Unidentified gunmen ambushed former Haryana MLA Nafe Singh Rathee's car in Jhajjar district and shot him dead.

Former Haryana MLA Nafe Singh Rathee was shot dead by assailants on February 25. The unidentified gunmen ambushed the Indian National Lok Dal party's state president's SUV car in Jhajjar's Bahadurgarh town. One other party member who was with Rathee also died.
Meanwhile, two security personnel who were with Rathee in the car are said to be in critical condition.
According to reports, the shooters were in a Hyundai i10 car when they fired multiple rounds at Rathee's car.
Doctors said that Rathee was brought dead as he sustained bullet injuries on his neck and other body parts.
&nbsp;"In the evening, four people who had been shot were brought to Brahma Shakti Sanjeevani Hospital. Out of them, two had suffered heavy bleeding and were brought dead, still, we tried CPR but they couldn't be saved. Two others are admitted to the ICU with gunshot wounds on the shoulder, thigh, and left side of the chest," Dr Manish Sharma at Brahma Shakti Sanjeevani Hospital told ANI.
"Former MLA Nafe Singh and another person Jaikishan were brought dead. They were shot in the neck, back, and shoulder. Multiple wounds suggest there were multiple rounds of fire... Sudden major vessel damage causes heavy blood loss and eventually, heart attack..."
Rathee served as an MLA of the INLD from Bahadurgarh where the attack took place. He has served twice as a legislator twice in the Haryana Legislative Assembly. He had also once contested Lok Sabha elections from Rohtak constituency.
It is believed that a property dispute may have been one of the reasons for the attack.
INLD leader Abhay Chautala told accused the government of failing to provide Rathee with security despite there being threat to his life, and demanded the resignation of Chief Minister ML Khattar and Home Minister Anil Vij.

Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel suspended BJP legislator Vijender Gupta on Tuesday for a year till the next Budget session for allegedly obstructing the proceedings of the House.

To this, Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel had said, "As per rules, such a notice needs to be given three hours before. You are also saying that it should be taken up for discussion. It seems the aim is to create a ruckus and waste the time of the House." The speaker also issued a strict warning to Gupta. The notice given by him mentioned the leaking of details of the 'Outcome Budget', which was tabled in the Assembly on Monday.
As the House reconvened after 2 pm, Gupta again raised the issue, following which AAP MLA Sanjeev Jha demanded that he be expelled for a year.

The motion as passed by the House with Goel saying that Gupta was suspended from the Delhi Assembly proceedings till the next Budget session.

The hike came into effect from 14 February when the President gave her assent, and a government notification was issued on 9 March.

Delhi legislators have gotten a hike of nearly 67% in salary and allowances, according to reports.
The pay of the chief minister and ministers, speaker, deputy speaker, the chief whip, and leader of the opposition have been increased from the ₹72,000 to ₹170,000 per month. The salary and allowances of MLAs have been increased from ₹54,000 to ₹90,000 per month.
Delhi MLAs got a pay hike after 12 years, with the last revision in 2011.
The hike came into effect from 14 February when the President gave her assent, and a government notification was issued on 9 March. The development hit headlines on 13 March.

The anti-corruption wing of Lokayukta nabbed sitting Karnataka BJP MLA Madal Virupakshappa's son while he was receiving a Rs 40 lakh bribe on Thursday. Prashanth Madal, son of the BJP MLA was caught by the Lokayukta officials while he was receiving the bribe at his office.
Notably, Madal Virupakshappa is the chairman of Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited. Lokayukta was on duty after getting a complaint about the demand for a bribe. According to the official source of Lokayukta, more than Rs 1.7 crore in cash was found at Prashanth Madal's office.
In a similar incident, a team of Lokayukta caught a clerk posted at Employees' State Insurance Corporation red-handed for accepting a bribe of Rs 5000 in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior on February 24, an official said. The accused clerk has been identified as Shubham Gupta. He was demanding a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a woman contractual employee posted in MPEB (Madhya Pradesh Electricity Board) in lieu of withdrawing her maternity leave money.&nbsp;

A Rajasthan Congress MLA's son was arrested on Monday for allegedly raping a minor girl, police said.
Deepak alias Dilip Meena, the son of Congress legislator from the Rajgarh assembly constituency Johari Lal Meena, is one of the three accused in the gang-rape of the 15-year-old girl in February 2021, the police said.
The two other accused had been arrested earlier.

Former Assam MLA Hitesh Basumatary was arrested along with two other persons for allegedly being involved in efforts to form a terror group, police said on Saturday.
"Sophisticated weapons" along with ammunition were recovered from his house, Kokrajhar's Additional Superintendent of Police Nabaneeta Sharma said.
Basumatary was arrested on Friday night from his residence in Baksa district, she said.
The two other persons arrested were Bodoland Jatiya Suraksha Manch working president Daorao Dekhrab Narzary and Bodoland Contractor Association president Bikram Daimary, she said.
While Narzary was arrested from Kokrajhar, Daimary was arrested from Udalguri.
"We had received information that some people were trying to form a new terrorist outfit and in this connection, we have arrested these persons," Sharma said.
When produced at the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate in Kokrajhar, Basumatary and Daimary were sent to five days in police custody. Narzary was sent to 14 days in judicial custody, she said.
"Further details will be known after the investigation," the officer said.
Basumatary was elected MLA from Chapaguri in 2011 on a Bodoland People's Front (BPF) ticket.

Baljinder Kaur, who is a 2-time legislator from Talwandi Sabo in Punjab, was allegedly slapped by husband Sukhraj Singh, who is also an AAP leader.
The video was reportedly shot on 10 July 2022, and is claimed to show Baljinder and Sukhraj arguing before the MLA is apparently slapped. Subsequently, some people present at the spot intervene.
Although the MLA has not filed any complaint, the Punjab State Women Commission chief Manisha Gulati has said that she will take suo motu action.
Baljinder and Sukhraj got married in February 2019. Sukhraj Singh is the convener of AAP's youth wing in Majha region.

On Monday, the BJP MLA released a video criticising stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui, who recently performed in the city. Singh is also purportedly seen making some comments against the religion in it.
Several people belonging to community staged protests in various parts of the city on Monday night demanding Singh's arrest.
Many All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) legislators and corporators of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation reached the police stations, where protests were held and sought stringent action against Raja Singh, party sources said.
According to police, complaints were filed against Singh in several police stations under South, East and West Zones.
Dabeerpur Police Inspector G Koteswar Raos said they received a complaint against Singh, which alleged that the BJP MLA made derogatory remarks against a religion.
An FIR was booked against Singh under various sections of IPC pertaining to promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs and criminal intimidation among others, he said.
During the arrest, the Goshamahal MLA told reporters that his video was pulled down by the social media platform on which it was uploaded and that he will upload “part 2” of the clip after his release.
“They removed my video from YouTube. I don’t know what the police are going to do. Once I am released second part (of the video) will certainly be uploaded. I am doing it for Dharma. I am ready to die for dharma,” he said.
Singh sought to know why several complaints were lodged against him in various police stations.
“Why there are complaints? Our Ram is not Ram? Our Sita is Sita? I requested the DGP with folded hands not to allow the person (Munawar Faruqui) who made comedy with vulgar language against Ram and Sita,” he said.
On August 19, Raja Singh was taken into custody by the police here when he tried to reach the venue of a show held to be held next day by stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui.
Faruqui performed the show on that day even as the police picked up 50 people who tried to reach the venue and protest.

The Congress government in Rajasthan was left red-faced after party MLA Pana Chand Meghwal reportedly tendered his resignation over atrocities against Dalits. Doohan said that in order to free the MLAs, she mapped a route inside the hotel which would not have CCTV cameras. Subsequently, one NCP MLA was taken out of the back gate which was linked to another hotel. When two more were being taken out, uproar broke out.
Doohan said that she had to leave her own car at the hotel, and take another vehicle to drive the 2 MLAs to Sharad Pawar's house in Delhi. Then, the fourth MLA was "rescued" at 2:30 at night.

In an extremely bizarre incident, a Janata Dal (United) MLA Gopal Mandal was spotted roaming in his undergarments while travelling on a train on Thursday.
Gopal Mandal was travelling from Patna to New Delhi on the Tejas Rajdhani Express when he was seen roaming in his undergarments in a train compartment.
The Bihar MLA defended his action, saying that his stomach was upset during the journey.
Co-passengers strongly objected to the MLA's indecent display and it almost led to a fight with Mandal hurling abuses at the passengers.

In a setback to the opposition Congress in Assam, its MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi on Friday resigned from the party and the assembly, announcing that he will join the BJP soon.
The tea community leader tendered his resignation to Speaker Biswajit Daimary and also sent it to Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
The four-time MLA said he decided to quit the Congress as the high command doesn't listen to the leaders working on the ground. He added that till Rahul Gandhi is at the helm, Congress will not be able to revive.
The Congress, meanwhile, expelled Kurmi from the party for "his anti-party activities".
