India vs England: Ravi Shastri slams India's timid batting, Pietersen questions Bumrah's captaincy

Ravi Shastri has slammed India's batting approach in the 5th Test vs England and has called it timid.

As the visitors were bowled out for a mere 245 in the 2nd innings of the Edgbaston Test, losing the last 7 wickets for just 92 runs, the former India head coach said that India could have batted England out of the contest had they not been defensive and timid in their approach.

'Runs were important at that stage of the game and I thought they just went into a shell, lost those wickets too quickly, and gave enough time for England to bat,' added Shastri.

Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen also questioned India's stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah's captaincy and said that he got his tactics all wrong. Pietersen felt that India gave away singles far too easily and didn't have an attacking field.

India has now lost all of their last 3 overseas Tests and bowlers failed to defend good totals in all of those games.
