England's defense of the Twenty20 World Cup title lived on for a few more hours after a must-win over Namibia in a rain-affected match on Saturday.
To reach the Super Eight, England first had to beat Namibia in their maiden T20 matchup. Persistent showers almost ruined the chance, but the match started three hours late and was reduced to 11 overs, then 10 overs after another heavy shower.
England was made to bat first and rallied to 122-5.
Namibia, given a rain-adjusted target of 126, managed only 84-3 and lost by 41 runs.

England was anxious for most of the day, thanks to the weather. It had already suffered one washout &mdash; its opener against Scotland &mdash; and a second washout in four group games would have sent it home.
Because of what was at stake, the umpires waited as long as possible at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium to get play underway.
England lost the plot early. Only one run was taken from the opening over bowled by 39-year-old David Wiese, captain Jos Buttler was bowled for a duck by fast bowler Ruben Trumpelmann, and Wiese returned to nick out the other opener, Phil Salt.
England was 13-2 after 13 balls.
Jonny Bairstow and Harry Brook counterattacked. Bairstow made 31 off 18 balls just before the last rain delay. Brook finished with an unbeaten 47 off 20, and had late support from Moeen Ali and Liam Livingstone, who both contributed to taking 21 runs off the last over.
Namibia's chase was relatively fast but not fast enough. Opener Michael van Lingen, after 33 off 29, was pulled out under the pretense of retiring hurt, and Wiese inserted to up the run rate. He duly delivered 27 off 12 but it was too late.
India washout The India-Canada game in Florida was abandoned without a ball bowled.
The outfield in Broward County Stadium was too wet for play, and the match was called off only an hour after its scheduled morning start.
While there was light rain on Saturday morning, the outfield was damp from Friday showers which led to a second straight abandoned game at the venue. The United States-Ireland game on Friday never started. Pakistan and Ireland are scheduled to play at the ground on Sunday.
While the teams waited for a decision, India's Rishabh Pant and coach Rahul Dravid went to the boundary to sign autographs, and Virat Kohli posed with some of the Canada players.
Unbeaten India had already qualified for the Super Eight as the Group A winner. Canada finished group play with only a precious win over Ireland.
India starts the Super Eight against Afghanistan on Thursday in Barbados.

Captain Ben Stokes has already expressed that the pitch in Ranchi is unlike anything he has seen before, highlighting that it looks dark and crumbly.

England one-day captain Jos Buttler declared himself "delighted with the win" after England ended a run of five ICC World Cup defeats with a 160-run victory over Netherlands on Wednesday.
Abject England finally had something to celebrate as Ben Stokes claimed his maiden World Cup century against the Dutch side, while the victory also puts England back on track for Champions Trophy qualification in 2025 ahead of their final game against Pakistan on Saturday.
Despite England's poor World Cup, Buttler said he is keen to stay on as captain and help to rebuild the one-day team in the forthcoming West Indies tour.

Apart from Stokes, Dawid Malan and Chris Woakes also scored an imposing 87 and 51 respectively.

With eyes on the 2025 Champions Trophy berth, England cantered to a 160-run win over the Netherlands, only their 2nd win in the ongoing World Cup 2023.

Though England and Netherlands are out of reckoning for the semifinals, the contest between the two lowest-placed sides gain significance when it comes to qualifying for the Champions Trophy as only the top seven teams from the ongoing showpiece will qualify for the event.
England's batting finally clicked as they posted 339 for 9 and then the bowlers did the rest, dismissing Netherlands for 179 in 37.2 overs.
The win took England to the seventh spot in the points table on account of better run rate.
The defending champions will take on Pakistan in their last match in Kolkata on Saturday.
Opting to bat, Stokes (108 off 83) initially provided the stability in the middle before opening up towards the end, while David Malan (87 off 74) got England off to a flier with his breezy knock during which he hit 10 fours and two sixes to power England to 339 for nine.
Stokes struck six fours and as many hits over the fence, while Chris Woakes too did his bit with a 45-ball 51.
Chasing a huge target of 340, Netherlands lost their first wicket in the fifth over when Max O'Dowd gave a simple catch to Moeen Ali at mid-on off the bowling of Chris Woakes.
In the next over, Netherlands were two down when Colin Ackermann nicked a David Willey delivery to Jos Buttler behind the stumps.
Wesley Barresi (37) and Sybrand Engelbrecht (33) tried their best to stabilise the chase with a 55-run stand for the third wicket before Baressi was run out.
Engelbrecht was then holed out by Woakes at mid-on to hand Willey his second wicket of the day, while Bas de Leede played on an Adil Rashid delivery.
Willey dropped Teja Nidamanuru (41 not out off 34) at mid-on off Atkinson in 27th over and the batter grabbed the life with both hands, clobbering Adil Rashid and Atkinson for two huge sixes over mid-on and square-leg boundary in consecutive overs.
Netherlands skipper Scott Edwards and Nidamanuru then shared 59 runs for the sixth wicket before the former gave a simple catch to Willey at mid-off of Ali's bowling.
Thereafter, Netherlands wickets fell like nine pins as they were bowled out for 179 in 37.2 overs.
Earlier, Malan looked at his attacking best as he flicked and drove Logan van Beek for three consecutive boundaries in the second over. He continued his onslaught against spinner Aryan Dutt (2/67), sending him through the covers and gully for two more boundaries in the next over.
Boundaries came thick and fast for England as the next over from Logan Van Beek also witnessed two hits to the fence -- one each from Malan and Jonny Bairstow.
Netherlands had their first success in the final ball of the seventh over in the form of Bairstow, who was holed out by Paul Van Meekeren off the bowling of Dutt at backward square-leg.
But the dismissal hardly had any effect on Malan as he picked up three more fours from van Beek in the next over to take England to 70 for one in 10 overs.
Malan, in the process, brought up his fifty in 37 balls with the help of 10 hits to the fence.
Malan and Joe Root then played cautiously to take the innings forward before the former hit the first six of the innings, clobbering Roelof van der Merwe over square leg boundary.
An over later, Malan once again launched another attack on van der Merwe, dispatching him over midwicket boundary.
But two wickets in consecutive overs halted England's charge.
First Root was cleaned up by van Beek in the 21st over as the batter went for a reverse scoop and then Malan was run out in the next over with England slumping to 139 for three in 22 overs.
Harry Brook didn't last long as he pulled a short delivery from Bas de Leede (3/74) to Colin Ackermann at deep square-leg as Netherlands pulled things back.
England skipper Jos Buttler's torrid time continued as he was holed out at mid-off by Teja Nidamanuru off van Meekeren soon.
But Stokes was in ominous form as he first took time to settle down and then unleashed his brute power towards the end to hammer the Dutch bowlers to all parts of the ground.
Dutch spinners pulled things back in the middle overs as from 133 for two, England slumped to 192 for six by the 36th over after the dismissal of Moeen Ali.
But Stokes and Woakes had other plans as they shared 129 runs for the seventh wicket to take England past the 300-run mark

In reply, there was no end to England's struggles as the top order took a tumble courtesy of a Bumrah-Shami show which saw the Three Lions tumble to 52/5 within 16 overs.
Shami finished with 4 wickets followed by Bumrah with 3 on the night.
Liam Livingstone top-scored for the side with 27 as England fell to their 5th defeat of the World Cup.

England had opted to field in humid conditions and South Africa piled 399. Jos Buttler and Co then suffered a batting collapse to be bundled out for 170 in 22 overs.
"England keep getting their decisions wrong. We got the toss and the balance of the side was wrong. The three changes in the squad moved England completely away from how they have been playing for years," Hussain said on Sky Sports.
England made three changes for the game, replacing Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran and Chris Woakes with Ben Stokes, David Willey and Gus Atkinson.
"Woakes had had no rhythm and on a flat pitch you leave him out and bring Stokes in, I agree with that decision. What I don't like is the toss decision and reliance on stats.
"England need to get the decisions they're making off the field right. The quality of performance was not good enough, but get your decision making right off the field.
"I hear a lot about statistics, and Eoin Morgan used statistics, but there was a lot of gut feeling there too. You need to get your decisions right, don't just go to your default settings." "England now need to win seven games on the bounce to defend the World Cup, but they don't look like a side that could do that at the moment. "England look like a side that has no confidence. These three losses will hurt them. It happened in the last World Cup, but you felt it was a side that had confidence and they were playing a style and brand of cricket where they could bounce back," Hussain said.
Hussain cited the example of how Willey, playing his first game in the tournament, struggled with cramps which also forced him temporarily off the field.
"Just look at what happened to Willey today. No matter how much practice you've had in the nets, or how many laps you've done off the ground, playing in this heat and humidity, you need to have proper match overs in your legs, otherwise you'll cramp up.
"These are super fit England cricketers and within 40 minutes you could tell how much they were struggling," he added

In Mumbai, they will lock horns with South Africa exactly a week later, followed by the clash against Qualifier 2 on October 26 in Bengaluru.
Next up will be the two most awaited battles for all England fans. They will take on India at Lucknow's Ekana on October 29 before heading to Ahmedabad again for the big clash against the Aussies on November 4.
The Three Lions will battle Qualifier 2 on November 8 in Pune and will then face Pakistan at the Eden Gardens in their final round-robin match on November 12.
