Heatwave across Europe: Rivers dry in Italy, France bans outdoor events

Heatwave is sweeping across Europe with temperatures rising the most since the start if the centry for some. From France, UK, Spain to Italy heat alerts and measures are being imposed to restrict 'exposure and impact.'

Temperatures in France have mounted all week and passed 37 degrees prompting the Macron govt to now banning all outdoor events like concerts and public gatherings in parts of France. Deja vu of the deadly heat wave in 2003 that killed about 15,000 people is making the French government take drastic steps early such as shutting schools early as well.

But France is not alone as it faces record breaking temperatures. In the UK, temperatures are expected to reach 33C in southern England, while a level three heat-health alert has been issued for London.

In Spain, which has just experienced its hottest May since the beginning of the century, temperatures are forecast to hit highs of 43 degress and forest fires are already starting to flare up.

And across in Italy viral images of it's largest river, the Po, 'disappearing' is making the nation face serious drought conditions. Water is so low in large stretches that locals can walk through the middle of the expanse of sand and wartime shipwrecks are resurfacing.
