The world’s richest cricket league, the IPL, is in its final moments of 2023.

And here's what the IPL champions and the Orange & Purple cap winners will take home as cash reward.

The IPL champions will be awarded a whopping ₹20 crores while the runners-up will take home ₹13 crores.

Teams that locked horns in the Eliminator, Mumbai Indians who won the contest will receive ₹7 crores and Lucknow Super Giants will take home ₹6.5 crores respectively.

The total prize money offered by the BCCI stands at a massive ₹46.5 CR.

Meanwhile, the coveted Orange and Purple cap holders will pocket ₹15 lakhs each.

Winner of the inaugural IPL season back in 2008 had only won ₹4.8 crores and the runner-up had gotten half the amount.

From 2010 onwards, winners were awarded ₹10 crores and 2nd placed teams would get ₹5 crores.

In 2016, BCCI decided to increase the reward to ₹20 crores for title holders and the losing finalists got ₹11 crores.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2010 prize money was reintroduced. Normalcy returned next season and so did the lucrative prize money.
