Some US schools closed as viral TikTok challenge warns of shooting, bomb threats

Schools across the United States are on alert in response to TikTok posts warning of shooting and bomb threats on December 17.

However, authorities assured parents the viral posts were not considered credible.

But, due to the concern raised by parents and students, school officials in states like Arizona, Connecticut, Illinois, Montana, New York and Pennsylvania have increased police presence on campus. Some of them have even announced plans to close school buildings on Friday.

The anonymous posts circulating on TikTok warned that multiple schools would receive shooting and bomb threats.

TikTok said it's working with law enforcement but hasn't found "evidence of such threats originating or spreading via TikTok."
