Actor-turned-politician Khushbu Sundar, who has recently joined the BJP, was on Tuesday detained in Tamil Nadu's Chengalpattu district during a protest against the VCK chief over his remarks on Manusmriti. Thol Thirumavalavan, the VCK chief, had recently demanded a ban on Manusmriti claiming that the religious text demeans women. The BJP has demanded an apology from the leader saying that his comments could communal clash. The party's women's wing has called for state-wide protests.
