As soon as the news of Elon Musk buying Twitter broke, there was a frenzy around the changes the Tesla boss would bring to the micro-blogging site.

Musk has long been against handing out permanent bans for violation of Twitter guidelines and has called for temporary time-outs.

Elon Musk had tweeted on Monday that he hopes that even his worst critics remain on Twitter because that is what free speech means.

Now, Twitter's new boss has explained what he means by free speech in a series of tweets.

He said that his definition of free speech is that which matches the law. Musk added that he is against censorship that goes far beyond the law.

He further tweeted that if people of a country are in favour of curtailing free speech they would ask their government to pass laws to that effect and therefore going beyond law is going beyond the will of the people.

This essentially means that Musk-owned Twitter will not go beyond the law of a country to protect free speech.
