Bhumi Pednekar opens up on her role in recent release 'Bhakshak'

Bhumi Pednekar recently discussed her role in the film 'Bhakshak' during an interview with India Today, describing it as emotionally challenging. She mentioned grappling with extensive research material, particularly concerning the harsh realities faced by young girls, which left a lasting impact on her.

She said, ‘Absolutely, it was emotionally challenging. There was a lot of research material that I had. The unfortunate thing is that my research material was actually something that happened with these little girls. So it wasn't something that you know or that you can live with. That information haunts you. It still haunts me. I don't think I'll ever be able to disconnect my conscience from everything that I read. Yes, it definitely wasn't the easiest shooting the film. But one thing that kind of made the journey easier, was the track that Sanjay Mishra and I have’.

Describing her character in the film, Bhumi said, ‘I play a journalist who belongs to that part of the world of journalism, where she is a lone ranger. She lacks institutional support or financial backing but possesses unwavering determination. What sets her apart is her quiet strength and commitment to her passion. And that's why I love this character. Unlike typical female-led thrillers where the protagonist is empowered by external factors, she relies solely on her voice, microphone, love for her passion and integrity.’

About ‘Bhaksak’

Directed by Pulkit, the film also features Sanjay Mishra, Sai Tamhankar, and Aditya Srivastava in important roles.

The movie premieres on Netflix on February 9.
