As the blizzard in US rages on, citizens are battling sub-zero temperatures, some without power due to the storm that has taken over North America.

Visuals shared by citizens and weather stations show snow drifts that have buried SUVs completely with some sharing pictures of their backyards partially submerged due to heavy snowfall.

Buffalo city in western New York is one of the worst-affected regions with hurricane-force winds and snow causing whiteout conditions. Emergency services are paralysed and the airport has been shut, leaving the city completely marooned.

Retweeting a user's video of a Hamburg restaurant, New York Governor said, "With snow still falling and windchill temperatures below zero, Hoaks looks like a scene out of Frozen. Please stay home, stay warm, and stay safe, New York.'

A huge heap of snow up to 6 feet in height can be seen in a photo shared by the Twitter handle of the National Weather Service (NWS) Buffalo.

Another video shared by the Weather Nation showed stranded cars on the road, buried deep in snow drifts with houses covered in snow looking like ice castles.

“Wild one out there today and tonight. Can't remember seeing it like this for a long time, if ever. Insanely high winds and whiteout snow and some snow drift a few feet high,” a user tweeted along with a video showcasing the biting cold conditions.

The scope of the storm has been nearly unprecedented, stretching from the Great Lakes near Canada to the Rio Grande along the border with Mexico. About 60% of the U.S. population faced some sort of winter weather advisory or warning, and temperatures plummeted drastically below normal from east of the Rocky Mountains to the Appalachians, the National Weather Service said.

Over 30 across the US have lost their lives in storm-related incidents so far.
