Following reports that uranium possibly traced to Pakistan had caused a major security scare at London's Heathrow airport, Islamabad reacted sharply.

Pakistani officials said on 12 January 2023 that the consignment which was found to be contaminated with uranium did not originate in Karachi.

Pakistan's Foreign Office spokesperson said that UK had not shared any information officially, and the government is confident that the reports naming Pakistan are "not factual", as per a Dawn report.

A small quantity of uranium was found in scrap metal consignment on 29 December 2022, sparking anti-terror measures at the airport.

The cargo package reportedly arrived at Heathrow Airport Terminal 4 via Oman Air passenger flight WY 101, which arrived on the evening of December 29. The flight originated from Pakistan, where UK officials believe the package was checked in as cargo, and had a stopover in Muscat, Oman, as per reports.
