The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has taken back its plan of mass sterilisation of stray dogs in the particularly near G20 venues till the summit concludes.

The development comes after People for Animals termed the plan "illegal, impractical, and unwarranted".

A circular issued by the MCD on August 2 said a massive sterilisation programme for dogs will start from August 3 and will continue till August 30.

However, the civic body on August 5 issued a fresh circular and said, the plan is withdrawn with immediate effect, adding on evaluation it realised there is no special need to conduct such an exercise.
