Tim David, the powerful Singapore-born Australian batsman for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), is gearing up for a significant encounter at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday. The match against the Mumbai Indians (MI) presents an intriguing subplot: David facing off against one of the world's most formidable death bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah, a familiar face from his three-year term with MI.

Reflecting on his net sessions with Bumrah, David noted, "I'll just try and get my toes out of the way as he's got a pretty lethal yorker. He's a brilliant bowler."

This insight underscores David’s awareness of Bumrah's exceptional skill set, especially as the MI ace returns from a hiatus due to a lower back injury sustained during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. Bumrah, who was absent from MI's initial matches this season, is expected to make his comeback on Tuesday.

With David poised to bat in the latter stages of the innings, a clash with Bumrah seems inevitable.

"When you put in big performances against the best teams, against the best players, they're the best feelings you get as a player. So you want to be challenged by the best, and I'm looking forward to that,” David remarked, echoing his enthusiasm for high-stakes cricket.

David, 29, expressed his hope for a strong start from RCB against Bumrah, aiming for imposing shots right from the start.

"If we're going to go deep in this tournament, we need to beat the best teams, we need to beat the best players. So you know, hopefully Boom [Bumrah's nickname] bowls the ball in the first over tomorrow night, and the first ball goes for four or six from whoever's batting for us," he stated.

Returning to Mumbai elicits mixed emotions for David, who cherishes his time with MI while being focused on his current role with RCB.

"Firstly, yeah, it's bittersweet coming back to Mumbai. Obviously, a lot of great memories playing here and a lot of good friends to catch up with," he shared, noting the emotional draw of familiar surroundings.

David’s form for RCB has been noteworthy; in three matches, he has amassed 54 runs at a striking rate of 207.69, with a top score of 32. Known for his explosive batting, David transitioned from playing for Singapore to representing Australia and was part of the 2022 T20 World Cup squad.

As RCB gears up for the clash, the team is bolstered by the availability of all players for selection, setting the stage for an electrifying contest against Bumrah and his MI teammates.
