Bookings for the British band's Music Of The Spheres World Tour went live at 12 pm IST on BookMyShow.
However, the website and app both crashed due to the overwhelming traffic, leaving many fans frustrated. Tickets, originally set to go live at noon, were only available after 12:18 pm, and some fans continued to face issues booking even after that.
Ticket prices for the Mumbai shows ranged from Rs 2,500 to Rs 12,500, with lounge seats priced as high as Rs 35,000, offering an elevated viewing experience with food and beverage services. Each transaction was limited to a maximum of eight tickets.
Despite the technical glitches, the tickets for the two scheduled concerts on January 18 and 19 at the DY Patil Sports Stadium sold out quickly. The huge demand prompted Coldplay to add a third show on January 21, which was also met with an enthusiastic response.
As tickets sold out within hours, many fans turned to unofficial platforms in hopes of securing tickets. This led BookMyShow to issue a warning on its social media, cautioning fans against purchasing from unauthorized sellers.
The platform emphasized that any tickets bought outside of BookMyShow would be considered invalid and that ticket scalping is illegal in India. They urged fans to avoid scams by only purchasing through official channels.
A 'BookMyShow' spokesperson addressed the initial issues, explaining that a queueing system had been implemented to manage the overwhelming demand, which was further complicated by suspicious traffic. Despite the delays, the platform ensured minimal disruption for genuine fans.
Coldplay&rsquo;s 2025 Mumbai, India concerts will be part of their ongoing world tour, which kicks off in Melbourne, Australia, in October 2024, and ends at London&rsquo;s Wembley Stadium in August 2025. The Courtyard by Marriott, located right next to the stadium, has seen an overwhelming demand for rooms on the concert dates, January 18, 19, and 21, 2025. A number of these rooms overlook the stadium. Fans in order to get a view of their favourite have already booked the rooms. Popular travel platforms like Booking.com and Makemytrip.com show the property as fully booked for those dates.
Other nearby hotels, such as The Park Navi Mumbai, have also experienced a spike in demand, with price hikes compared to earlier months.
Coldplay had initially announced two concerts in Mumbai on January 18 and 19, but due to high demand, a third date on January 21 was added. BookMyShow, the official ticketing partner, saw an overwhelming 1.3 crore fans attempting to secure tickets. The platform&rsquo;s servers crashed as soon as sales opened, leaving many fans disappointed.
As fans scrambled for tickets, some turned to unauthorized platforms selling tickets at inflated prices, prompting BookMyShow to issue warnings against buying from unofficial sellers.&nbsp;

A deadly stampede at a Halloween event led to the death of over 150 people in South Korea&rsquo;s Seoul on Saturday night. Following this, Halloween celebrations, festivals, events and parades have been cancelled in the country and South Korea's President Yoon Suk-yeol has declared a period of national mourning till November 5.
According to Korean Times, Everland theme park has closed all festivals, including a parade featuring classic Halloween characters such as skeletons and witches, till November 20. Another theme park, Lotte World, located in southeastern Seoul, has also cancelled its Halloween-themed events.
In the wake of the tragedy, BTS&rsquo; agency Big Hit announced that it is postponing all the activities scheduled for Jin&rsquo;s recent release &lsquo;Astronaut&rsquo; with Coldplay. Taking to Twitter, the agency confirmed that the listening party and the release of the lyric video of his song will be pushed to a later date.

Some 20,000 people were in attendance at the Paris event where Elton John "Your Song" as the massive event began on Saturday.

Rocking a dramatic blue and black floral ensemble, the actress shared a video on her Instagram handle where she said, &ldquo;Here I am! Global Citizen live baby, in Paris."
"There has never been a greater need for advocacy than right now," the Bollywood star said in her live broadcast from Paris.
International advocacy organisation, Global Citizen, organised a 24-hour across the globe live event to raise awareness on variety of issues like poverty, climate change and others.
The festival features hundreds of artists, activists and advocacy organizations working together this weekend to inspire awareness, seek unity and bring about global change.
