<p>In a tragic incident in Rajasthan's Dausa district, a 25-year-old man named Hansraj was allegedly strangled to death after attempting to prevent three men from applying Holi colours on him. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening in Ralwas village, authorities have confirmed.</p>
<p>According to police reports, Ashok, Bablu, and Kaluram approached Hansraj at a local library, where he was busy preparing for competitive exams, to celebrate Holi by smearing him with colours. Hansraj, however, resisted their attempts, leading to a violent confrontation. In a shocking turn of events, the trio reportedly kicked him, beat him with belts, and ultimately strangled him, as stated by Additional Superintendent of Police, Dinesh Agarwal.</p>
<p>In the aftermath of this brutal incident, enraged family members and villagers gathered to protest, displaying Hansraj&rsquo;s body and blocking a national highway in the process. The demonstration, seeking justice for Hansraj, continued until early Thursday morning.</p>
<p>Protesters have demanded a compensation of Rs 50 lakh for Hansraj's family, alongside a government job for a family member. They have also called for the immediate arrest of the suspects involved in the tragic incident.</p>
<p>The highway was finally cleared following assurances from the police that action would be taken against those responsible for this heinous crime.</p>

<p>A poster restricting the use of colors at Shantiniketan&rsquo;s famous artisan fair, Sonajhuri Haat, has ignited a political controversy in West Bengal.</p>
<p>The situation intensified as the celebration coincides with Holi, a vibrant festival marking the arrival of spring. Shantiniketan, the renowned residential community founded by Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, lies about 180 km from Kolkata.</p>
<p>The poster, which went viral, reads in Bengali: "Reserved forest area: Playing with colours, car parking, videography and drone camera usage are prohibited."</p>
<p>This sparked accusations from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming that the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) was effectively banning Holi celebrations.</p>
<p>Suvendu Adhikari, Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal assembly, alleged this was not an isolated case but part of a larger trend of governmental appeasement.</p>
<p>He noted perceived police interference during Holi, citing past instances such as a 2025 police station initiative coinciding with Ramzan and alleged directives to wrap up the Basanta Utsav celebrations by 10 am in Shantiniketan.</p>
<p>Basanta Utsav, overlapping with Holi and Dol Jatra, is a distinctive celebration initiated by Tagore in the 1920s. It fuses cultural events with the joy of spring.</p>
<p>State Forest Minister Birbaha Hansda refuted claims of restrictions on playing Holi, maintaining the poster was merely an environmental advisory.</p>
<p>She accused the BJP of politicizing the issue, asserting, "There is no restriction. If anyone wants to play Holi, they can." She also called for a report from the District Forest Officer to further investigate the matter.</p>
<p>As the situation unfolds, the political discourse continues to grow heated ahead of the upcoming Holi festival.</p>

<p>One person was arrested and three were detained in Bijnor for allegedly forcibly smearing Holi colours on three of a Muslim family.</p>

<p>A person was arrested in Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor district after a video went viral showing a group of men shouting religious chants, forcibly smearing Holi colours, and pouring water on a Muslim man and two women who were passing by on a two-wheeler.</p>
<p>The clip further shows one of the women arguing with the men as their motorbike is stopped.</p>
<p>The incident took place on March 20 in the Dhampur area of the city. The man on the bike was going to visit a doctor along with his wife and mother to get medicine when the Holi revellers surrounded them, reports India Today outlet quoting police.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The police stated in a press note that a case was registered under Sections 147, 341, 323, 504, 509, and 354 of the Indian Penal Code.</p>
<p>Police on 24th March said that while one involved in the harassment has been arrested, three others have been detained. &nbsp;The arrested accused has been identified as Anirudh, a resident of Dhampur area.&nbsp;</p>
<p>"Holi is an auspicious festival. Do not harass anyone, do not put colours on people forcefully. Action will be taken against people found breaking the law," Bijnor Police Neeraj Jadaun said in a video message issued in the context of the viral video on social media X.</p>

<p>Delhi Metro said that prima facie it is doubtful that the video was shot inside the metro as deep fake technology may have been used to create it.</p>

<p>The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is analysing a video, which showed two women sitting inside a coach and applying Holi colour to each others' cheeks with a Hindi film song playing in the background, for alleged violation of its policies, the transporter said on Saturday.</p>
<p>"Prima facie, the authenticity of the shooting of this video inside the metro also seems doubtful as deep fake technology may have been used to create this content," it said in a statement about the video which has gone viral on social media.</p>
<p>"Through innumerable campaigns and commuter awareness drives we have tried to raise awareness among passengers requesting them not to make reels or indulge in any activity which causes inconvenience to fellow commuters.</p>
<p>"We also request fellow passengers to inform us immediately the moment they see such shoots being conducted," the DMRC said.</p>
<p>DMRC is absolutely not in favour of such reels being made on its premises, it said.</p>
<p>In the video, two women are seen sitting on the floor inside a metro train and applying colour on each other in a fashion similar to the way the two actors in the song do.&nbsp;</p>

<p>This clip shows two women clad in white sarees playing Holi in a seemingly intimate manner inside the metro coach as a Bollywood song 'Ang Laga De' is played in the background.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The scene then moves forward to the women rubbing their faces covered with colour on each other, and engaging in other provocation actions, which include attempting to kiss and pretending to sleep on each other. The clip further shows passengers in the background visibly uncomfortable as the whole act is played out.</p>
<p>The clip quickly sparked a massive backlash online, with netizens calling on the Delhi Metro authorities to take strong action.</p>
<p>One of the X users, while reacting to the video, commented, "I got too uncomfortable watching this."</p>
<p>Whereas another wrote, "No law required. Just a charge of Rs 1 lakh per 15 seconds<br>would suffice (sic)."</p>
<p>One user termed the act beyond intolerable, "This is beyond intolerable now, completely unbearable with this nonsense happening in our society (sic)."</p>
