Before the IPL 2024 final, the captain of KKR mentioned that he had brought up his worries about the matter related to his back issue, but nobody paid attention.

India's player Shreyas Iyer expressed that he mentioned his concerns about back problems during the "longer format" games post the 2023 ODI World Cup, but received no support.
During the ODI World Cup last year, Iyer scored 530 runs at an average of 66.25, including three fifties and two centuries, making him India's third-highest run-scorer.
Post the World Cup, Iyer faced a challenging period in his career, grappling with back injuries and a loss of form in Test cricket, resulting in a series of low scores in the South Africa tour and the England home series. Iyer was eventually removed from the Test squad, and he supposedly took a break to heal from an injury before making a comeback in Ranji Trophy cricket. While he was back, the BCCI also did not consider him for a central contract.

"I was definitely struggling after the World Cup in the longer format, when I raised my concern, no one was agreeing to it. &nbsp;But at the same time, my competition is with myself. When IPL was approaching, all I wanted to see to it that I could put my best foot forward and whatever planning or strategising we did before, we executed it to the best of our abilities. The transformation from red-ball cricket to white-ball is difficult as a batsman, but once you get used to it, you match with the other teams", Iyer added while addressing a pre-match press conference before the IPL final.
Shreyas will now lead KKR into their 4th IPL final against SRH today evening.

Iyer had led Delhi Capitals to the IPL title clash in 2020 before guiding KKR to this edition&rsquo;s summit match against Sunrisers Hyderabad to be played here on Sunday.
Asked if he feels that his achievements as a leader haven't received enough traction, the straight-talking Mumbaikar replied sharply.
&ldquo;The hype is definitely created by you guys (media). Where I stand (as a skipper) is definitely on you (to decide),&rdquo; Iyer replied to a query from PTI during the pre-match conference here on Saturday.
On Gambhir's contribution as the mentor, Iyer termed him as one of the finest readers of the game in T20 format.
&ldquo;About Gautam bhai, I feel he has got immense knowledge about how the game is played. He has won two titles previously with KKR, and his strategies have been spot-on in terms of what execution we have to make against the opposition.&rdquo; Iyer seemed confident that KKR would come up trumps against SRH with Gambhir offering his invaluable inputs from the dug-out.
&ldquo;Hopefully, we keep continuing with the same momentum with his knowledge.&rdquo; The last six months has been quite a roller-coaster journey for the stylish right-hander, whose initial reluctance to play red-ball domestic cricket saw him lose the BCCI central contract.
Iyer did come back and play the Ranji Trophy final against Vidarbha where he scored a 95 in the second innings.
The 29-year-old had a middling IPL so far and also wasn't remotely in contention for a berth in the T20 World Cup side.
The scars have not healed, and were evident when he spoke about how people didn't believe him when he talked about his struggles with a back injury, which seemed to have resurfaced.
&ldquo;I was definitely struggling after the World Cup in the longer format. When I raised my concern, no one was agreeing to it. But, at the same time, the competition was with myself,&rdquo; said Iyer, who has scored more than 4000 runs in 124 games across three formats.
For Iyer, it was important to stay focused on the job at hand rather than thinking about what all had gone wrong.
&ldquo;When IPL was approaching, all I wanted was to put my best foot forward. Whatever planning and strategizing we did before it and executing it to the best of our abilities, and that's where we are right now,&rdquo; he added.
Iyer had pulled out of the England Tests at home after the first two games and once he started training for the IPL.
Unlike others who loosely use the word adjustment and adaptability, Iyer admitted that it was easier said than done.
&ldquo;The transformation from red ball to white ball is difficult as a batter and also as a bowler. So, it was difficult at the start, but once you get used to it, you pick up the pace and match on with the other players.&rdquo; While Iyer did have a torrid time during February-March, he gradually started to get over his concerns about national selection once he appeared for Mumbai in the Ranji final.
&ldquo;We won the final. I was a part of the team and also contributed in the final. It gives me immense pleasure to be playing so well in the last few months,&rdquo; said Iyer, who headlined his team's chase in the Qualifier 1 against SRH with a well-timed unbeaten 58.
&ldquo;All I did was stay in the present and not think about what was going to happen to me or was worried about the selection process.
&ldquo;I just wanted to come and participate and play to the best of my abilities,&rdquo; he stated.

"You hardly get 2-3 days, for a visiting team to come here, play and identify the surface is a little difficult. We know our conditions better." KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer was in agreement that they didn't read the track properly.

The India batter feels that there is no reason to panic after one defeat.
"We have to go back to the drawing board and got to learn from that. I am glad this happened at the start of the tournament. When we go back, we know our home conditions pretty well. We need to analyse the situations and need to make the best use of it."

Mumbai captain Ajinkya Rahane backed Shreyas Iyer to put the contractual turmoil behind him and deliver a punchy performance for the team in the Ranji Trophy semifinal against Tamil Nadu.

Shreyas along with Jharkhand&rsquo;s Ishan Kishan were not considered for the annual central contracts after both the players skipped the Ranji matches of their respective teams in violation of BCCI&rsquo;s diktat.

Mumbai captain Ajinkya Rahane on Friday backed Shreyas Iyer to put the contractual turmoil behind him and deliver a punchy performance for the team in the Ranji Trophy semifinal against Tamil Nadu, beginning on Saturday.
Shreyas along with Jharkhand&rsquo;s Ishan Kishan were not considered for the annual central contracts after both the players skipped the Ranji matches of their respective teams in violation of BCCI&rsquo;s diktat.
Shreyas sat out of Mumbai&rsquo;s quarterfinal against Baroda while complaining of back pain.
&ldquo;He's an experienced player. His contribution has been amazing whenever he turned up for Mumbai. We are thrilled to have him in our team for the semifinal,&rdquo; Rahane told the media here at the BKC Ground.
Rahane said Shreyas would not require any extra motivation to do well for Mumbai against TN.
&ldquo;I don't think he needs any encouragement or advice. He has always contributed with the bat for Mumbai, and him being around other players in the dressing room will also help the team&rsquo;s cause,&rdquo; said Rahane.
However, Rahane himself is waging a personal battle after scoring just 115 runs from six matches at an average of 12.77 with a lone fifty.
But the 35-year-old did not read much into those anaemic numbers.
&ldquo;It&rsquo;s just a phase and you have to respect it (not scoring runs). When you're batting well and scoring runs, it happens consistently. There's nothing wrong with my batting. I just have to remain positive and back my game and instinct,&rdquo; he said.
Rahane said he needed to bat freely to get back into his run-scoring ways.
&ldquo;I just have to go out there and play freely. I feel as a player you have to be confident and respect a phase, move forward and learn whatever you can. You don't want to go too far ahead,&rdquo; he added.
Rahane confirmed that opener Prithvi Shaw has recovered from a finger injury which had forced him to bat in the middle-order during the quarterfinal.
&ldquo;His finger was hurt, that&rsquo;s why he came down the order. We wanted him to go before Musheer (Khan). But obviously, because of the injection&rsquo;s effect, he had to go after him,&rdquo; Rahane said.
Rahane hoped that Shaw, who has made 389 runs from four matches at an average of 64.83, would find his A game against Tamil Nadu.
&ldquo;Prithvi is really aggressive and he gets those runs very quickly. As a batsman, I don't think he (has) changed much. He's hungry to score runs. That's what we want from Prithvi. We don't want him to change his game,&rdquo; Rahane said.
He said Mumbai will adopt a pressure-free approach in this game.
&ldquo;We are playing really well. We don't want to think about the quarterfinal, semifinal or final. It is just another game for us.
If we can do that and be in the moment as a team and individuals, it will help us,&rdquo; Rahane noted.
Rahane was obviously pleased with the hundreds Tanush Kotian and Tushar Deshpande, the No 10 and 11, made in the last outing and said such efforts will add a lot of meat to the whole batting unit.
&ldquo;Everyone is working really hard, especially the bowlers, with their batting. I think when No. 8, 9, 10, 11, contribute with the bat, it becomes really crucial for the team.
Those guys have worked really hard throughout the season on their batting, you know, those extra 15-20 minutes after they bowl (at nets). It's paying off.&rdquo; Rahane said Kotian has the potential to become an all-rounder.
&ldquo;I'm happy for Tanush because earlier he has made those crucial 70s, 80s and 90s. But I think the hundred he got is a benchmark (for him). He has the calibre to become a good all-rounder,&rdquo; Rahane signed off.
