Bharat Bandh latest news: India braces for a two-day shutdown as the All India Trade Union Congress begins it's 2 day nationwide shutdown fro 6 am on Monday. As per the workers' union over 20 crore workers are participating in the strike on March 28-29.

Who is protesting and why?
The joint forum of central trade unions and various sectoral independent trade unions have given the strike call on March 28 and 29 to protest against government's anti-people economic policies and anti-worker labour policies.

Services to be affected

Banking:
The All India Bank Employees Association will be joining the strike against the government’s plan to privatise public sector banks and the Banking Laws Amendment Bill 2021. State Bank of India has warned banking services may get impacted due to the strike. “We advise that while the bank has made necessary arrangements to ensure normal functioning in its branches and offices on the days of strike, it is likely that work in our bank may be impacted to a limited extent, by the strike," it said.

Transport: Workers of roadways, transport and electricity departments have decided to join the strike in spite of the impending threat of ESMA (Essential Services Maintenance Act) which is likely to be imposed in Haryana and Chandigarh, the joint forum had said in a statement.

Power: The power ministry on Sunday advised all the state-run utilities and other agencies to be on high alert and ensure round-the-clock electricity supply and stability of the national grid.
