Here's how world leaders reacted to news of Iranian president Ebrahim Raisi's helicopter crash

World leaders expressed their concern after news emerged that a helicopter carrying Iranian Ebrahim Raisi president and his foreign minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian crashed as it flew over Iran's mountainous terrain on Sunday.

PM Modi said India stands in solidarity with the Iranian people.

"Deeply concerned by reports regarding President Raisi’s helicopter flight today. We stand in solidarity with the Iranian people in this hour of distress, and pray for well-being of the President and his entourage."

Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei asked the people to pray for the health of the people involved in the crash.

We hope that God will return the president to the arms of the nation,” he said.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed sympathy and said that he is following developments regarding the incident.

"I convey my best wishes to our neighbour, friend and brother Iranian people and government, and I hope to receive good news from Mr Raisi and his delegation as soon as possible," Erdogan said in a post on social media platform X.

Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority said in a statement that Iran had requested a night vision search-and-rescue helicopter from Turkey.

Russia said it is ready to extend all necessary help in the search for the missing helicopter.

"Russia is ready to extend all necessary help in the search for the missing helicopter and the investigation of the reasons for the incident," foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a comment carried by Russia's RIA news agency.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif took to his official X handle to express his concern.

Heard the distressing news from Iran regarding Hon. President Seyed Ibrahim Raisi’s helicopter. Waiting with great anxiety for good news that all is well. Our prayers and best wishes are with Hon.President Raisi and the entire Iranian nation.”
