IND vs WI 1st ODI: Rohit, Chahal shine as India thrash West Indies by 6 wickets, take 1-0 lead

Rohit Sharma's Team India started their new journey in white-ball cricket with a bang as they defeated West Indies by 6 wickets at Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad on Sunday.

India chased down the 177-run target in just 28 Overs as Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan gave the hosts a powerful start with an 84-run opening stand.

Rohit who was returning after an injury thrashed West Indies bowlers all around the ground, scoring 60 runs in 51 balls, with 10 fours and a six. There was minor hiccup during the chase after Virat Kohli, Kishan, and Rishabh Pant departed in quick succession.

However, the debutant Deepak Hooda and Suryakumar Yadav ensured that India would not lose more wickets and steered the team home with a 62-run stand.

Earlier, West Indies failed to score big runs as India took wickets at regular intervals and bundled out for 176 inside 44 Overs. Yuzvendra Chahal was the pick of the Indian bowlers as he returned with the figures of 4-49.
