United States is gearing for tighter guidelines for the use of masks as the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommended that fully vaccinated people begin wearing masks indoors again in places with high Covid-19 transmission rates. US President Joe Biden also said he’s weighing a requirement for federal workers to get vaccinated.

Meanwhile the White House has told staff that they must again wear masks. In a memo sent the Biden Administration stated “Washington, D.C., has recently been classified as having a SUBSTANTIAL level of community transmission. As a result, the White House will require all individuals -- regardless of vaccination status -- to wear a mask at all times when on campus.”

Covid cases are now swelling due to the Delta variant, which accounts for around 90 percent of cases. The latest seven day average of daily cases is more than 56,000, similar to levels last seen in April.

Forty-nine percent of the US population is fully vaccinated, but the vaccination rate is not evenly divided within the country. Vaccine hesitancy in conservative parts of the US has stalled the inoculation drive in the country that is ready to face 'normalcy' with school and offices in the fall season.
The CDC is also recommending kids wear masks in schools as they return for the new session in September.
