Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Kuwait on Saturday on a two-day trip to further strengthen "multifaceted" ties between India and the Gulf nation.

During the visit, Modi will hold discussions with the leadership of Kuwait and will also interact with the Indian community.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a two-day visit to Kuwait from Saturday in what will be the first trip to the Gulf nation by an Indian prime minister in 43 years.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), announcing the visit, said it will provide an opportunity to further strengthen the "multifaceted" ties between India and Kuwait.
Modi is paying the visit at the invitation of Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, it said.
During the visit, Modi will hold discussions with the leadership of Kuwait and will also interact with the Indian community.
"India and Kuwait share traditionally close and friendly relations which are rooted in history and have been underpinned by economic and strong people to people linkages," the MEA said in a statement.
The last Indian prime minister to visit Kuwait was Indira Gandhi in 1981.
India is among the top trading partners of Kuwait. The Indian community is the largest expatriate community in Kuwait.
"The visit will provide an opportunity to further strengthen the multifaceted ties between India and Kuwait," the MEA added.
Kuwait is among India's top trading partners, with bilateral trade valued at USD 10.47 billion in the financial year 2023-24.
Kuwait is India's sixth largest crude supplier, meeting 3 percent of the country's energy needs.
Indian exports to Kuwait reached USD 2 billion for the first time, while investments by the Kuwait Investment Authority in India exceed USD 10 billion.
India and Kuwait have enjoyed traditionally friendly relations, with links dating back to pre-oil Kuwait when maritime trade with India was the backbone of its economy.
Kuwait's economy revolved around its fine harbour and maritime activities which included ship building, pearl diving, fishing and voyages to India on wooden dhows carrying dates, Arabian horses and pearls that were traded for wood, cereals, clothes and spices, according to people tracking the ties between the two nations.
The Indian Rupee remained legal tender in Kuwait until 1961, a symbol of the enduring economic and cultural ties.
Diplomatic relations between the two countries were formally established in 1961, with India initially represented by a trade commissioner.
Emir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Jabar Al Sabah visited India on a private visit in July 2017.
The last high-level visit from either side was that of the prime minister of Kuwait to India in 2013.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday stoutly defended Amit Shah from the Congress' charge that he insulted B R Ambedkar in his speech in the Rajya Sabha, asserting that the Home Minister in fact exposed the party's "dark history of insulting" the architect of the Constitution, leaving the main opposition "stung and stunned".
"They are clearly stung and stunned by the facts he presented, which is why they are now indulging in theatrics. Sadly, for them, people know the truth," Modi said in a series of posts on X.
When it comes to Ambedkar, his government's respect and reverence are absolute, the prime minister asserted.
In a searing attack on the Congress, Modi said if the party and its "rotten ecosystem" think their "malicious lies" can hide their misdeeds of several years, especially their insults towards Ambedkar, they are gravely mistaken.
He said people of India have seen time and again how one party, led by one dynasty, a reference to the Nehru-Gandhi family, has indulged in every possible dirty trick to obliterate Ambedkar's legacy and humiliate the SC/ST communities.
The list of the Congress' sins towards Ambedkar includes getting him defeated in elections not once but twice, first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru campaigning against him and making his loss a prestige issue, denying him a Bharat Ratna, and not allowing his portrait a place of pride in Parliament's Central Hall, the prime minister said.
He said, "The Congress can try as they want but they can't deny that the worst massacres against SC/ST Communities have happened under their regimes. For years, they sat in power but did nothing substantive to empower the SC and ST communities."
Modi said it is due to Ambedkar that "we are what we are", as he listed a series of measures taken by his government to implement his vision and accord respect to the iconic personality.
He said his government has worked tirelessly to fulfil Ambedkar's vision over the last decade.
"Take any sector - be it removing 25 crore people from poverty, strengthening the SC/ST Act, our Government&rsquo;s flagship programmes like Swachh Bharat, PM Awas Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, Ujjwala Yojana and more, each of them has touched the lives of the poor and marginalised. Our Government has worked to develop Panchteerth, the five iconic places associated with Dr. Ambedkar," he added.
For decades, Modi said, there was a pending issue involving land for "Chaitya Bhoomi", where Ambedkar was cremated. "Not only did our Government resolve the issue, I have gone to pray there as well," he added.
"We have also developed 26, Alipur Road in Delhi, where Dr. Ambedkar spent his last years. The house where he lived in London has also been acquired by the Government. When it comes to Dr. Ambedkar, our respect and reverence is absolute," he said.
Both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha witnessed protests from the Congress and some other opposition parties over Shah's alleged insult of Ambedkar, resulting in both the Houses being adjourned.

Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of misleading the country by "twisting facts" about Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru's letter on the reservation to states and demanded an apology.
Participating in a discussion on the 'Glorious Journey of 75 years of the Constitution of India' in the Upper House, Kharge also accused the BJP leaders of indulging in the 'bhakti' of Prime Minister Modi, asserting that it was leading the country towards dictatorship.
The Congress President cited Modi's speech in which he had said there was no elected government between 1947 and 1952 and the Congress had illegally amended the Constitution.
Kharge said the first amendment was carried out by the Constituent Assembly members which included Syama Prasad Mookerjee and was undertaken to provide reservation to Scheduled Caste, and Scheduled Tribes, fix problems related to education, employment and abolish the Zamindari system.
"I want to inform the House that the Supreme Court had rejected Madras state's decision on the reservation."
He said that the other aspect of this amendment was to stop communal propaganda and Sardar Patel in a letter on July 3, 1950, had suggested to Nehru that constitutional amendment was the only remedy for this problem.
"Therefore, Nehru wrote a letter to chief ministers. This has been mentioned in PM's speech after twisting facts to defame Nehru for which he should apologise to the nation. This is my demand. If you twist the facts before the nation and attempt to defame, then you should apologise in this House and other Houses and before the people of this country," Kharge said.

He said erstwhile leaders of RSS were against the Constitution.
"In 1949, the entire country knew that RSS leaders opposed the Constitution because it was not based on Manusmriti. RSS mouthpiece Organiser in the edition of November 30, 1949, had written about it," he said.
Kharge said that it is clear from debates of the Constituent Assembly that erstwhile leaders of RSS were against the Constitution.
"Those who hated the flag, Ashok Chakra and the Constitution are today giving lessons to us on the Constitution."
Kharge said that even when many powerful countries were not practising universal adult franchises, women and all sections of societies in India were given the right to vote during the Congress regime through the Constitution.
He said that government leaders cut-paste information and present it at their convenience to twist facts.
"Those who did not fight for the country, how will they know the importance of freedom, Constitution?" Kharge asked.
BJP has been giving 'jumlas' and befooling people of the country and questioned promises made by Modi to pay Rs 15 lakh, he said adding people are still waiting for the money as well as two crore jobs and doubling of farmers' income.
Kharge said that BJP is against reservation and that is why the party is against caste census.
He further said the Congress government will implement women's reservations faster than the BJP.
Kharge also raised the issue of Manipur, which has been suffering from ethnic violence for the last one-and-half years. He said that the prime minister travels everywhere but has no time to visit the strife-torn state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday termed the Maha Kumbh 2025 a &ldquo;mahayagya of unity&rdquo; which would take the country&rsquo;s cultural and spiritual identity to new heights.
Addressing a public meeting here while inaugurating various developmental projects, the prime minister said the differences of castes and sects disappear at the Maha Kumbh.

The projects also included Sah&rsquo;AI&rsquo;yak Chatbot &mdash; an Artificial Intelligence-based platform to streamline communication for devotees attending the Maha Kumbh.

Before attending the public meeting, the PM began the visit with the ceremonial puja and darshan at the holy Sangam &mdash; the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati rivers. Modi undertook a river cruise before the puja.
Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were also present with the prime minister at the puja.

The 2025 Maha Kumbh Mela will be held from January 13 (Paush Poornima) to February 26 (Maha Shivratri) at Prayagraj. The Maha Kumbh is organised every 12 years.&nbsp;

The bag drew attention from her brother, Rahul Gandhi, who commented with a smile, &ldquo;Look how cute this is!&rdquo; after examining the design and slogan.
This gesture is part of the ongoing opposition criticism of the government, particularly regarding allegations of bribery involving Adani in the U.S. Since the beginning of the parliamentary session on November 20, both Houses have faced repeated disruptions as the opposition demands a probe into the matter.
On Monday (December 9), Congress MPs Manickam Tagore and Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka wore face masks of Modi and Adani as part of protests demanding a joint parliamentary investigation into the bribery case.
Rahul Gandhi was seen clicking pictures of the MPs and jokingly asking about their "relationship," to which they humorously replied, "We have had a relationship for years."
Opposition MPs from the INDIA alliance, excluding Trinamool Congress, Samajwadi Party, and Aam Aadmi Party, joined the protests, chanting slogans such as "Modi, Adani ek hain" and "We want justice" outside the Makar Dwar of Parliament.

"For thousands of years, we have been sharing our knowledge and expertise. We didn't give 'Yuddha' (war), we gave the world 'Buddha'. India always gave peace and prosperity, and therefore India is going to strengthen its role in the 21st century," Modi said, a day after he arrived here from Moscow where he highlighted the importance of finding a peaceful solution to the Ukraine war during talks with President Vladimir Putin.
Describing his first visit to Austria as "meaningful", Modi said that after 41 years, an Indian Prime Minister has visited the country.
"This long wait has come to an end on a historic occasion. India and Austria are celebrating 75 years of their friendship," he said.
"India and Austria are geographically on two different ends, but we have many similarities. Democracy connects both the countries. Our shared values are liberty, equality, pluralism, and respect for the rule of law. Our societies are multicultural and multilingual. Both countries celebrate diversity, and a big medium to reflect these values are elections," he said, amid chants of &lsquo;Modi, Modi&rsquo;.
Recalling the recently concluded general elections, Modi said 650 million people exercised their right to vote and despite such a big election, the results of the elections were declared within hours.
"It is the power of our electoral machinery and democracy," he said, highlighting that the people voted for continuity, giving him the mandate for a historic third term.
In his address, Prime Minister Modi talked about the transformative progress achieved by the country in the last 10 years and expressed confidence that India will become the third largest economy in the near future, on its way to becoming a developed country - Viksit Bharat - by 2047.
"Today, India is growing at the rate of 8%. Today, we are in the 5th position, and soon, we will be in the top 3. I promised the people of my country that I would make India one of the top three economies in the world. We aren't just working to reach the top position, our mission is 2047," he said, adding that India will celebrate 100 years of its independence in 2047 as a developed nation.
Modi also talked about how Austrian expertise in green growth and innovation could partner India, leveraging its high growth trajectory and globally reputed start-up ecosystem.
He dwelt on India being a "Vishwabandhu&rdquo; and contributing to global progress and well-being. He urged the community to continue nurturing their cultural and emotional bonds with the motherland, even as they prosper in their new homeland.
"I have always believed that relations between two countries are not built just by governments; public participation is very important in strengthening relations. That is why I consider the role of all of you important for these relationships," he told the community members.
He also mentioned the deep intellectual interest in Indian philosophy, languages and thought that has existed in Austria for centuries.
"Around 200 years ago, Sanskrit was taught at Vienna's university. In 1880, with the establishment of an independent chair for Indology, it got more push. Today, I got the opportunity to meet some eminent Indologists, it was quite apparent from their discussions that they had great interest in India," Modi said.
Austrian Federal Minister of Labour and Economy Martin Kocher also attended the event, which saw participation of the Indian diaspora from across the country.
More than 31,000 Indians are living in Austria. The Indian diaspora mainly consists of professionals working in the health-care and other sectors and in multilateral UN bodies. There are around 500 Indian students pursuing higher education in Austria.

"An important milestone in India-Austria partnership! PM @narendramodi hosted by Austrian Chancellor @karlnehammer for a private engagement. This is the first meeting between the two leaders. Discussions on realising the full potential of bilateral partnership lie ahead," MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a post on X, along with photographs of the two leaders together in Vienna.
Modi was seen hugging Nehammer in one of the photos while in another, the Austrian chancellor was seen clicking a selfie with the prime minister.
Nehammer posted a photo of him and Modi on the microblogging platform and said: "Welcome to Vienna, PM @narendramodi! It is a pleasure and honour to welcome you to Austria. Austria and India are friends and partners. I look forward to our political and economic discussions during your visit!" The prime minister thanked the Austrian chancellor "for the warm welcome" and said he looks forward to "our discussions tomorrow as well. Our nations will continue working together to further global good".
In another post on X, Modi said: "Happy to meet you in Vienna, Chancellor @karlnehammer. The India-Austria friendship is strong and it will get even stronger in the times to come." This is the first visit by an Indian prime minister to Austria in more than 40 years, the last being of Indira Gandhi in 1983.
During Modi's visit to Austria, the two countries will explore ways to further deepen their relationship and closer cooperation on various geopolitical challenges.
Earlier, the prime minister said on X: "Landed in Vienna. This visit to Austria is a special one. Our nations are connected by shared values and a commitment to a better planet. Looking forward to the various programmes in Austria including talks with Chancellor @karlnehammer, interactions with the Indian community and more." Modi was welcomed by Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg at the airport.
In an earlier post on X, the MEA spokesperson said, "As the two countries are celebrating 75th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations this year, this momentous visit will add renewed momentum to India-Austria ties." Modi will call on the President of the Republic of Austria, Alexander Van der Bellen, and hold talks with Nehammer on Wednesday.

Congress Party's Rajya Sabha MP Jairam Ramesh on the 9th of July submitted a breach of privilege notice against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making &ldquo;derogatory&rdquo; remarks against former vice president Hamid Ansari during a speech in the Lok Sabha.
Earlier in a letter to Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar,&nbsp; Ramesh also alleged that no prime minister has ever attacked a former speaker of Lok Sabha or chairman of Rajya Sabha in the manner in which Modi has done.
Notwithstanding the fact that the prime minister did not specifically took the name of Ansari, needless to state that these "derogatory remarks" were attributed to the former chairman, Rajya Sabha, Ramesh said in his letter to Dhankhar, who is also the Chairman of the Upper House.
"The accusation attributed to Dr. Hamid Ansari of 'leaning' towards the Opposition made by the prime minister is wholly unacceptable and grossly derogatory to say the least, apart from being completely false," he said.
Incidentally, this is not the first time that the prime minister has targeted former vice president Ansari, Ramesh said in his letter dated July 8.
He pointed out that on August 10, 2017, the prime minister in his farewell speech on Ansari's retirement in the Balayogi Auditorium had alluded to then retiring chairman's earlier diplomatic postings in a "mischievous manner".
"No prime minister has ever attacked a former speaker of Lok Sabha or chairman of Rajya Sabha in the manner in which Shri Narendra Modi has done," the Congress leader alleged.
The prime minister has broken all parliamentary norms, decorum and, as a matter of fact, set a new low to the dignity of the very office of the Prime Minister of India, he claimed.
"Such defamatory remarks made on the floor of Lok Sabha, attributing derogatory motives to the former Chairman of Rajya Sabha when he was not present to defend himself is tantamount to grave disregard and disrespect to the high office of the Chairman, Rajya Sabha, as well as to the Rajya Sabha itself. I, therefore, seek privilege proceedings against the prime minister in the matter," Ramesh said in his letter to Dhankhar.
While Modi did not name anyone, former vice president Ansari was the chairman of the Rajya Sabha from August 2012 to August 2017.
Last week, in a post on X, Ramesh had said, "One thing that the non-biological PM said in the Lok Sabha on July 2nd has escaped much media notice. What he said was simply awful and unacceptable, and ought to have been immediately expunged."&nbsp;

Delivering an unambiguous message, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday told Russian President Vladimir Putin that a solution to the Ukraine conflict is not possible on the battlefield and peace talks do not succeed amidst bombs, guns and bullets.
In his televised opening remarks at summit talks with Putin in the Kremlin, Modi, in an apparent reference to the bombing of a children's hospital in Ukraine, said the death of innocent children is heart-wrenching and very painful.
The Indian prime minister assured the world community that India is on the side of peace and the conflict must be resolved through talks.
"For a bright future of the new generation, peace is most essential. A solution is not possible on the battlefield..Peace talks do not succeed amidst bombs, guns and bullets," he said.
"For restoration of peace, India is ready to cooperate in all possible ways," Modi said.
The 22nd India-Russia annual summit took place a day after Modi arrived in Moscow on a two-day visit that has been watched closely by the West in view of the Ukraine conflict.
"We would urge India, as we do (with) any country when it engages with Russia, to make clear that any resolution to the conflict in Ukraine needs to be one that respects the UN charter, that respects Ukraine's territorial integrity, Ukraine's sovereignty," US State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller said in Washington ahead of Modi-Putin talks.
In his remarks, the prime minister made a veiled reference to the bombing of a children's hospital in Ukraine on Monday.
"Everyone believing in humanity is pained if there is loss of lives. In that too, if innocent children are murdered; if innocent children die, it is heart-wrenching and very painful," Modi said.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy took objection to the Indian leader hugging Putin.
"A Russian missile struck the largest children's hospital in Ukraine, targeting young cancer patients. Many were buried under the rubble," Zelenskyy said on 'X'.
"It is a huge disappointment and a devastating blow to peace efforts to see the leader of the world's largest democracy hug the world's most bloody criminal in Moscow on such a day," he said.
In his comments, Modi also referred to his informal meeting with Putin on Monday night and said listening to the Russian president lent "hope".
At our meeting yesterday, we listened to each other's views on Ukraine and I also placed before you the Global South's expectation on peace and stability, Modi said.
The prime minister appreciated the India-Russia cooperation in averting food, fuel, and fertiliser shortages for Indians in the past few years.
When the world was facing a shortage of food, fuel and fertilisers, we did not allow our farmers to face any problem and our friendship with Russia played a role in that, Modi said.
We could insulate common citizens in India from difficulties in terms of availability of petrol and diesel because of your cooperation, he said, adding India wants its cooperation with Russia to expand further.
The prime minister also flagged concerns over the challenges of terrorism.
India has been facing the challenge of terrorism for around 40 years; I condemn all forms of terrorism, Modi said.
After the summit, Modi described his discussions with Putin as "productive".
"Held productive discussions with President Putin at the Kremlin today. Our talks covered ways to diversify India-Russia cooperation in sectors such as trade, commerce, security, agriculture, technology and innovation," he said.
"We attach great importance to boosting connectivity and people-to-people exchanges," he added.&nbsp;

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Moscow on the 8th of July to kick off his official two-day visit, all eyes will be on the private dinner that is being hosted by Russian President Vladimir Putin later in the day.
Giving a sense of the nature of the conversation, Indian Ambassador to Russia Vinay Kumar said that dialogue will focus on trade, economic and investment cooperation, and connectivity.
It is also expected that Modi and Putin might also discuss the Ukraine issue.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told TASS news agency that the agenda for Modi&rsquo;s visit will be extensive, with opportunities for both formal discussions and informal talks between the leaders.
Before leaving for Russia, Modi had hailed the &ldquo;special and privileged strategic partnership between India and Russia.&rdquo;
Modi's visit comes amidst growing proximity between China and Russia, which has grown even closer since the sanctions were announced on Moscow in the wake of the Ukraine war.
India has so far not condemned Russia in its Ukraine war, and has also been the second-largest buyer of Russian gas, after China. Though there have been pressures from the West, New Delhi has parried off criticism and has continued to buy more gas. After concluding his engagements in Russia on July 9, Modi will leave for Austria in the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to that country in over 40 years.

New Delhi has been stoutly defending its "special and privileged strategic partnership" with Russia and maintained the momentum in the ties notwithstanding the Ukraine conflict.
India has not yet condemned Russia's attack on Ukraine and consistently pitched for resolution of the conflict through dialogue and diplomacy.
The prime minister said the visit will also provide him an opportunity to meet the vibrant Indian community in Russia.
The Indian prime minister was accorded a guard of honour at the airport. He was welcomed outside his hotel by a group of Russian artists who danced to the tune of Hindi songs.

During his two-day official visit to Russia from July 8 to 9 at the invitation of Putin for the 22nd India-Russia summit both leaders will review the entire range of multi-faceted ties between the two countries.
Putin will host a private dinner for Modi on the day of arrival.
The two leaders will also share perspectives on "regional and global developments of mutual interest," Kwatra said at a media briefing in New Delhi on Friday&nbsp; ahead of Modi's visit to Russia for the summit.
Sharing details about the Russia itinerary, Kwatra said, as of now, the prime minister is scheduled to arrive in Moscow late afternoon of July 8. The next day, Modi's interactions would include an interface with the Indian community in Russia.
The prime minister will also lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Kremlin. And, thereafter he will visit Rosatom pavilion at the exhibition venue in Moscow.
"These engagements will be followed by restricted-level talks between the two leaders, which will then be followed by delegation-level talks led by the honourable prime minister and the Russian President," he added.
The annual India-Russia summit is taking place after three years, and "we attach great importance to it," Kwatra said.
"The issue of early discharge of Indian nationals who have been misled into the service of the Russian Army is expected to figure in the discussions," he added.
After concluding his trip to Russia, Modi will travel to Austria, which will be the first visit by an Indian prime minister to that country in 41 years, the Ministry of External Affairs said on Thursday.
This will be Modi's first trip to Russia in nearly five years. His last visit to that country was in 2019 when he attended an economic conclave in the Far East city of Vladivostok.
This will also be his first visit to Russia since the conflict in Ukraine.
So far, 21 annual summits have taken place alternately in India and Russia. The last summit was held on December 6, 2021 in New Delhi. Putin had visited India to attend the summit.
"The 22nd annual summit between India and Russia would provide an opportunity to the two leaders to review the whole range of bilateral issues, including defence, trade linkages, investment ties, energy cooperation, S&amp;T, education, culture and people-to-people exchanges," the foreign secretary said.
Both sides are currently working on a "series of outcome documents" which would be the result of this summit, he added.
Kwatra said since the last summit, the two leaders met in 2022 in Samarkand on the margins of the SCO Summit in Uzbekistan.
"They have also stayed in touch with each other through several telephonic conversations through these years," he said.
The leaders will also assess the status of bilateral engagements in groupings such as BRICS, Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), G20, East Asia Summit, and the UN, the foreign secretary said.
Other areas of interest will include cooperation across the range of areas.
The last summit saw both sides sealing 28 MoUs and agreements besides coming out with a joint statement titled "India-Russia Partnership for Peace, Progress and Prosperity".
Modi will depart Moscow for Vienna in the afternoon of July 9, Kwatra said.
"India and Russia have a special and privileged partnership since 2020 which has remained resilient in the wake of multiple geopolitical challenges that the world has been facing," he said.
The annual summit between the two leaders is the highest mechanism to steer and drive the cooperation between the two countries.
"Our bilateral exchanges with Russia have also remained fairly frequent over the last year. The two foreign ministers have met several times last year, most recently they met day before yesterday on the sidelines of the SCO. The EAM (external affairs minister) had also visited Moscow and St Petersberg in December last year. And, the two National Security Advisors have also met a few times last year," Kwatra said.
India-Russia bilateral trade has seen a "sharp increase" in 2023-24. It has since touched close to USD 65 billion primarily due to strong energy cooperation between the two countries, the foreign secretary said.
On the second leg of his visit, Kwatra said Modi will visit Austria on July 9-10 at the invitation of the Chancellor of Austria.
This will be the first visit to Austria by an Indian prime minister, he said, adding the last prime ministerial visit from India to Austria took place more than 40 years ago.
Modi will call on the president of Austria and hold restricted, delegation-level talks, as also a high-level business engagement in Austria, Kwatra added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay a visit to Russia from July 8 to 9 to hold the 22nd India-Russia annual summit that will review the entire range of multifaceted ties between the two countries, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Thursday.
After concluding the trip to Russia, Modi will travel to Austria, which will be the first visit by an Indian prime minister to that country in 41 years, it said.
It will be Modi's first visit to Russia in nearly five years. His last visit to Russia was in 2019 when he attended an economic conclave in the Far East city of Vladivostok.
The annual summit between the prime minister of India and the president of Russia is the highest institutional dialogue mechanism in the strategic partnership between the two countries.
So far, 21 annual summits have taken place alternately in India and Russia.
The last summit was held on December 6, 2021 in New Delhi. President Vladimir Putin had visited India to attend the summit.
The summit saw both sides sealing 28 MoUs and agreements besides coming out with a joint statement titled "India-Russia Partnership for Peace, Progress and Prosperity".
Modi and Putin last held bilateral talks on the margins of a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) at Samarkand in Uzbekistan on September 16, 2022.
In the meeting, Modi had famously pressed Putin to end the conflict in Ukraine saying "today's era is not of war".
"I know today's era is not of war. We discussed this issue on phone several times that democracy, diplomacy and dialogue touch the entire world," Modi had said.

In reflection of its strong friendship with Russia, India has not yet condemned Moscow's invasion of Ukraine and it has been maintaining that the crisis must be resolved through diplomacy and dialogue.
India's import of Russian crude oil has also gone up significantly notwithstanding the G7 price cap and increasing disquiet over the procurement in many Western countries.
In December 2022, the G7 grouping and its allies announced a cap on the price of Russian oil as part of a series of punitive measures against Moscow in view of its invasion of Ukraine. The price cap restricts countries to pay more than USD 60 a barrel.
From Russia, Modi will travel to Austria. He will be in Austria on July 9 and 10.
"This will be the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Austria in 41 years. He will call on President of the Republic of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen and hold talks with Chancellor of Austria Karl Nehammer," the MEA said.
"The prime minister and Chancellor will also address business leaders from India and Austria," it said in a statement.
Modi will also interact with members of the Indian community in Moscow as well as in Vienna, the MEA said.

Congress MP Manickam Tagore has written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, alleging that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP MP Anurag Thakur made "factually incorrect, inaccurate and misleading statements" in the House, and sought appropriate action in the matter, sources said.
Tagore has written to Speaker Birla, requesting that provisions of direction 115(1) be invoked over the statements made by Modi and Thakur.
The Virudhunagar MP called on Birla to initiate requisite proceedings and take appropriate action over "factually incorrect, inaccurate and misleading statements" made by Prime Minister Modi and Thakur in the House.
He flagged that Prime Minister Modi in his reply to the Motion of Thanks to the President's address had said that the Congress made a "false promise" of Rs 8,500 per month to women, when the party's promise was conditional to victory and government formation.
He also challenged Prime Minister Modi's claim that the Congress vote share has gone down in 16 states in which it contested alone.
"This is factually incorrect. The Congress vote share increased in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Telangana etc.," Tagore was quoted as saying in the letter.
He also termed as "grossly misleading" Modi's remarks that "no bullet proof jackets [were provided] for the Army during the Congress&rsquo; time". "There was a shortage of jackets, not that jackets were not there. Even police had bullet proof jackets like in Mumbai attacks," Tagore said.
He also challenged the prime minister over the claim that the Congress didn&rsquo;t give fighter jets to the Army.
"We had Jaguar, Mig 29, SU- 30, Mirage 2000," the letter read.
Tagore also pointed out alleged inaccuracies in Thakur&rsquo;s July 1 speech in the Lok Sabha.
The Congress MP said Thakur claimed that the Army was not given arms and fighter jets when the party ruled the country.
"We had Jaguar, Mig 29, SU- 30, Mirage 2000....We had nuclear bombs, missiles like Agni, Prithvi, Aakash, Nag, Trishul and later Brahmos," he said.
Tagore also dubbed as "factually incorrect" Thakur's remarks that Prime Minister Modi has not taken a single holiday and asked which category of leave is taken for election campaigns.&nbsp;

The court also suggested that Kumar be treated for &lsquo;mental illness&rsquo;, if necessary, indicating that the man needed medical help.
Kumar moved the division bench challenging a single judge&rsquo;s May 30 order that had rejected his petition seeking the PM&rsquo;s disqualification, claiming that Modi submitted a false oath to bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution.
The single judge bench had noted that the plea was filled with unsubstantiated, reckless allegations and was tainted with malafide and oblique motives, reports Hindustan Times newspaper reported.&nbsp;
