A former officer of the Border Security Force, or BSF, has been arrested by the central probe agency Enforcement Directorate, or ED. Satish Kumar, former commanding officer of the 36th BSF battalion has been accused of illegal cattle smuggling across the India-Bangladesh border. The BSF guards the India-Bangladesh border.

The ED case pertains to alleged money laundering of the proceeds of the crime, worth almost ₹13 crore. ED alleges that Kumar received ₹12.8 crore from Mohd Enamul Haque, the main accused in the case. The former BSF officer alleged received the money in his wife and father-in-law's accounts, and laundered them to buy immovable properties and mutual funds.

TMC leader Vinay Mishra, and his brother Vikas are also accused in the case. Kumar had earlier been suspended from the BSF after the Central Bureau of Investigation, or CBI, arrested him in the same case. The CBI and ED filed FIRs in September 2020.
