On a day Prime Minister Narendra Modi specifically expressed concerns over the Covid-19 situation in Maharashtra, the BJP state unit held protests in parts of Maharashtra demanding re-opening of temples. The BJP argued that if the Shiv Sena-led govt can allow bars in the state to re-open it can also allow temples to re-open. The state BJP has been making this demand ever since Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray decided to relax certain restrictions in Maharashtra.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi had said that the Covid-19 situation in Maharashtra is a little more worrying and had urged everyone not to be careless or complacent.
