In response to the Central Government's decision to raise medicine prices, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced on Wednesday that her party, the Trinamool Congress (TMC), will organize statewide protests on April 4-5.

Expressing her dismay, Banerjee urged an immediate reversal of the decision, stating, "I am shocked at the decision to hike prices of medicines. It cannot be accepted. I call for immediate withdrawal of the price rise." Her remarks came as she addressed reporters at the state secretariat.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the TMC's demonstrations will cover "every block and ward" across the state, aiming to voice strong opposition to the medicine price increase.

In addition, Banerjee appealed for communal harmony, urging people from all communities to ensure peace during the upcoming Ram Navami celebrations and to disregard any circulating rumors.

The protests highlight the TMC's stance against the Centre's policy changes as they seek to rally public support in opposition to the recent price hike.
