India, China's Sept 12 deadline to disengage at Gogra-Hot Springs in Ladakh, agreement to respect LAC

The latest round of disengagement of Indian and Chinese troops in Ladakh will conclude by 12 September 2022. The Indian government made the announcement on 9 September, a day after the disengagement process began at the Gogra-Hot Springs area.

As per the agreement, both India and China will cease forward deployments in the area. All temporary structures and other allied infrastructure which was built by the two sides will also be dismantled. This process will be verified by both camps. Landforms in the area will be restored to the state they were in before the stand-off began in 2020.

The Indian government statement said that the agreement ensures that the Line of Actual Control (LAC) is strictly observed in Gogra-Hot Springs, and there is no unilateral change in status quo.
