    In a severe blow to the world of Indian music and cinema, legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar passed away on February 6. She was aged 92.

    A state funeral will be held for the iconic musician, as per reports. Two days of national mourning will be observed in her memory. The national flag will fly at half-mast for two days as a mark of respect for the Bharat Ratna awardee.

    Mangeshkar passed away after a battle with Covid-19 and pneumonia. The cause of death is believed to be multiple organ failure, as per reports quoting doctors.

    While her family said that she had mild symptoms, she had been admitted to the intensive care unit on January 8 due to her age. Subsequently, her condition improved before deteriorating again on February 5. She had to be put on ventilator support again, as per reports.

    Mangeshkar breathed her last at the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.

    During her seven-decade long career, the 'Nightingale of India' is said to have sung in around 30,000 songs in various languages.
