Here's what Imran Khan said on journalist Arshad Sharif's death

Ending speculation over who had asked the slain journalist Arshad Sharif to flee the country, former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan admitted to have advised the journalist to leave the country.

Speaking to Pakistan website Daily Times, Khan exclaimed that he stood by his claims but not one asked him why he advised Sharif to leave his motherland.

He said all those interested in the naming game should focus on how Sharif braved threatening circumstances and never compromised his conscience.

Khan said he admired Sharif the most in journalism and felt sorry for his martyrdom.

"He was patriot, who bore the pain of Pakistan as no one ever had," Khan told Daily Times

Calling Sharif a martyr, the PTI chairman said journalists were being harassed across the country

Senior journalist Arshad Sharif was killed on Octover 24 in Kenya on his way to Nairobi, accompanied by his brother Khurram Ahmed.

Several reports have pointed to nexus of Pakistan army and Kenyan death sqauds in orchestrating operations against dissenting voices.
