Anti-war protest hit Russian television when a woman held up a "No War" placard during a live news bulletin at a popular Russian news channel.

On Monday evening, a woman holding an anti-war sign ran onto the set and stood behind the presenter. The sign read, “No war, stop the war, don’t believe the propaganda, they are lying to you here”.

The channel hurriedly cut out of the bulletin and the protester was later arrested.

The woman, identified as Marina Ovsyannikova, works as an editor at Channel 1.

During the broadcast, she could be heard saying ‘Stop the war’ before it was quickly cut to a pre-recorded news report.

Earlier, she recorded a video of herself in which she referred to the Russian invasion as a ‘crime’ and said she was ashamed to have worked for “Kremlin propaganda”.

Even Ukraine President Zelenskyy thanked the protester who interrupted Russian TV news with anti-war poster.
