The BJP on 22nd March announced that they will be contesting alone for the upcoming Lok Sabha and Odisha state elections, indicating the breakdown of alliance talks with Naveen Patnaik-led BJD party.

Taking to social media X, BJP's state president Manmohan Samal said that BJP will be fighting in all 21 Lok Sabha and 147 Assembly seats, claiming that the central government's welfare schemes were not reaching the people of Odisha.

"Today in Odisha many of the welfare schemes of the Modi government are not reaching the grass root level, due to which the poor sisters and brothers of Odisha are not getting the benefits. We cannot agree with the state government on many issues related to Odisha-asmita, glory of Odisha and interests of the people of Odisha," Samal said on X in Odia.

"Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will fight alone this time in all 21 Lok Sabha and 147 Assembly seats to create a developed India and a developed Odisha under the visionary leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to fulfill the hopes, aspirations and aspirations of four and a half crore Odiyans," he added.

The alliance talks began after PM Modi's recent visits to the state. The BJD has been supporting the BJP government in Parliament over all major issues for the past five years.
