Yashasvi Jaiswal enters Top 10 of ICC Test batting rankings following stellar series against England

In an impressive ascent within the international cricket arena, Yashasvi Jaiswal has made his mark by entering the top-10 of the ICC Test batters' rankings. This achievement comes as a testament to his exceptional performance in the current series against England, marking a significant milestone early in his career.

Having made his Test debut in 2023, Jaiswal's recent exploits have seen him surge two places up the rankings, now sitting at the 10th position with a commendable 727 rating points. His remarkable run of form makes him the only left-handed Indian batsman to surpass the 600-run threshold in a Test series, and 5th Indian batter overall, joining a prestigious list of Indian cricket legends including Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Sardesai, Rahul Dravid, and Virat Kohli.

The 22-year-old's batting prowess is evident from his tally of 655 runs across four Tests at an average of 93.57, boasting two fifties and two centuries, both of which he converted into double hundreds. This feat positions Jaiswal within striking distance of Sunil Gavaskar’s record for the most runs scored by an Indian in a Test series, which stands at 774 runs.

The ongoing series has also seen shifts in the rankings of other prominent players. Indian captain Rohit Sharma, with his 131-run inning in the third Test at Rajkot, has climbed to the 11th spot, advancing two positions. Despite missing the series against England, Virat Kohli moved up to the eighth position.

In the realm of bowlers, India's Ravindra Jadeja experienced a slight dip, falling to the seventh position. However, Australian bowlers Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon saw improvements in their standings, moving up to fourth and sixth places respectively, following Australia's significant victory over New Zealand.
