family will contest the elections.
While Singh, who is the UP president and his son Karan, who is vice president in the same state body, have not entered, the outgoing chief's son-in-law Vishal Singh will be a representative from Bihar in the polls.
Maharashtra and Tripura will not have any representatives at the elections as the Returning officer deemed claims of both factions from the former "ineligible" while Tripura has remained disaffiliated since 2016.
Two representatives from each state unit will be allowed to vote.
Singh, a Member of Parliament from Uttar Pradesh's Kaisergunj, is facing multiple charges of sexual harassment and is currently on bail.
He is not eligible to contest as he has already completed 12 years as an office-bearer, which is the maximum term allowed as per the National Sports Code.
Accordingly UP's state unit will be represented by Prem Kumar Mishra and Sanjay Singh.

Initially scheduled for July 6, the elections faced delays and were later rescheduled for July 11 after disaffiliated state bodies from Maharashtra, Haryana, Telangana, Rajasthan, and Himachal Pradesh sought a hearing, contesting their dismissal.
Although the panel heard the grievances of the state bodies, the polls could not proceed on July 11 as the Gauhati High Court stayed the elections after the Assam Wrestling Association (AWA) demanded the right to participate.
However, the Supreme Court intervened, staying the Gauhati High Court order and clearing the way for elections on August 12.
The electoral college will comprise 48 members with voting rights from 24 state bodies, and nominations for posts will be filed on August 1. The scrutiny of nominations will take place on August 7, and a final list of candidates will be published on the same day. If required, the voting process will occur on August 12.
The Sports Ministry previously ordered the suspension of all WFI activities and appointed an oversight committee to investigate allegations of sexual harassment by former WFI President, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who has been granted bail in the case.
As per Sports Code guidelines, Brij Bhushan, having served 12 years as president, is ineligible to contest the elections. Whether his son Karan, who heads the UP Wrestling Association, will participate in the elections, remains to be seen.

The issue of five disputed state bodies is still being discussed. Unless that issue resolved, a final list of electoral college can't be prepared. But in all likelihood, the elections will be held on August 7,' said a source privy to the developments. The Assam association had claimed that it was entitled to be an affiliated member of the WFI with voting rights but it was denied recognition by the national federation despite its Executive Committee recommending the same on November 15, 2014.

Both Brij Bhushan and his co-accused Vinod Tomar have been directed to appear before the court on July 18.

The Rouse Avenue court in Delhi has issued summons to former WFI President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and co-accused Vinod Tomar in the sexual harassment case against the duo.
The court summoned the former WFI administrators after taking cognisance of the chargesheet filed by the Delhi Police. Both Brij Bhushan, a BJP MP, and former WFI assistant secretary Tomar, were accused by a number of wrestlers of sexual harassment.
They have been directed to appear before the court on July 18.

The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) elections, delayed several times, were stalled yet again with the Gauhati High Court on Sunday staying the July 11 polls on a petition filed by the Assam Wrestling Association.
The Assam Wrestling Association, in its petition filed against the WFI, IOA ad-hoc panel and the Sports Ministry, said though it was entitled to be an affiliated member of the WFI, it was not granted recognition.
The state unit claimed that the then WFI Executive Committee had made recommendation for its affiliation at the Federations' General Council in Gonda, on November 15, 2014 but it was denied recognition.
The IOA ad-hoc panel had fixed June 25 as the last date for receiving the names for the electoral college while the elections were fixed for July 11.
The petitioner contended that unless their body is affiliated to the WFI, and they can nominate their representative to the electoral college, the election process should be stalled.
The court directed the respondents -- WFI ad-hoc body and the Sports Ministry -- that till the next date is fixed for hearing they should not proceed with the elections of the Executive Committee of the WFI.
The court has fixed July 17 as the next date for hearing.
"Really? So were they sleeping when WFI held elections in 2015 and 2019. Why have they approached the Court now. Can't you guys smell that something is fishy here. Someone is trying to influence the WFI elections. It's clear," said an official from the previous WFI set-up.
"Actually, Assam was only an associate member without voting rights. If it had a problem with that, why they did not make an effort to reach out to the court in 2015 itself," the official added.
Assam Wrestling Association (AWA) said in its petition that they were "actively involved" in promoting wrestling in the state and had organised various national and state-level tournaments at the "behest" of the WFI.
The state association said in its plea that despite "several efforts" it did not get recognition.
AWA said that unless they don't get affiliation from the parent body, they would not be able to nominate their representative to the electoral college for the upcoming elections.
The state of Assam will be deprived of its representative to take part in the election of the executive committee of the WFI and its wrestlers will be deprived of participation in national tournaments, the petition said.
The WFI, before being suspended by the Sports Ministry, had set May 7 as the election date. Sports Minister Anurag Thakur, after his meeting with protesting wrestlers, had said that WFI elections will be held by June 30.
The IOA then announced that elections will be held on July 4 but the Returning Officer set July 6 as the new date.
However, after five disaffiliated state bodies staked claim to be eligible for voting, the Returning Officer yet again delayed the elections by five days, setting July 11 as the poll date.

The WFI elections will be held for the post of President, Senior Vice-president, Four vice-presidents, Secretary-general, Treasurer, two Joint Secretaries, and five Executive Members.

The Wrestling Federation of India's much-awaited elections will take place on July 6, the returning officer announced in a notification issued on Tuesday.
The announcement comes a day after the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) appointed retired high court judge Mahesh Mittal Kumar as the returning officer to set the poll process in motion.
It was also notified that the results of the elections will also be announced on the same day.
The last date for receiving two nominations from each state and union territory for constituting the electoral college has been fixed as June 19 and the scrutiny will be completed by June 22.

<li>Each state unit can send two representatives and each representative shall have one vote. So, the electoral college for the WFI elections will consist of 50 votes. But a few state bodies, dissolved by the WFI in the past, have also staked their claim to participate in the elections.</li>

The returning office after going through the credentials of the representatives of the factions will decide who can vote and who cannot.
The submission of nominations for elections will commence on June 23 and conclude on June 25, which will be followed by the preparation and display of the nominations, while the scrutiny of the nomination papers will take place on June 28.
The candidates will be able to withdraw their nominations between June 28 and July 1, following which the final list of contesting candidates will be put up on July 2.
In his notification issued on Tuesday, the returning office wrote, "The last date of receiving two nominations from each State/UT for constituting the electoral college has been fixed as 5.00 p.m of 19th June 2023, all the recognised Wrestling Federations of the states/UTs under the ratified constitution of the W.F.I and the guidelines of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Govt. of India are hereby called upon to nominate two (2) persons each of the respective associations who are the members of the executive body of such State/UT Units, for the purpose of constituting the electoral college for the ensuing general election to elect members of the Executing Committee."
"The nominations must be sent... under the signature and seal of the respective Federations by the President and the General Secretary, but not later than 5.00 p.m. of the 19.6.2023." The WFI elections will be held for the post of president, senior vice-president, four vice-presidents, secretary-general, treasurer, two joint secretaries, and five executive members.
It was widely speculated that the elections would take place on July 4 after the IOA appointed Mittal, the former Jammu and Kashmir High Court Chief Justice, as the returning officer on Monday.
The main task before the retired judge would be to decide which rival faction within the state bodies will participate in the polls, as two different state bodies in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, and Karnataka have reportedly sent names for inclusion in the voters' list for the elections.
WFI had dissolved Karnataka, Haryana and Maharashtra at its Executive Committee meeting in June 2022 for various reasons, including "corruption and mismanagement".

Facing sexual harassment charges, former wrestling federation chief and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Singh Sharan has announced that he will contest the 2024 Lok Sabha election once again from his seat in Uttar Pradesh.
He was speaking at a rally in Gonda district to mark nine years of the Modi govt.&nbsp;
The rally was organised under BJP's Mahasampark Abhiyan for the 2024 elections.
The rally was a show of strength by Singh, who had to earlier postpone a Jan Chetna Maharally rally in Ayodhya on June 5.
Earlier, Brij Bhushan held a roadshow from his house to the rally venue with hundreds of cars forming the convoy. The rally had the presence of people from all six Lok Sabha constituencies in the region where Singh wields influence.
