Poll strategist Prashant Kishor was trolled when in December 2020 he predicted a humiliating defeat for the BJP in Assembly elections in West Bengal. He had claimed that BJP would struggle to even cross double digits in the election.

"For all the hype AMPLIFIED by a section of supportive media, in reality BJP will struggle to CROSS DOUBLE DIGITS in West Bengal," he tweeted.

Raising the stakes, he had even promised to quit the business of campaign management if his prediction didn't come true...

As the results came in on Sunday morning, Kishor was proven right with the TMC sweeping the election.

Talking to India Today, Prashant Kishor on Sunday announced his retirement from election management. He said, he had been thinking of quitting for too long and was looking for an opportunity, and Bengal gave him the chance.

Mamata Banerjee had roped in Kishor last year to run her election campaign. A number of TMC leaders, who recently quit the party, had blamed Prashant Kisor's style of functioning.

But as they say winner takes it all. Kishor, who earlier worked on Jagan Reddy's campaign in Andhra and for Congress in Punjab has another feather in his strategist cap. Today he has earned his bragging rights.
