Dozens dead in Bengal: blame-game ensues, both TMC & BJP says their cadre killed

Within hours of elections results in Bengal, at least a dozen people have reportedly been killed in post poll violence.

Governor said PM Modi had called and expressed concerns at the at alarmingly worrisome law & order situation in the state.

BJP president JP Nadda will be on a two-day visit to West Bengal starting from Tuesday to hold a protest against the alleged atrocities on party workers in the state by the TMC. BJP has said said it will hold a nationwide dharna on May 5 against the violence unleashed by TMC post the election results.

The Bengal wing of BJP claimed that at least six of its workers were killed since Sunday. BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya claimed over 4,000 houses were ransacked in the post-poll violence. BJP said party offices in Hooghly district was set on fire and some of its leaders, including Suvendu Adhikari, were harassed by TMC workers.

The Left and Congress too accused TMC of targeting their party workers.

Meanwhile, TMC too has claimed five of its supporters were killed in the violence. TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee has called for calm though she has blamed the BJP for the violence.

Following reports on post poll violence the Centre on Monday sought a report from the West Bengal government.
