Speaking during a roundtable for The Hollywood Reporter India alongside actors Vicky Kaushal, Shabana Azmi, Rajkummar Rao, Pratik Gandhi, Kani Kusruti, and Anna Ben, Kareena called the movie "a beautiful and honest film."
Recalling her conversation with Aamir, Kareena shared, "He was shattered. He met me and said, 'Our movie didn&rsquo;t work. You&rsquo;ll still talk to me, won&rsquo;t you?' I told him, 'We are actors, and I am proud you entrusted me with Rupa [her character].'"
Kareena expressed how playing Rupa impacted her career more profoundly than commercial successes. "What Rupa did for me is more meaningful than what a Singham [Again] can achieve," she explained.
When veteran actor Shabana Azmi inquired about this perspective, Kareena elaborated: "The character Advait [Chandan, the director] wrote was beautiful. We didn&rsquo;t create the film aiming for Rs 500 crore; it was made with heart, and everyone gave their best."
Despite earning critical acclaim, Laal Singh Chaddha faced backlash during its release. The film, an adaptation of the Hollywood classic Forrest Gump, managed a modest lifetime collection of ₹61.36 crore in India and ₹133.50 crore globally.

As per sources, he immediately flew her to Breach Candy hospital in Mumbai and has been by her side since then. The other members of the family have been visiting her.
A source informed ETimes that Aamir's mother&rsquo;s vitals are now stable and she is responding well to the treatment.
Aamir and the family have ensured that details of this alarming episode are not made public, and they want to deal with this situation with the least amount of conjecture and speculation.
Aamir Khan had celebrated his mother&rsquo;s birthday in June this year. His ex-wife Kiran Rao and son, Azad Rao Khan, also attended the celebration. &nbsp;

'Brahmastra Part One: Shiva'
The fantasy action-adventure, written and directed by Ayan Mukerji, is inspired from stories in Hindu mythology. It film follows the journey of Shiva, an orphan, who discovers that he has the power to control fire and a connection to a secret society of guardians - Brahmastra. He attempts to prevent the strongest of all astras from falling into the hands of dark forces. The film will reportedly release on Disney+ Hotstar on October 23.

However, Advait has refuted any such claims on Instagram. The director shared a picture with Aamir in which they both are seen ready to ride some waves. The duo is happily posing for the camera, holding their surfing boards.

The film marks actor's Bollywood debut. In the interview clip, Naga Chaitanya calls Aamir a 'lovely person' and states that he has learned more from the 'PK' star in 45 days than what he learned in the last 12 years of his career. &nbsp;

Actor Faisal Khan has once again gone on record to level accusations against his brother-actor Aamir Khan. In a recent interview the actor revealed why he refused to participate in the upcoming season of &lsquo;Bigg Boss&rsquo; and claimed that he was &lsquo;caged&rsquo; in Aamir&rsquo;s house once and he doesn&rsquo;t &lsquo;intend to get caged again.&rsquo;
Speaking with ETimes, Faisal said, &lsquo;In Bigg Boss, everyone is pitted against each other, they fight, argue and then you&rsquo;re also given tasks. They play with you mentally. I didn&rsquo;t want to get trapped in that zone. They give you some money but by Allah&rsquo;s grace I don&rsquo;t need much money. So, I thought why should I get caged? Who likes being caged? Everyone likes a free life. That&rsquo;s fun, you know. Qaid hone mein mazaa nahin hai (there&rsquo;s no fun in being caged). I have been caged once in Aamir&rsquo;s house. I don&rsquo;t intend to get caged again. I want to live free and flow like water.&rsquo;
When asked what his opinion was on the backlash and criticism Aamir faced at the time of &lsquo;Laal Singh Chaddha&rsquo;s release, Faisal said that Aamir should have apologised to the audience earlier and not when the film was about to release. He appreciated that the &lsquo;PK&rsquo; actor apologised for his statements, and said that there is no harm in apologising.
&lsquo;Yes, it was right to apologise. No person knows everything in life. There&rsquo;s no harm in apologising and correcting yourself. You become a better human being after that. He should have apologised immediately after that thing came out, not when his film was releasing. That seems opportunistic. But if someone doesn&rsquo;t realise that they might have hurt someone then I don&rsquo;t know about that. Because you don&rsquo;t know when realisation dawns upon someone,&rsquo; he told ETimes

In an interview with PTI, Nagarjuna said, 'It is a bittersweet moment. I wish it had worked good. But it happens, it is an experience. When Chai told me he was doing this Forrest Gump remake, I told him don't expect to be recognised as a star. This will show you as an actor. And Chai said, 'I want to be known as an actor also'.'
The 'Brahmastra' actor also shared his thoughts on North-South cinema debate. He said that he is pleased that finally everyone is acknowledging each other as Indian cinema. He added “It’s becoming a smaller place, the whole industry. It’s good for the industry, we make bigger films, a wider variety of stories, scripts, everything comes out. You get to know the other cultures of living in the same country. It's a fantastic opportunity. I think it's a great opportunity for Indian cinema. We should take this,”.

Bollywood Filmmaker-Actor Prakash Jha is busy promoting his forthcoming film ‘Matto Ki Saikil’ which is all set to release in theatres on Sept 16. In an exclusive interview the Cinestaan. He talked about the boycott calls and movies witnessing tragic fate at the box office. 
Talking about ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ at the promotion of the film, he said, ‘It is being said that Aamir Khan’s film was boycotted on social media. If he had made Dangal (2016) or Lagaan (2001) and then the film hadn’t done well, then we would have understood that it happened because of the boycott. But you have made such a film that majority of those who have seen it aren’t praising it.’ 
When asked about the sorry state of films in theatres, He said, ‘They should understand that they are making bakwas . A film can’t be made only through money, corporates and paying a high amount to the actors. For that one needs to write a good story that makes you understand, shakes you up and entertains’ 
‘They should make stories that are rooted. People from the Hindi industry are speaking in Hindi but what are they making? They are just churning out remakes. If you don’t have a story to tell, stop making films. They should work hard and think original as people have become lethargic.’ He concluded. 
Apart from filmmaker Prakash Jha, Actor Pallavi Joshi also opens up about the same issue, In an exclusive interview with Hindustan Times, she said, ‘People should also realise introspection is important. I feel if such a huge movement is taking place in the country, there is a need for introspection for everyone. The audience is our everything and we are nothing without them. So, let’s try and remember this and give them what they want. Give them the stories they are dying to see and see how they flock the theatres again.’

Bollywood filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri is once again in the headlines for his statement on veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar. In a recent conversation with The Carvaka Podcast, Vivek talked about Mr. Akhtar and appreciated him for his contribution to Bollywood. He also took an indirect dig at him as he referred him as ‘communist’. 
He said, ‘Even a man like Javed Akhtar, the bhajans he wrote for Lagaan were pure Hindi. ‘Madhuban mein Radha..’ there is not a single Urdu word in it. Because these were well-read, intelligent people who were tied to the roots of India. He may be a communist, he may fight against the right-wing, it doesn't matter.’ 
‘All of Javed Akhtar's heroes, all of them were either a labourer's son, a teacher's son and he would fight a dacoit or a mill owner or a zamindar. He would fight a corrupt police inspector or corrupt MLA. In which movie of recent times would you find MLAs, MPs, Police inspectors, IAS officers as the villains? It's as if India has no issues at all. The only issues are whether you are sleeping with this person or that person. That's where they have brought Bollywood,' he added.

Javed Akhtar has recently shared what he feels about the boycott culture. Since the cuylture started, many celebrities have put forward their views on the same. The veteran screenwriter and lyricist feels that it’s just a passing phase. In an interview with ETimes, he said, ‘It is a passing phase. It is very evident that it doesn’t work. If the film is good and is appreciated by the audience, it will work.’ 
He further added, ‘If it is not good and not appreciated by the audience, it won’t work. I don’t think this kind of announcement of cancel culture and boycott works at all.’ 
During this boycott trend, Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer 'Laal Singh Chaddha' had to face bad performance at the Indian box office. 'Brahmastra,' 'Vikram Vedha,' 'Pathaan' have also faced the consequences.  
Earlier filmmaker Anurag Kashyap had also talked about the trend and said he is not affected by it as his films do not go beyond Rs 32 crore. He said only those whose movies cross Rs 100 crore are affected by the recent trend.

Now, in a new interview, veteran lyricist and writer Javed Akhtar opened up on the effects of the cancel culture in the film industry and called it a &lsquo;passing phase&rsquo;.&nbsp;

A voice plays with the video as words appear on the black screen, ‘We all are humans and we only commit mistakes. It happens sometimes through our words and sometimes by our actions. At times we do it without knowing and at times when we are angry.’ 
The video also said, ‘We also hurt people with our jokes and sometimes without talking. If I have hurt your feelings in any way ever then I ask for your forgiveness with my heart, promise and being.’ The video ended with saying 'Michami Dukkadam’ again. Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’ title track plays as background score in the video.  
An Instagram user said, ‘Hacked For Sure!! Didn't expect this from Aamir...the voice ain't his.’ While some social media users reacted positively to the video.  
When people were boycotting ‘Laal Singh Chaddha,’ Aamir Khan had said that people belived he was among those who didn’t like India but this was not true. The actor assured that he loved the country and requested people to not boycott his films but watch them. 
In 2015, Aamir Khan had made the statement, 'Our country is very tolerant, but there are people who spread ill-will.' Following this, Twitter users came up with hashtags like  #BoycottLaalSinghChaddha and #Boycottaamirkhan.

The movie made just Rs 49 crore in its first week.  
Following this, Atul limited his replies on twitter. He tweeted, ‘When destruction is celebrated as if it were a spectacle, the harsh truths are reduced to debris. #globalphenomenon.’ Fans could easily decipher what he actually meant by his tweet. 
One Twitter user wrote, “@atul_kulkarni this phase will too pass…take it in your Stride. Wishes.”  While other wrote, ‘It is a dark world out there that celebrates another person’s failure. Rational thinking is lost and its time to introspect. Really unfortunate!’
 While some disapproved of his limiting the comments on Twitter, many also found a way to criticise the film negatively.  
Nevertheless, the film still found a way to the international market by being highest-grossing Hindi film there. It earned $7.5 million (Rs 59 crore) in over a week of release and surpassed Gangubai Kathiawadi ($7.47 million), Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 ($5.88 million), and The Kashmir Files ($5.7 million).

Only ‘The Kashmir Files’, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ and ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ have cracked box office in 2022.
Explaining why the film didn’t do well, film trade analyst Ramesh Bala said that its failure was a ‘combination of both the content and boycott’. Bala said a ₹10-11 crore opening-day business shows that people were not willing to come to the theatres.
Leaf through tomes of analysis it becomes clear that the post-coronavirus audience ‘prefers grand entertainers that can convince them to go the cinema. Else, Bala, said they can watch films on OTT.
Other experts too believe that the film preference and audience has changed in the post-pandemic world and that too hurt ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’.

But for Aamir, there isn’t much relief as reports suggest that there are no OTT takers for the film. Initially, the film was supposed to stream on Netflix after six months of its theatrical release, but now the streaming giant has backed out of the deal.   
It is now believed that the film will stream on Voot, which is owned by the co-producers of the film.

Aamir’s statement in 2015 came to haunt him again just before the release of his film. His video talking about what he called growing intolerance in the country started circulating on social media platform and subsequently boycott Laal Singh Chaddha became an internet trend.

Veteran actor Anupam Kher, who had slammed Aamir over his 2015 remark, had this response to whether the boycott trend on social media had affected the performance of Laal Singh Chaddha. Aamir&rsquo;s statement in 2015 came to haunt him again just before the release of his film. His video talking about what he called growing intolerance in the country started circulating on social media platform and subsequently boycott Laal Singh Chaddha became an internet trend.
Aware that the call to boycott had the potential to take toll on his films, the actor went in a damage control mode, stating that he was a true Indian.
Veteran actor <a href="https://www.editorji.com/entertainment-news/bollywood/anupam-kher-shares-selfie-with-kartik-aaryan-calls-it-a-picture-of-superstars-1660806303316">Anupam Kher</a>, who had slammed Aamir over his 2015 remark, had this response to whether the boycott trend on social media had affected the performance of Laal Singh Chaddha. He said and I quote: &ldquo;The boycott trend is not new. Many films that have been boycotted in the past have turned out to be big hits. Good films find a way to work. The Kashmir Files was also boycotted, but it did exceedingly well.&rdquo; End Quote.
