US presidential election: Kamala Harris, Donald Trump neck-and-neck, shows Times/Siena poll

The US presidential campaign is entering its final stretch, with former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris neck and neck in the polls. But despite her efforts, a significant number of voters still say they need to know more about Harris. 28% of likely voters want more information about her, compared to just 9% for Trump.

A New York Times/Siena College poll shows Trump leading Harris 48% to 47% nationally, within the 3% margin of error. The results are consistent with polling averages in the seven battleground states that will decide the election.

With their only scheduled debate on Tuesday, Harris has a crucial opportunity to connect with voters and close the gap. Will she be able to take the lead remains to be seen.
