SC stays K'taka HC order on Oxygen supply; Centre loses case

The Supreme Court on Friday said there is nothing wrong with the Karnataka High Court order asking the Centre to reconsider its daily liquid medical oxygen allocation to the state.

The Centre had moved the top court against the Karnataka High Court’s order to increase daily oxygen allocation for the state from 965 MT to 1200 MT.

‘Don’t want to leave the citizens of Karnataka in the lurch,' the bench headed by Justice D Y Chandrachud said. The top court also noted that the High Court’s order is a careful, calibrated exercise and it sees no reason to entertain the Centre's appeal.

Karnataka one of the worst hit by the deadly second wave of Covid recorded 49,058 fresh infections and 328 deaths.
