      This week, India witnessed the much-anticipated launch of the OnePlus 12 series, featuring the OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 12R. These models introduce significant enhancements, including a new VC cooling chamber, increased battery capacity, and a brighter display panel.

      Our comprehensive comparison will delve into the distinct differences between the flagship OnePlus 12 and its counterpart, the OnePlus 12R.

      OnePlus 12R and OnePlus 12: Key Specifications Overview

      When we look at the technical specifications side by side, the differences between the OnePlus 12R and OnePlus 12 become evident.

      The OnePlus 12R boasts a 6.78-inch 120Hz FHD+ AMOLED display with a brightness of 4,500nits and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. It features a 50MP+8MP+2MP rear camera setup, a 16MP front camera, and a 5,500mAh battery with 100W fast charging capabilities.

      Conversely, the OnePlus 12 steps up with a slightly larger 6.82-inch 120Hz QHD+ AMOLED display, the more advanced Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, and a superior 50MP+64MP+48MP rear camera array. The device is equipped with a 32MP selfie camera, a 5,400mAh battery, and supports both 100W wired and 50W wireless charging.

      OnePlus 12 vs OnePlus 12R: Pricing in India

      The OnePlus 12R is priced at Rs 39,999 for the 8GB RAM + 128GB Storage variant and Rs 45,999 for the 16GB RAM + 256GB Storage model.

      The OnePlus 12, on the other hand, starts at Rs 64,999 for the 12GB RAM + 256GB Storage version and goes up to Rs 69,999 for the 16GB RAM + 512GB Storage option.

      OnePlus 12 vs OnePlus 12R: Design and Aesthetics

      The design elements of the OnePlus 12R and OnePlus 12 share similarities, such as the placement of the new alert slider and the arrangement of volume and power buttons.

      The OnePlus 12R is available in Cool Blue and Iron Grey, featuring a unique watch-like camera module. However, the Cool Blue variant is prone to fingerprints and slipping. It boasts an IP64 water and dust resistance rating.

      The OnePlus 12 offers Flowy Emerald and Silky Black colour options. The Flowy Emerald variant is particularly eye-catching with its green marbled glass back.

      It features a Hasselblad-branded camera module without ridges and an IP65 dust resistance rating but lacks significant water resistance. Both models are protected by Gorilla Glass 5.

      OnePlus 12 vs OnePlus 12R: Display Features

      The OnePlus 12R is equipped with a 6.78-inch curved AMOLED display, supporting a 120Hz refresh rate, LTPO 4.0 technology, and a FHD+ resolution. It also offers Dolby Vision and HDR10+, with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for protection.

      The OnePlus 12, in contrast, features a 6.82-inch curved AMOLED display with QHD+ resolution and similar 120Hz refresh rate and LTPO technology. This flagship model also supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+, along with HyperTouch technology for enhanced touch accuracy, and is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

      OnePlus 12 vs OnePlus 12R: Camera Capabilities

      The OnePlus 12R sports a 50MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP macro camera, and a 16MP front camera.

      The OnePlus 12, however, elevates the camera experience with a 50MP primary camera with OIS, a 64MP telephoto lens, a 48MP ultra-wide camera, and a 32MP front camera.

      OnePlus 12 vs OnePlus 12R: Performance and Software

      The flagship OnePlus 12 utilizes the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, coupled with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage.

      The OnePlus 12R, though equipped with the slightly older Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, also comes with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage.

      Both models feature the new Trinity Engine for enhanced performance and run on OxygenOS 14.0 based on Android 14.

      OnePlus 12 vs OnePlus 12R: Battery and Charging

      The OnePlus 12R features the largest battery in the series, a 5,500mAh unit with 100W SUPERVOOC charging. The OnePlus 12 is slightly behind with a 5,400mAh battery, but it adds 50W AIRVOOC fast charging to its 100W wired charging capabilities.
